I understand the nostalgia, great series of cars. Late 90's I transferred over seas to The Hague in the Netherlands and the 740 series (especial the "il") was popular and hard to get back here in the states and so had fun and made extra $ getting them direct from BMW and drive back to rotterdam or go through the chunnel and shipping back home. Fun to take a date, have lunch at the factory overlooking the assembly line as "your new BMW" rolls off the line and drive cross country in europe...

Hoovies' intro, kudos. Also, the car is awesome! Crazy, I have the same birthday, I had an '87 manual 325(tho mine was an iS), and we lived in Jax when we got married in '96.

My project car is my Grandpa's 1986 Ford F350 that quit running and he parked in the bush 30 years ago. It's been nice to have a project that isn't at home that I can take a day and dedicate it to just wrenching and not get distracted by the typical home maintenance needs. I've managed to get it running again, but the last 3 decades haven't been as friendly to it and it needs head gaskets and a round of new brakes.

My first BMW was a 1993 318is coupe, 4 cylinder 5 speed with M3 wheels. She had high miles at 230k but ran like a top and was fun to drive, got a ‘94 i6 five speed afterwards and that was super fun. Then I got a ‘92 w124 Mercedes and that was it! Benz was so much better, great build quality and very reliable

I believe you could get some tin and paint and create your own Euro style plate with US on the left, CB initials, your magic numbers and an actual stick shift symbol. Maybe make a mold top and bottom on your CNC and press them together with the tin in the middle. You can do it!

I gave up my dreams for my wife’s until she got where she wanted to be. The day she actually walked for her dr. Degree, was same day as finalization of my divorce from her. I will never be with her again regardless of her decisions. I still love her and want nothing bad to her honestly. I ain’t perfect but kinda robbed me of a lot of my life for all explained and many things not said on both sides. But don’t take my advice. Try to forgive the other almost always. But find the razor line of when to just quit. It’s best for all. I am so happy you have been given so much and gave so much too. You two are perfect for each other at each times in your lives. Keep pushing forward. Push on.

Congratulations on the car, and I loved the video!! For me, it’s an early 80’s Mustang that takes me back. While I’ve had several true muscle cars, the little black 81 that I fixed up after buying it totaled taught me so much about life, cars, and the like. Nostalgia is a powerful thing!!!!

I can relate! I'm just finishing up restoring my 1974 Chevy Nova Spirit of America special. I've had it since 1974 when my father gave it to me for college grad present. It's a sweet little straight 6 cyl, 3 spd manual on the floor and will run again like a dream. It still had the all original front end and suspension on it and am just about finished rebuilding that.

As you mention that a manual transmission is now called anti-theft, it reminds this 63 year-old that when I learned to drive my father taught me with his 1969 Ford pick-up that had a 3 speed on the column (3 on the tree). Ask the youth of today what a 3 on the tree is and you will only get a stare.

Chris, I recall making a deal with my wife a fair few years ago. The deal was if i bought a bigger house for our family then i could buy myself a TVR sports car that was manufactured here in the UK. I bought the house she wanted for our family in the countryside and me thinking now I can go buy my car, oh no she got me big time!!! I ended up buying a jeep grand cherokee V8 4.7ltd addition petrol of all thing's as my wife told me the car i was going to buy was not right for the family 😵‍💫😤😳. I couldn't believe that the love of my life had tricked me, i felt gutted especially when I sat down one day with all my fuel receipts for one week and it was just a little over £1,140. I almost chocked when I saw the actual amount of money I had spent on petrol for just a week. Needless to say not long after I got rid of that car even though it was great to drive and oh boy talk about being fast, it was like driving a rocket 😂😅🫣.

1st time I have seen 7 series manual. I just got my g11 750d to be my summer car. You should not wax it, you really should apply ceramic coating. I just did my hilux and g11 and it is a lot of work but really worth the effort.
@simonr6793
@simonr6793 Месяц назад
Chris, automatic car owners are just lazy. I've been driving manual cars for over 30yrs and here in the UK, when doing your driving lessons, you can learn either a manual or an automatic then do your test for that car. You might be the same in the USA i don't know. That said if you pass your test here in a manual your able to drive either one on the road but if you only pass in a automatic car then that's all your able to drive. As soon as I saw your car I automatically thought of the transporter movie's 😂😅

LS Swap
@martinsvensson6884
@martinsvensson6884 Месяц назад
Would lose all the refinement and make fuel economy much worse. Not the car you do that to.
@antipasinchrist
@antipasinchrist Месяц назад
@martinsvensson6884 arent BMWs known for oil leaks? An LS is a V8. It could be roughly the same hp/torque/fuel mileage, but better reliability.
@martinsvensson6884
@martinsvensson6884 Месяц назад
@@antipasinchrist The LS is a simpler engine construction. Its not as refined as the BMW engine. Cheaper of course. Perfect if youre going to build a hot rod. Or you have a car without a functioning engine. But doesnt really fit that car. Going to use more fuel too and be heavier. Part of the "being simpler" formula.
@billylisenbee8437
@billylisenbee8437 Месяц назад
@@martinsvensson6884 A V8 fits that car perfectly. The 2.8L inline 6 is not enough oomph for a fullsized BMW. A 4.8L or 5.3L LS would fit nicely in the engine bay. No hotrodding necessary because the stock camshafts would offer a refined ride. The fuel economy on the I6 isn't great.
@martinsvensson6884
@martinsvensson6884 Месяц назад
@@billylisenbee8437 It pulls ok with a manual. Dont really need more. Especially not in the US. But sure a V8 can fit a 7-series. But then you just buy a 740.. You dont put an LS into a BMW with an already functioning engine. It wont fit the character of the car. Needs to be a refined V8. The LS is not a very high tech engine. That's why it fits hot rodding. But not a BMW 7.

Bless your heart Chris! Your a beast! The attention to detail, the way you pack your produces! Your a beast as i said! Chris brother, OMG man. It's been way too long my friend. I've been so busy with life, I haven't had a chance to check in. Busy with life my friend! You already know! Anyhow excuses aside, lol. I just can't believe it. That lego sorter is epic Chris, Epic! Also I'm gonna order a couple, three of your tool holders. That way, I can see what, Milwaukee brand tools, will fit into the tool holder! And therefore, if i need an XL tool holder, or nah! (I'm sure I'll be picking up an XL tool holder, sooner than later! ) Anyhow, I digress. I hope that YOU, your WIFE, your SON, and your DAUGHTER are doing fantastic, amazing, spectacular, and great all rolled into one!! PS. I'm gonna have to pick up one of those Lego sorters up, for my daughter! (She's 11, as of the day before yesterday!) PS+ lol, just an update: Our babygirl (2.5 years old) went thru her 17th surgery about 4 weeks ago! And her recovery is going pretty well also! I just wanted to let you know how things have been! I truly hope you and your family are doing awesome! Take it easy brother, and until next time!
