I love how it's the original art brought into 3D. Amazing job. I've been trying to model X and Boomer Kuwanger for years (on and off), but the issue that I always come across is this: How do rig them in order for them to walk, while also maintaining the original hard surface/anime designs. Their underwear armor is made of metal, so when i try animating like an human character, it streches and it looks weird, and because it's suppose to be hard surface, I sometimes struggle just getting the legs to barely reach 60 degrees. The closes thing I got was to have the legs seperate, and have them intersect with the underwear armor.
That's a great question and a big dilemma indeed. Cartoons can always cheat by just drawing things how they like and how it fits the shot. But here in 3d world we need to get creative. I for myself just take some creative liberties. I enhance the design by a few joint parts or seams. I didn't have any problems with the pants so far but when I get to X I will probably redesign them in a way, that they will have some movement. Ball joints help a lot to get some flexibility into the character. Look at action figures, they're mostly rigid but still can move quite a bit. Boomer has fortunately some flexible joint parts as well, that really helped me to make him flexible. Good luck with your project! ✌️🍀

Hehe yeah maybe 😁 But be aware that capcom will come for you if you try to make a single penny off that game. They tolerate fan-made stuff but not when you try to make money with their IPs.
see videos at start. oh boy I can feel the struggle coming a mile away. watching now. Update after watching. 0-0 MAN IM A SCRUB. Yeah. Give this model a good show for us, because wow. I said in the past I dipped my toes into this type of animation before, this however I've never seen this many model parts in one 3d model. CAPCOM HIRE THIS GUY FOR LIVE ACTION/CGI ANIMATED MEGAMAN MOVIE. That being said, I can almost see Kuwangers mavericks episode. Since his stage in is in a tower of some sort, it could be a good set piece for an action scene really. MY head cannon, the tower crumbles, and he needs to run his way out of it. Since you put so much effort into this guy, it makes me wonder what he'll look like damaged or if he's even damaged at all. But only you know. On another topic. The last 3 mavericks. I know flame mammoth will be a titian to work on, armadillo has some bulk in him, and chill penguin feels like the easiest one due to his size alone. Honestly I'm concerned on how you will approach them, but I do see the assets you have so I can worry less about it, but still. I barley touch blender due to how complex it is, but then again I just got to touch it more and learn from it. But yeah. I'm done blabbing for now. Well done and Can't wait for the next episode.

Sometimes I feel the characters look weathered. So is realism also weathered, or not so we can have unweathered (pristine) realism, or weathered cartoonism?
Well there are two sides to that: - realism is indeed imperfect. There is always some sort of wear, damage, dust, dirt or scratch on almost everything. So if something is perfectly clean it actually seems off. So yes, a weathered look sells realism more and easier to create than a sleek and perfect but also realistic look. - Also it tells a story and supports the character. He has been in battle and fought many times. That leaves some scars, damages and wear. Without those we would think he just came out of fresh and sterile production and that would also feel weird.
So that's why Mega Man X have to fight them again at the end of the game. That's very cool. That's better that the explanation given in Mega Man Maveric Hunter X about Sigma repairing them but without their personality.
Haha... well at the time of creation that wasn't my idea at all 😁 But some people have mentioned that it could be an explanation so now I'm considering it being official in my timeline 😄
YOOOOO! The shoulder and wrist lights in the dark though! What great reference detail! It gave me goosebumps! Gah, I am geeking out so hard! I hope more are in development! I echo everyone's sentiment about a movie in this style!

Stunning work!! I just watched the 4 Mavericks animations. Seeing the process of building the characters is such a treat. @mastersofnone in the comments already mentioned but, Wheres all the damn viewers for this!? lol. Just further proof to myself that my, and everyone here,'s taste in youtube videos is just too sophisticated and advanced for most people... sigh ;D. I do some basic voxel animation stuff and this is inspiring!

So damn beautiful. It’s amazing how you cover a whole range of emotions with such a nice pace. Not to count the technical aspect which is marvelous. Congrats 🎉

Btw, one thing that catches my attention is that the more realistic Reploids get, the less believable it is that they are capable of doing crazy things like: Charged Shots Black holes with gravity F*cking Tornados All kind of elemental Weapons Creation of matter with energy (X basically does this with his variable weapon system for example) Time and Space manipulation (Cyber-space as well) Intangibility Changing the composition of their body (like acid) or a complete alteration of their physique by data (Is DNA-Soul thing) and etc. Heck, the very concept of DNA-Soul doesn't seem possible in this realism haha xD.
That's a very good a critical point! I thought about that too. And the thing is that my interpretation of those characters doesn't have ALL those abilities. At least I am not planning on showing all of these. I only focus on X1. This whole universe is set in a more grounded reality. It's not easy for sure to make it all work 😅 So when I show some of those powers eventually, they will be a mix of sci-fi and believable reality. Like mandrills electricity which is generated by his massive coils on his shoulders. That's usually enough to make it all believable. X's weapon switching will also be a more haptic concept, so without any Armor colour switching or things materialising out of thin air. I am willing to adapt those powers to make them realistic but still true to their original form. You'll see when I get there. The only power we'll see in the first 8 episodes will be boomers speed. There I can't really cheat. He's just fast 😁 The real weapons will probably appear in the final episodes 😉 So yeah we'll see how I manage to make it work. I'm curious myself 😁
