This song is flawless, a work of genius. There are at least four great songs on that album, really really great, and Carry On...is not one of those four. I am sick of it being overplayed for more than forty years. Steve Walsh sings this so beautifully, and Kerry and Rich's guitars are sublime.

The opening section is essential for the song. I admit that the first couple times listening to it, a long long time ago, I used to skip it, but now that I know what's coming and how the song ends, I enjoy this as much as the rest of the song. Probably because I'm looking forward. Anticipation is the greatest joy.

I am not sure if it was cause I bought the CD around release or just was paying attention to the initial music video, but I knew pretty early on it was a satirically take on pop songs/artists/industry, and that was part of it's charm when it was in heavy rotation on radio/MTV for me.
