History and aviation. If these two words mean something to you, then you are in the right place. Here, you will find amazing stories about famous airplanes, historical events, or exceptional people that have changed the world of aviation or turned out to be unfairly forgotten. The stories that I tell may sound so incredible that you might think they are taken from Hollywood scripts, but they all truly happened.
Most of the described events are quite old and more suited to paper books, but my goal is to transfer them carefully into videos so everyone can enjoy them.
I want to save these stories from oblivion by putting them in Paper Skies.
Fuck, those images at the beginning of the video unlocked a core memory. I had a comic book with a really similar style of pictures, but it was about Polish helicopter pilots, I believe? I need to dig it up once I return to my family's house.
Ironically USSR personnel most used to having to follow rules were most likely to break them. This is what happens when your are taught to follow rules based solely on authority rather than reason.
I like how Russians f*cked up every f*cling time and blame it on the CIA /capitalism. "nope we haven't a problem, it's them" They used to have good engineers given that mathematics, hard sciences more broadly and chess were the state religion. It's not the same culture...so much potential wasted.
Tampons were originally gunshot treatment in WW1. It became feminine after the war as repurposing a product, because (despite what the news says) gunshots are rare in America
The propaganda is strong on both sides. Too bad both sides act like fucking animals and you're so easily coersed into fighting a war by the same foreign interest.
I love how the air force said "You can make slight changes to your paint scheme" and the Maryy pilots' response was "IMMA MAKE MY PLANE LOOK LIKE AN ANGRY SHARKKKK!" 😂❤
Beer-bellied pilots? If they at least had no mustaches! A mustache lowers not just your g-tolerance by 2 gs but also your IQ by 20! A study with US motorcycle cops has proven that. But they also become more trigger-happy. Therefor it is not always black and white as in Western as well as Soviet propaganda! ;) Keep up such good work! I'm craving for more Soviet era first-hand experiences!
Can anyone identify the jet at 42:32 ? A prototype of some sort? I've _read_ about an experimental version of the MiG-23, with delta wings and VTOL capability, but never seen any pictures. Is that what this is?
Very interesting how bad the soviets wanted to put cannons on planes, but their mass produced early models such as the i-15 and i-16 were pittifuly armed with prone to malfunction light machine guns lacking proper sights
