Hi all, I own a small computer shop. In this channel i will upload videos, about laptop disassembly and small fixes. All the videos are uploaded without any editing or special effects. Hope they are useful for you..
I tried to do this on my aging, dying laptop today. I got all the gear and had this video as a guide. Unfortunately, 2 of the screws on the heatsink were stripped (the inside was destroyed, flattened), and they are so small that no pliers or anything will get them out. This was done in the factory, and it's very disappointing. It seems like somebody used a power drill with poor technique. I tried many different ways of removing them, short of hammering into them with full force. Luckily, the computer still starts and work, and I managed to clean the fans quite well without removing the heat sink. Have you ever encountered this problem, and how did you solve it? Love the vids!
Sir please help me i have same laptop but it's F15, am going to replace it's thermal paste, can u suggest thermal paste? Now my tuf is thermal throttling after 10 minutes of playing games, it's almost 2 years old, is MX- 4 good for my situation? Sir am so nervous🙏
I use MX-4 also and it is very good quality. Just clean the dust from the fan and the cooler. Don't remove the thermal pads. Just clean the old paste from the CPU and GPU and replace it.
2 of my battery screws do not have the Philips cross in them. I just took a macro photo of them and blew them up. They do not appear to be star bits either. There's nothing for them to grip to. How are they supposed to come out?
9:59 why did you apply the tape just to take it off? I don’t know anything about computers in this matter, a buddy at school had his laptop screen cracked and I thought to look for myself on yt to see how it can be changed rather than paying as imo it doesn’t seem like a difficult task at all just patience and correct tools.
I apply double sided tape. So when one side is stick to the plastic, I remove the other isolation layer so that the other side get open and the display get stuck to it.
Thermal paste is only on GPU and CPU. On the memory chips there is a thermal putty. It is a different viscosity. If you replace it with thermal paste it will get worse. I never replace the putty. Only you don't have to touch it or try to spread it. Just leave it like it is.
If you add RAM memory, nothing will be lost. If you add second SSD, nothing will be lost, you will just have and extra drive letter to store info. If you remove the old one, and put a bigger one, the info will be lost.
@@LaptopDisassembly I have the same device in your video Can I add memory without removing the old memory? I mean, are there ports for additional memory, or should the old memory be removed and a larger memory added? And Thank you for your response bro I really appreciate that ❤️
@@LaptopDisassembly Sorry for not clarifying 😅 I mean the hard disk Or something like that I don't know what his exact name is in English But I don't mean (RAM) I have (16GB) of RAM and That's enough for me But I have (256 GB) of hard disk and This is the thing I am asking you about
@@o22x If you like to replace the one you have ( 256Gb ) you can or clone the disk to the new bigger disk, of just copy the files and make a fresh install on the bigger drive. On this model you can add second drive, but it will be 2,5" SSD. They are a bit cheaper and you can use it for a storage. This way you will have an extra drive letter and all your old info will be there. Only think you need is a cable from the 2,5 drive to the board connector. This is the cable: HDD Cable Dell Latitude 5580 5590 5591 Precision 3520 3530 - 6NVFT DC02C00EO00
The white lock-latch holding the lcd cable down that you make look so easy to unclip has snapped off on my x230!! I could not lever the latch upwards...does this mean a resoldering job or new motherboard??!! Help!!!
NO need to replace motherboard. It is used just to hold the cable down to the pins. Put back the cable and use some isolating tape to hold it down, After that put some rubber peace above it, When you put back the upper plastic, it will push it down and it will work fine. Probably the plastic was old and "burned"
@@LaptopDisassembly Thanks for speedy reply. However I'm referring to the pins that the plastic unit actually connects with on the motherboard...these have snapped so that the plastic latch has seperated along with the cable off of the board.
@@LaptopDisassembly ru-vid.comb1yhCFQ8bO4?si=8fNlylSCft9OIx6U I realize now I mistook the white frame as being the latch🤦🤦🤦♂ . The correct black latch is similar in color to the tape around the plug and I didn't see it!🤦♂🤦♂🤦🤦 (Your hand movement was a bit quick)
Did i should put thermal paste also on graphic card ? Cuz when i’ve oppened the pc i find nothing on the craphic card i put only thermal paste on processor and when finish all and turn on the pc there is light on the monitor and can here the system runnig also windows but nothing showing in the screen … can u help please ?
The thermal paste is on the CPU. The GPU is with thermal pad. Try to reconnect the display cable again. Probably it did not click properly. Also try on external monitor to see is the picture ok.
Thanks for the video. At minutes 6:50 you said it supports NVME upto 512gb. I would like to upgrade to a 2tb NVME. Can I do that? Is there a storage limit?
No need to remove the wifi cables in order to replace the display. But if you gonna replace the whole display assembly you need to swap the wifi and camera.
Hello friend, very good video and I leave you a like. I have the same GL552J computer. When I turn it on, it stays on for two minutes with the fan running, the LED on but the screen black, and after those two minutes it turns off completely. If you can tell me a solution I will appreciate it. All the best.
@estronciopirito7489 Remove the main battery, after that open the laptop and disconnect the Internal battery for 5min. After that plug back everything and try.
@@LaptopDisassembly Okay. I installed a new CR2032 battery on the motherboard. I will perform the test you say and remove it for 5 minutes. I'll tell you. Thank you so much
good video, but I would like to know if there is a solution to a problem I have which is that I uncovered my laptop to clean it and when I turned it on it did not turn on, it only turns on when it is connected to a plug, what can I do to help ;- ;
You mean it works fine on charger, but not on the battery. If yes, does it detect the battery or no... Try to replug the battery again. Press the battery reset pin, wait 5min and plug in the charger to activate it again. And power on the laptop.
@@LaptopDisassembly I forgot to say which laptop to clean! On my laptop which is asus a16 fa617ns because in Germany is expensive to clean (is estimated to 50€ here to clean)!I know is very expensive!Thank you!
@@draganvictor6901 In order to do so, i have to have this laptop on my bech. The procedure is the same, you can check this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xPX-V65X91g.html Just remove the back cover, disconnect the battery and proceed with removing the cooler.
I didn't disconnect battery before removing the screen cable... I was fixing the hinge.. After finish my screen is black not showing light.. But outside screen is working... Did I mess the screen because not removing battery first?
Hello, I have a question for you: Out of all of the laptops that you've seen, which laptop series/models stood out to you as particularly well-built, or well-designed?
Hard question, because it is all about the way they are used. From the regular model HP Probook series are quite durable. But is hard to point out something.
@GumicaG yes... The thing on the memory chips and vrm is a thermal putty. It is like a gum. I usually don't replace it. Just be careful not to touch it or move it around. Replace the paste only.
Finally got around to doing this and my laptop is immediatelly so much better! It used to start overheating after like 5 minutes of having a browser and Discord open and now it's so quiet I almost thought I didn't reconnect the fans properly 😂 temps according to the NitroSense used to be above 80°c and now they're in the 40's! Thank you for this step-by-step, it was genuinely very helpful!
Hi , hope u r doing well, I have a question please, what's the name of the material used with the solder to glue the keyboard and where I can find it ? Thanks
These are the plastic pieces that came off when I did remove the old keyboard. I just touch them with the solder iron, they stick to it and I bond them back to the plastic.
This model is notorious about hinge problem. They start to loose from the bottom cover and brake the plastic. If that is the problem you didn't brake them. They were already broken.
@@olaitanlabs5948 Use some hot glue or else ant try to glue it and put the screws between the upper and lower plastic. It should work fine. But first check is the power jack ok, coz sometimes he get broken also.
to make it easier to take apart just warm it up a tiny bit by running a game for a few seconds and then powering off your computer til it's cool enough to touch
My GPU fan is not working please help, I have cleaned the fans properly but the GPU fan is not working, I plugged and unplugged many times but the problem is not solved, the fans are not damaged , I have plugged the CPU port and it is working properly but not in the GPU port
