Alexander Malofeev spielt Rachmaninows berühmtes Klavierkonzert Nr. 2 beim Folle Journée in Nantes 2023.

He is absolutely incredible - no words can describe. He played this piece with the Pasadena Symphony over the weekend and not only were the 2 concerts the highest grossing concerts in the history of the Pasadena Symphony, I believe he has the record for encores (Prokofiev and Tchaikovsky) and standing ovations.....a once in a lifetime marvel. If he ever plays near you (or not-so-near) you will have one of the best experiences in your life.

I've also seen him play it also. You don't need to look further for a better interpretation. Alexander is my top young Russian pianist by a long shot. Check out his performances of Prokofiev's 3rd if you want a pleasant surprise. You can see that Alexander's soul and spirit are inseparable from his music.

I had the chance to see and to listen Alexander together with Munich Symphony Orchestra conducted by Johannes Debus at 17th of April 2023 at Munich Isarphilharmonie. It was an extraordinary performance of this 2nd piano concert. A perfect harmony of piano and orchestra. It was Rachmaninov absolutely at it's best.

@muc matthias , Hello Muc, please tell this old fan of Alexander if he looked well and a bit happy? He has not been home for so long. I met him Oct. 1st. 2022 in Amsterdam and he missed his family. Thank you Muc.

I also saw Alexander play the Rachmaninov 2 in Pasadena. I have been following him on FB for the last 4 years. I was determined to see him live when he came to Southern California. His interpretation was transporting. His superb technique allows him to communicate on a deep level with his hearers, and he is generous in sharing what’s in his heart and mind. A singular experience.

I heard him play this last night with the Seattle Symphony and was just blown away. The way he made the music live and breathe just took my breath away. He so obviously loves playing and communicates it very well.

Me gustaría escucharle interpretar a Chopin, Bach o Beethoven... Bravo Alex!!!

First of all, thank you very much for your upload. ....but poor Alexander I'm sorry what did this band do? I wanted to throw the TV off the wall. Every sound in this band is delayed. They couldn't catch up with Malofeev. They kept holding Him back.

Yes, I agree. This band definitely needed a band-aid. Alexander does play up-tempo, but the orchestra should follow the soloist's lead. Michael Tilson Thomas did that with the Boston Symphony superbly last summer when Alexander played the Rach3 at Tanglewood. They had wonderful synchronicity in a very exciting performance.

A very awkward performance. He rushed through a lot of sections without any nuance or detail, and when he wasn't rushing, he was usually playing in a very ungainly manner.
