Welcome to Amity Tracks. This is a channel where we discuss a wide range of music related topics. The focus will be on music from the 1960’s through the 1990’s, but not exclusively. Classic rock, progressive rock, psychedelic rock, hard rock, jazz, blues, folk, country, soul…all genres are fair game. From time to time we may dabble in other popular culture, such as film, history or sports. But music is primarily what we do here. The focus is on the music and the artists. We hope to encourage an open and dynamic community with fun and informative discussions not only in the videos, but also in the comments section. Please note that, while disagreement and discussion is welcome, no personal attacks or out of bounds comments will be tolerated. We want to be a part of the positive larger #vinylcommunity and other like-minded, music focused communities.
I mostly agree with this guy's opinions and points of view. However, his album ranking is nothing but cookie-cutter -average semi-ignorant, to put Raoul and Elemental at the very bottom is simply lazy-reckless, Raoul was a weird, awful title, but the album is chuck full of goodies and hidden gems, and the bonus tracks are just phenomenal, including a duet with Oleta Adams. This guy did not carefully listen to the whole thing. About Elemental, I will say something short here, he is obviously not familiar with GOOD NIGHT SONG. I take this song over any track from the Hurting, which I consider a lightweight and just an ok album. This guy also failed to mention Roland's side project Tomcats ...Give Hey Andy a listen. I get the feeling this guy doesn't like when Roland rocks he wants TFF to keep recording Everybody wants to rule the world over and over, like any average guy who is familiar with TFFand only knows that song. ...and maybe Shout on a good day.
Dude you lost me on your first two albums, that's the reason they broke up Roland wanted to go a different direction musically which he did, how can you not like Fish Out Of Water and Mr Pessimist, he dominated solo wise on theses two albums, I don't think you know there history enough to do album reviews, did you expect Roland to try and sound like there first 2 albums? The very reason what's separates them from every other group.. They don't have an album that sounds the same there constantly evolving and Roland and Curt do not sound the same I can tell the difference between who's singing immediately!

Tower of power always kicked ass at the Fillmore . I saw them open many a show featuring music from "East Bay Grease", I went to every night of the final week except Wednesday and I thought the only glaring omission from the final run of shows on the album was anything from Creedence Clearwater Revivals "surprise" set on closing night. I hadn't really been a fan till I saw them at the Fillmore that night. Incredible set.
1. Foxtrot 2. Lamb 3. Trick 4. I dunno… i guess Cryme, Trespass or England. Never even really bothered to get into the rest, don't sound interesting enough at first glance. Tried the most with Wind, love Rooftops but the rest is kind of meh imo.
A persons politics is about as personal as it gets. It’s speaks to your values as a human. So you cannot spit on his political songs and praise his personal songs. Politics is personal.
Thanks for covering JB. Surprised You choose The Night Inside Me from The Naked Ride Home. I much prefer Don’t you wanna be there and Casino Nation, which is a song that forecast the mess that the USA finds itself in now in 2024.
After Outside I heard "no more 90s albums in here", skipped. Glad that Outside made it in the top tho. I think Black Tie, Outside, Earthling, Hours, Heathen, Reality are absolutely sublime
lol definitely an interesting discussion. A few surprise picks there! Probably for me: Neil Young Harvest; Beatles White Album; Van Morrison Into The Music. Always great content on this channel, luv it.
Favourite song on every album Silent sun The knife Return of giant hogweed Suppers ready Dancing out in moonlight knight In the cage Dance on a volcano Afterglow Burning rope Turn it on again Do do lurker Home by the sea Domino part 1 and 2 Driving last spike Congo No bad albums
Roky Ericksons solo stuff is great. As far as the 13th floor elevators I could never get past that jug, it's like nails on a chalk board. If there was a way they could do a recording and erase or edit that jug out I'd probably like it.
I agree. Funny part is, you can definitely see how the acid affected the way they thought, because who the hell says gee a jug with a mic right on it with me blowing on it would sound good? Lol he wrote a lot of lyrics.
Blonde on blonde has a lot of dumb, superficial imagery. The chord structures are pop. Very simplistic pop. The opposite of Bringing it Back Home which has the profound It's All Right Ma and Gates of Eden. Blonde on Blonde has some fun moments, but I get the joke early. Clearly, Visions of Johanna and Sad Eyed Lady are the exceptions that prove the rule. Blood on the Tracks is a great batch of tragic love balads. I don't know how you could compare that with all the fascinating poetry of Freewheeling, The Times are Changing, and Bringing it all back home.
Jackson is himself! Very particular with writing his music! I love everything! It's probably where he was in life! His voice has endured! I recently had the. Pleasure of seeing him for two nights. In Vegas. He's truly gifted !!
The only reason I bought that box set back in ‘72 was for the Quicksilver Messenger Service tracks (unfortunately this was the Return Of Dino Valenti era…but, I suffered through it)
The Plane! My biggest fans! 😜You miss the boat on Crown of Creation(MHO): all good stuff. some great. And is see arguably the pop edge of SP may swing one to that obvious choice, but you clearly see the greatness o Baxters'. But the studio albums SP thru Volunteers are all great and i guess you don't argue that point. Thanks for a fun listen. BTW should not underrate Spencer's contribution to Spare Change and every record he played on. He brought that hard-to-place jazz feel to it all, and Jorma and Jack saw in retro it was not the best choice to push him out (there were other reasons, too, i hear) Thanks again
Love Undercover. I actually like Bridges to Babylon more than Voodoo Lounge (although there's some good songs on it). Goats Head Soup is a definite top 10 for me.
1. Sticky Fingers 2. Aftermath 3. Beggars Banquet 4. Exile 5. Let it Bleed 6. December's Children 7. Goats Head Soup 8. Some Girls 9. Out of Our Heads 10. Undercover
Not my favorite Police album. The synthesizers and horns make the sound weak. I never liked the back up singers when they played live either. Glad they took them out during the reunion tour.
I’ve got original copies of some of his albums, the debut through to Tonight’s The Night, I’d love to seek out the originals and maybe find a few represses for stuff that’s a little harder to find. I at least would like originals of all the 60’s and 70’s stuff lol.
I would consider myself a new fan of Neil’s. I’ve always liked a few songs from before, when I was a kid. But recently I started to really go deep into his stuff. So far I’ve heard all three Buffalo Springfield albums, Deja Vu/CSNY, and everything from his debut to Rust Never Sleeps. And I truly love all of it. I’ve listened to Homegrown, Hitchhiker and Chrome Dreams, loved those as well. And a few days ago I finally received the first archives box set, the long box edition on Blu Ray. Truly am blown away by that, the quality of the content is outstanding. These sets are growing more expensive but I feel I’m becoming that big of a fan where theses sets are going to be appreciated.! I need volume 2 next.!
