What a huge gift to be able to watch this beautiful rendition of Johannes Brahms` 2nd concerto with my long-time favourites - pianist Igor Levit and conductor Christian Thielemann and the Vienna Philharmonics (perfect match) - three months before the official release of the Brahms concertos on CD.
She always gives value for money, never skimping on the encores . Her playing is so demanding of our attention when appropriate nd so fluid and gentle at other times, she is a truly great pianist.
In general, if you dislike a pianist, you'll directly skip any video about him/her, and then RU-vid will recommend the videos based on your search history. There's one "prestigious" commentator here who considers the pianist's performance rather so-so. Interestingly, he/she has appeared in the comment section of this video and written critical comments for multiple times. How is it possible?
I always start with the aria followed by variations 3 and 26 to get a sense of the player’s technical prowess and artistry. I stopped after 26. What an absolute nonsense! It’s the musical equivalent of a man determined to finish before his wife mentions the word clitoris.
Hey, he's adding a note here! I'm currently learning the n1 and clearly the low C at the end doesn't exist. I've checked in several editions. I like the sound of it (I love Pletnev) but you're not supposed to add notes to Chopin's music. Come on Mikhail.
Trifonov's performance at the end of the third movement leaves a lingering impression of the performance expressed with his own unique sensibility for a long time. I hear it over and over again.
I always think that Lang is born for playing Tchaikovsky's pieces. There's nothing wrong to try Mozart's, Beethoven's and Chopin's pieces which he indeed played impressively. But...why not to find out one particular area that brings out the best of him and associates him with one big name of classical music. It's definitely safe for him to play Tchaikovsky, and make it a series in an album.
I find her outfit degrading…as if female pianist have to fall back to “sell” their body to gain some attention. The times of totally confident performers like Martha Argerich who shine through their performances and not the level of “nudity” on display seems to be over…unfortunately!
