Always liked Wayne but he was a mythic hero! The real hero’s like Audie murphy fought and died in WW2. Many actors served in battle. Wayne served in front of the camera. No hero, just actor pretending to be a hero. Great actor that’s it.
Nice to see you today and enjoyed the bit on Treasure Island as I visited a family there during the Viet Nam era. I was hoping you would leaf thru the book on stamp collecting by James -- as I have been thinking about buying it and suddenly you were gone. Would you consider doing a review of a few books that beginners might find helpful?
I do enjoy Lane's movies, but hate his directors. They had many of his fist fights last silly long. My favorite western series was "The Durango Kid"- he usually concluded a fight with 2-3 punches. Plus, Rocky rode a horse the hollywood way- with both hands fisted on the reins up at his sternum. In all my years a'horseback, in S. Texas, I never saw anyone do that.
I love this episode! Got more chuckles than from a straight-up comedy! @8:53, Rocky is using the 'hollywood-two-fisted-rein-grip' that most "cowboy actors" were taught. I've ridden horses since I was 20 (74 now) and pushed cattle down in S.Texas, rode on 150 mile trail rides, and I've never seen any horseman do that. Few used both hands on the reins, and even they didn't hold their hands up by the sternum.
Although he was married 5 times when he married his last wife he was 42 and she was 22. They were married for many years until he died. She lived until she was in her nineties before she died. 😊😊😊😊😊😊
You have your sprawling westerns like Heaven's Gate or the Spaghetti westerns but sometimes you just want an all action film with a clean cut hero,dasterdly villains and comic relief with plenty of fist fights all fitted in to 55 minutes of non stop thrills and spills and this done that perfectly thanks for posting.
Well, this movie left me with a few unanswered questions. Unless I missed it I never knew who murdered the son and I don't believe the daughter's death was an accident. I think maybe Merrit hired someone to kill both the son and his wife. 😮😮😮😮😮
High patrol on the horseback. A different and simpler world from ours. Beyond that, it was pretty a world inhabited by same greedy species, human beings terminating each other over resources. A. Kirkuk
