Hello, I am British and have been living in Shanghai since 2010, and first visited in 2006 when there were only 4 metro lines, it now has 18, depending on which you count. Please join me (and my sometimes partner / son William) as we explore the ever-expanding transportation network here in Shanghai and China. My channel has mainly been about public transportation systems in Shanghai and Asia, but I am branching out into general tourism tips and also covering some of the very popular expos that are mainly in Shanghai.

Thank you for making this video! I lived in Anting for about 10 years, unfortunatly had to leave China at the beginning of COVID. Watching your video is just like being back home. Used to ride line 11 every day to and from work. It's pleasure to see how the infrastructure there is progressing.

Great video, Tim. Seems Ningbo is more bike friendly than Shanghai. I also wonder why there aren't such rent ebikes in Shanghai and one guess is those escooters already cause so much mess.

A bit irrelevant perhaps, but China seems centuries ahead of the west. And millennia ahead of my third world country, india. I would recommend no one to inspect our country's metro system after you have watched this video.

great video... what massive changes from when I lived in Shanghai the 1st time - a few years in the mid-80s - at that time the World Bank took part in sponsoring a mega-clean-up of the Suzhou Creek.. - on the "other" side, HongKou side.. was not much... some Shanghai-nese will claim the area is dangerous and nothing to do with Shanghai.. back in the day, on a hot summer day.. the "smell" or stench was really something.. ok, i am exaggerating, but it looked like the water was hardly moving, due to untreated waste being dumped - and dumped in big quantities. Today.. yea, another of Shanghai's beauty spots

Thanks for your feedback, I was first in in 2006 so Suzhou creek already cleaned by then

yes, correct, they stayed at the Huating Sheraton.. - the first hotel with an outdoor elevator in Shanghai.. I was living, as an expat, in Shanghai during these great years in the 80s.. fantastic city... Steven Spielberg said that seeing the "peasant" visitors looking at Sheraton's outdoor elevator going up and down, during evening time, with all the lights, was the closest he had seen of "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" in real life... yea... it was an amazing sight... we looked at the tourists/visitors, they looked at us... well, a great place was the Jazz Band at the Peace Hotel... oldest player 87.. happy times / great memories

The thumbnail is awesome, But Views are low according to subscribers in your video. the SEO score of your videos is very low And your video title and description are not SEO-related. If you improve these sections of your videos, your channel views and subscribers will increase organically. If you are interested in solving those problems then please feel free to reply to me

@timmytumbler

Yes you can, there are several metro stations close to the creek, probably the closest being Xinhua on line 1, but if you are at Nanjing east then just take line 10 north by one stop and walk 2-300m south
