VAR UMN is an experimental solo music project created in November 2023. It aims to create a new music genre: Raw Animism; also bringing in sombre, atmospheric, guitar melodies. With its own mythology and lore, it tells the story of a forgotten people, whose language hasn't been heard in this world for over a millennia. Until now.
I do believe that most music pieces can be transmitted, via Vinyl, CD, MP3, Streaming, you name it. But there are some pieces that just belong in a ritual, or a spiritual session. They belong into the realm they pretend to originate from. This is not necessarily a critique. Every artist is free to choose their canvas, obviously. But it's certainly an observation that I made over the past couple of years. "Spiritual" music gets pressed into a medium - pretty much stripping it from its spirituality in that very moment. I don't expect this to make sense to anybody. It's just that it gets harder and harder for me personally to resonate with this type of music, since it became a genre, a product, a selling point.
Music makes me visual and stirs various feelings and thoughts. It would be interesting to know what you feel or see on certain songs. Like I might find a song dark and sexy but you might feel or see ravens flying across a snowy mountain top.
I do try to transport my mind into these songs, especially with the guitar. The entire EP was indeed to express unspoken, repressed feelings and emotions, and trying to convey them through melody. The EP was mostly to express the feeling of loneliness and trying to find peace with it and ultimately freedom.
Wail in Hollowness creates such an awful feeling, like being imprisoned in a very dark place and struggling to muster up all available strength to break free from it. Very dark.
Every one of these tracks is fire. I was just kind of listening along at my desk when that rift kicked in on Nekromantika. Even my cat (the idiot in my avatar) perked up as he could hear it vibrating through my headphones. More please :D
Wow - the emotional transition from Nekromantika to Under Nocturnal Surface was sublime! And I thoroughly enjoyed the pensive thoughtfulness of Wail In Hollowness!!
You know how much I adore your guitar playing 🖤You are so good. I would love a VAR UMN combo album with all of your instruments; your guitar, drums, rattle, singing and breath sounds, etc. A mix of instruments with your raw animism. A slow lead in song, as the next songs build in emotion and crescendo. That may not be possible or probable, but if it were , FIRE 🌟🖤🔥💫✨ Anyway, I appreciate ALL of the music you create, my dear friend 🖤
That's a wonderful idea and I was indeed thinking about making a mixture between raw animism and this atmospheric black metali-ish sounds, even before composing this EP. I was already working on something like that for a next album which I think it has to be a mixture and not fully raw-animism because the theme is different than the works before. Not sure how I will work around that, bit I already have an idea for at least 9 songs. Thank you dear friend, as always. Much love!
You are a chameleon, you adapt to survive and thus you commit all your strength to building a new Future and still help other souls to see the world! Thanks 🌷❤
in my first vision of cosmic darkness soldiers at work protecting me had bodu of viking and faces like the image on the RU-vid of animals with black energy without faces. also I was shown that these are energies that are walking among earthling on all planets if one can spot them their eyes will be all pitched black and they are a bite odd looking humanoid flesh avatars walking doing their works cosmic darkness soldiers told me that they are also called <<angels of death>> gatekeeper's <help of defence> and I am their master just like the white cosmic warriors said the same. these dark and light soldiers (angle + enrgies without face I am told they are) said they are walking on earth now to force the balance on flesh worlds on all planetary systems as the systems calibrating shedding off whatever not required anymore with only forward movement never getting the old returned
Having listened to your new album in full several times, I have always found this track to be a bit of a brief banger :D It's not an overly long track, but it is super catchy. Some of the tracks really drill down and put me in the mood to ruminate on how heavy they are. This one, is what I put on to sort my email. It's a lovely little piece of art. Thank you for sharing it.
