In this Video I show you step by step how to rebuild a Non Power Steer HQ Holden manual steering box.
Although the steering box worked fine in the car with only external oil leaks, when I open it up I get a nasty surprise.
One of the bearings had failed and there were balls all through the bottom of the case.
I'm not 100% sure if the balls were still in the race and only the cage failed, then when I released the preload on the bearings the balls just fell out , or if they had already fallen out and it was an automotive disaster waiting to happen if I didn't rebuild the steering box.
Either way, its now fully rebuilt and in excellent working condition.
