Awesome series of videos sir, you remind me of my favourite tafe teacher!!! Learnt souch fro. That guy, no nonsense and experienced thanks sir!!! I didn't know where to start before watching this haha
@@darrenlong3972 Thanks mate. I appreciate the comments. I'm glad it helped. I try to explain the basics as well as I can and put less time into the video and sound editing.
@@SullysRodskustoms. yeah i use the normal white pvc block of caps from Bunnings because the are thick and wont damage the seals. Works a treat everytime.
@SullysRodskustoms. stock number is 3140471 at bunning for a 1" cap $1.30. I use that to hit with the mallet and if I need more length I just get another section of pcv and glue it on. it seats the seals evenly first go and cheap as chips. cheers Ray
Great stuff. Just found your channel. Subbed... Just the ticket/confidence i need to get mine ticking. And bahaha, the check ball, and many other small parts. Into the abyss they go,with the fing odd socks and guitar picks..😂
@@benjohnson7170 thanks for showing interest in my channel. It's not a proffesionally edited channel by any means. The way I see it is the less time I spend Editing the more I can film shit to show people. Oh and I've bought a new camera and microphone. Some of the videos sound is shit. That should be a thing if the past now. 👍
@@benjohnson7170 I had a 308 th350 WB one tonner. I Tubbed alloy tray for some big wheels and tyres. That was back in the 90's and people said I was crazy for wrecking the tray. Now half of them have a tubbed tray. Someone has to start a trend hey? If you need to know anything and I can help out just reach out.
@@SullysRodskustoms. Ha , top stuff. It's been a long 20 something years away from Holden's for me. Wrxs and Mk1 Escorts Hondas. But something dragged me back. Getting pretty good at welding now..... But fark. Parts, Holy shit.. Great stuff you do mate. I was in media, years ago. I know it takes quite the effort.
@@benjohnson7170 be careful buying parts off market place. Make sure you get some fresh photos of what your after. Heaps of scammers out there now. Gone are the days of honesty and integrity, that boat sailed years ago and doesn't look like coming back. I git ripped off $780 on a tailshaft for my gts coupe I'm building. Check on the scammers pages fir the persons name, chances are they have already ripped someone else off.
@@williamchandler6151 you would notice the second half is louder. I bought a new camera with a levelier mic as I noticed the sound was crap in the first half. Next trick is to learn how to talk over the video after filming if the sound isn't good. Thanks for watching.
@@rhettcorbett3346 I remember not having much Money as kids. Used to get second hand bikes for birthdays or Christmas. But our parents did what they could afford. Still those old bikes would be worth a fortune now. Ever wanted to buy a bike you had when you were younger, just so you have one again?
@@bigal878 that's good advice. I take it you roll the engine upside down. Rotate the cam so the lifters stay up. Remove the cam. Rotate the engine right way up and knock the lifters down?
Howdy, ffs why are you belting it with a hammer? , here's a tip, next time try using a large open ended spanner or the handle of the hammer across the piston and push evenly on both sides, you will find that works better then beating the shit out of the piston,,
Absolutely love it mate, working on a 74 kingy was the only thing my grandpa left me and my brother, we started fixing her up same time you made these videos and they’ve been real helpful. We’re only 16 & 20 so we’re learning more about old cars every day!
@@caabbagge1120 glad you enjoy the videos. I'm goingvto document the whole build process of my hq gts coupe. So it shoukd continue to be helpful to you guys. Glad to see tge younger generation enjoying these old beasts. You can really keep your costs under control by rebuilding/repairing components yourself. Keep up the motivation levels lads.
@@randallmason9687 it starts smooth, idles smooth, revs well. Some times It has a splutter in one or two of the tb's. I thinknif I play around with the tune more it would definitely be street able. It needs to go in a car and a few under load runs logged, so I can check out its fuel map. If I had to do it again I wouldn't buy speed master, it required too many mods to fit it. It's definitely cheap and nasty.
This is the look do you think a lexon shroud could work to be able to add boost? There's nothing that looks classic like this for boosted applications. It looks modern SB4, Drag Race Holly high ram or Ferrari Eddie Brock cross ram.
@@randallmason9687 I've only has it running on my engine run stand. I think with a proper tune it will work great. It was alot of work to get it just to run. The speedmaster stuff is really poor on instructions and build quality.
Great video thanks mate. Loving these videos helping me prepare for work on my hj tonner. The workshop manuals are good but actually seeing it done helps so much more
@@troydowning2608 your welcome. The manuals are great. But there is alot missing from them. But a really good guide though. I've got the holden service manuals for a hq best investment ever if your building a hq/j/x/z. Thanks for watching.
@@AaronHooper-tb3ir thanks mate. I'm no proffesional photographer and my sound is sometimes up the shit, but I do what I can to show everything. Even the stuff ups. Glad you like them. I have a few more coming out this week. Brake proportioning valve abd brake bias valve rebuild. And some new merchandise out too.
@@drifterdrifter9558 yeh mate sorry. I have a video coming out in the next day or so where I purchased a new lapel mic. The sound is better on that one I think.
@@jkmsaturn it was a labour of love. Frustrating at times paying ridiculous prices fir second hand parts that I had to rebuild anyway. I've just started building my HQ GTS coupe, so keep watching, i think you will enjoy that too. 👍
@@kylehyatt9972 I don't think you should. The knock sensors are there to detect knock or problematic issues in the engine. Only checking on one side could miss something important that your ecm needs to know to throw up an engine code.
@@malcolmcooke2024 yeh I would love to Malcolm, but the car is a matching numbers GTS coupe and I'm taking it back to original. I have a cross ram injected LS1 on ky engine run stand I was considering dropping in it, but I couldn't do it to it. Thanks for watching. 👍
What amperage relay? Is it needed? The temperature sensor has 2 wires. .when you said cut...no polarity? Do you like the probe for the radiator fins? Nice
@@ari1234. 12AWG or 2.7mm wire including insulation. Capable of 40a max load and 30a running current. But this is dependant on your fan size. Smaller fan can be smaller wire. This info is for a large thermo. I have 2 medium size fans and I preffer the wire size is on the bigger size. Hope this helps and thanks for watching
They should have kept the lines , on the side , it not their car to change things unless ,consent too do so , , i would be pissed it was a design to the car , ,
@Philly-lq6zr Believe me, wasn't happy. But for them it was plausible deniability, sating not there problem that many times, they believed it. Saying Job was finished and car delivered on a flat bed. Not only that. They stole the brand new WB BRAKE booster/master cylinder I had on the car. I had to buy another set up. The they denied that too. Magically the next car out of their shop, a silver chevy c10 truck had that exact brake setup. Crooks.
You can get those ignition sensing relays at a good Auto Electrical store, or trigger a relay off your oil pressure, only turns on when engine is running.
Welcome, #700 lol such a small channel hey when i think its great that 700 people return each week because they like what they are seeing or hearing. It's always interesting knowing the demographics of the subscribers. Believe it or not I look each week at the breakdown of my channel. I know its only small and not well edited, but I like to keep it as real as I can with all the good stuff and the screw ups. I think people can relate more when they see my mistakes to learn from and gave a laugh.
@andrewharrison8880 I'm sticking with the standard dizzy as it's going in my hq gts coupe. It's a factory correct build. Matching numbers, So it all has to be as per factory. Thanks for watching, mate, much appreciated.
It's really hard to not cut the bad bits out and make it look like a perfect start up to make myself look good. But I think real guys appreciate seeing when shit goes bad, because it rarely goes right first time. Although my orange hq 308 cranked over and started 2nd or 3rd turn of the key. Thanks for watching.
Hi @user-dm1lk8dt4j I purchased them in black. Media blasted them and painted orange. Then a sanding block across the top of the fins to highlight them as alloy. Hope this helps.
@4ard4 yeh I have all of the house reno crap in the garage. The shed is full of hotrod parts. Hot rod in front of the garage on the. Chassis jig. I have the hq coupe shell on the rotisserie , the 253 engine on the cradle, the LS engine on the run stand, the coupe chassis will be back next week, so even less floor space. I even have all the coupe part in a bedroom in the house. Lol We are thinking about selling the house to buy a large property with a massive shed. It still won't be big enough.
I had Auto one (Auto pro) mix the engine enamel in aerosol cans as per my paint code. I primed the block first just a light coat. Then 1 light coat of engine enamel and 2 heavy coats.
