Exactly. If you can include the influences and tangential genres, it encompasses a lot. And that is why I don't mind having inductees like Miles Davis and Willie Nelson in there, because even though they are associated with other genres, they had an impact on a lot of rock too.
@@amitytracks Right!!! And guitarists like Charlie Christian, Kenny Burrell or Eddie Lang back in 1927 definitely influenced Rock'n'Rollers like Chuck Berry, Keith Richards or Jerry Garcia. Some Sax Improvisations by Coltrane may be found in the Byrds or Dead Oeuvre etc

It does feel like they're scraping the bottom of the barrel. Nothing against Sinead O'Connor as a person, but on the American side of the Atlantic Ocean she's a one hit wonder (and she didn't even write her one hit song). She also wasn't musically influential. If they're gonna put her in, then they should just put in all one hit wonders in the Hall.
I actually don't listen to a lot of her music, but I think she's a bit more than a one hit wonder. She had a cultural impact, and I do think at time embodied the rebellious, rock and roll spirit. And she was a hell of an artist.
Mary J Blige actually sang one of Mariah’s songs to get her record deal & cites her as one of her biggest inspirations so it’s nice seeing them here together. Although Mariah signed as a pop/r&b artist, her first performance was with Michael Bolton & she often sang covers of rock ballads throughout her career. She even wrote an entire alt rock/grunge album in 1996 under the name “Chick” and nobody knew it was her until 2020.
Interesting, thanks for the info. Like I said in my video, they are both a bit outside of my musical wheelhouse, but you can't deny Blige's influence and impact, and Mariah has been a huge figure in pop music for a long time. I can even forgive her for that Christmas song we are forced to listen to over and over each season.
I’m predicting it will be Mariah Carey Cher A Tribe Called Quest Kool & The Gang Oasis Foreigner Ozzy Osbourne Dave Matthews Band Those 8 through the main Performers category There will be several inductees through the side categories but I am predicting the ones that will stand out from those said categories I think Peter Frampton will get through the Musical Excellence category alongside Devo who was previously nominated in 2019,2021 and 2022 but didn’t get the votes needed to get in And I think MC5 who has been nominated like 6 times previously will get through the Early Influence route in honor of the unfortunately recently departed from this world Wayne Kramer

Bryan Adams hasn't been nominated once in 20 years. My god he has only sold 100 millions records, written songs for countless other artists like Kiss and Rod Stewart. And is currently touring the world and sounded like he did in 1985.
His time may come. I think the induction of Lionel Richie opens the door for a few 80s solo acts who sort of border on rock, like Phil Collins, Sting solo and Adams.
It's a pretty good list of nominees overall. It could have been better, but it's better than what their nominees sometimes are. I agree with you that Kool & the Gang and Mary J. Blige should go in.
Anything close to musical prowess is not acceptable to John Wenñer and the rest of his tin ear henchmen, judges. As of late it's more about who isn't in the HOF , considering that there is a Rap and Hip-hop hall of fame, country music Hall of Fame, country music Hall of Fame. Latin music Hall of Fame, Jazz Hall of Fame, it seems Rock and Roll is definitely watered down. I don't a huge issue who gets in. Its who has not even been nominated from the 60s. There are plenty of non platinum bands and artists that were more than this current list.
I gave up on the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame a long time ago, as its main criteria is no longer Rock and it's Roots (Country, Blues, Rhythm'n' Blues, Doo Wop) but commercial success. 😮 However in this year's nominees there's the fantastic Oasis who together with Stone Roses and Blur Kickstarter Britpop (apparently not very successful in USA, Canada in contrast to Europe). Oasis succeeded in the alchemical wedding of joint Beatle melodies to the Stones power 💪. Then there's Ozzy and Sinead who should have been inducted some time before, plus Peter Frampton. Don't forget the great work he did with The Herd (From the Underworld, Paradise lost, 1967) and Humble Pie😀 Thanks again for an interesting video and I can't wait for your Top 10 of misses😂
