Started with an slx dc, loved it so much I ordered the 2023 Antares DC MD XG for big swim baits. The biggest problem with DC reels is not having more 😂 I will say my Curado 71 mgl is dope af even if it’s not a dc reel. Anything Shimano will be high quality regardless if it’s a dc or not🤘🏼
One thing that can't be discounted: the benefit of DC to people learning to use a bait casting reel. I've owned DC reels since they came out...I like them a lot...
@@FurtherNorth absolutely, however I think it kind of takes the “learning” out of it. Practice makes perfect. They absolutely have their time and place, but I think the DC aspect is a bit misleading with how it’s advertised!
@@joebobsbass as you get better, you turn the DC functions down... ...and they're still there when you want them, like all the windy days we've had here this season.
Hey jo Bob when I first started chatterbait fishing I can't tell you how many Bass I caught on a bluegill color. Have fun bro thanks for the video. Ps z man has a couple of really nice realistic bluegill color.
@@Brody-og9du thanks! Learned this after some research. Thought they were invasive for awhile, and lots of people do still kill/eat them because they can for sure do some harm to a fishery.
Bought the 795 for beginner glidebait throwing. 6th sense flow, s-waiver, etc. Like you, probably going to stay at or under 3oz. Was amazed how tip light & balanced it was. Love it!! Yes, very hard to beat for the $
I can say that I've used a lot of different lures for largemouth and the one that catches more fish than any other for me has been the 5" Senko texas rigged with a small bullet weight. Anywhere and anytime.
The pin tail is amazing on a bladed jig. I use the spunk shad. Used others but it seems like the bladed jig just works better with a pintail type trailer.
If the spool isn't enough for you, just get a daiwa exceler. Its pretty much the same reel just with more spool options. As far as the Carbonlite stuff goes i preferred the rods more than the reels they tried to pair them with.
And of course, now that I look at it more closely, it appears that it is not available through amazon even though they have the product on the site... I do KNOW that you can find it in my showcase on my tiktok profile and order it there, but I can understand that that is more of a hassle to get to! @joebobsbass is my TikTok name as well.
I bought a Kastking Speed Demon because is was one of the fastest spinning reels you could buy at the time. It didn't last more than a month before it started to get sloppy. I have seen some Kastking products since that look pretty good, but after my experience I'm having a hard time going back..
I have spent over $200 on the Plano & Flambeau boxes mostly because they deteriorated after a season or two due to UV. The last ones I bought I sprayed with a UV protection clear coat and it helps but it gums up the hinges. Are these UV tolerant?
Absolutely LOVE Kastking products!! I have had (3) 3700 and (1) 3600 boxes for about 4 months now and can't wait to get a few more so I can do away with some of my cheap ones. I have (2) Brutus spinning reels, A Brutus Baitcasting reel, A Royale Legend II Baitcasting reel and I absolutely love them and you can't beat the price!! I even had (2) Brutus spincast reels and they also work great. I unfortunately didn't maintain them properly so the drag froze up so, I just actually purchased another spincast reel because they are so inexpensive, they are GREAT for the novice fisherman who doesn't have a ton of money to spend, every time they need to replace gear. I have other products as well, like the line spooler, Cutthroat scissors and pliers set, tackle bag, etc., etc. Also have a variety of Kastking Tripolymer line spools from 10lb to 17lb and really do not have one bad thing to say about ANY of their products. I would love to try some of their higher end stuff but, for now, I am extremely happy with their more budget friendly items for sure!! Allows me more time on the bank with my grandson!! Great video!!
great deal! However, I don't think they are quite the same "type" of box as these ones. These are far more comparable to the Plano Edge series which are 40$ and up for most of them, especially this size.
Do they make an ultralight setup? I like catching fish to eat, catching big bass is fun and all but I fish to eat. Crappie, bluegill, white bass, are my favorite fish to eat. I’ll eat a largemouth occasionally, the lake I fish at allows you to take home large mouth bass under 13 inches.
They do have some BFS stuff on their website, though I cant vouch for it quite yet being that I have not used it! My ultralight setup is a Daiwa crossfire 5'6" with a Shimano Nexave 1000. LOVE IT
The Kastking products are quickly becoming my favorite! You covered the tackle boxes but I have to tell you about the reels. I stumbled on their stuff when I was looking for a tackle backpack. I was so impressed with the quality and price of it that I started buying other products just to see if it spanned the product line. To me, it does without a doubt. First reel I bought was the Sharky III. I think I got it for under $60 on Amazon (maybe under $50). Got the 3000 size. First thing I noticed out of the box was... the box. Packaging was better than almost anything I have seen. And the reel itself... it's SOLID!!!! Like no crappy plastic pieces! If doesn't flex in your hand. It's smooth. The drag is excellent. It feels like a $150 reel to me. I have been using it for about 9 months now and it's a good as the day I took it out of the box. Had it on salmon and steelhead trips all winter and now I'm using it for walleye and big hybrid stripers in the Ohio River in heavy current. I'm going to try a couple other models they have, but at the price point, I don't think you can beat it.
Actually have that same Kayak and absolutely love it. Super roomy and I happen to think it's very stable. Would agree with the seat strap. It's definitely in a bad place. But that would be my only complaint with this Kayak.
@@joebobsbass Lots of trout, walleye, and pike. For some reason they say Bass can't survive our summers and winters. They said that it doesn't get warm enough in the Alberta summers for them to thrive. Sound's like an excuse to me and those who fish with me. Thanks for responding.
What size? I have a 1500 size. When you’re reeling do you feel like a feeling a clunk feeling? I took the spool off and when the rod underneath fully retracts I feel it. Idk if that’s normal or not.
@@joebobsbass hope not. I mean it works. I think I am thinking too much into it lol. I only feel it when I don’t have line on the reel. Like if I am fishing I don’t feel it.
2 questions...1)How do you keep the belly weight from overlapping the flaps on one side or the other...2) How do you keep it from laying on the side during the retrieve?
Well it comes with a specially designed hook. There is a slot in the belly that is probably a little different from a normal slot as well. It will for sure roll over if you burn it, but slow and steady I haven’t had a problem with it. Also, if it seems like the weight is overlapping the flaps, just give it a little push up into the belly a bit more and should even it out again.
@@joebobsbass thanks. Did both of those. I've had it a couple of years now. Even tried to glue the flaps to the sides of the weight, didn't stick for long after a few bites. I'm gonna keep tweeking it though. When its working right, they flat out smash it!
Cabela’s most of the time just because it’s convenient for me. But for bass specific gear, waypoint angler is amazing. Of course tacklewarehouse for online ordering is great too:)
I prefer the screwlock.I use the owner extra large scewlock with a mustad 91768 30degree jig hook (4/0)for the 3.5 and a large owner screwlock with a 1/0 for the 2.5 yamatanuki. I found out this helps hold it better without tearing out
I wasn't a fan of using the screw lock ewg's either, the screw lock cores out some of the soft plastic at the tip and if you're using mend it to fix the baits to reuse, it doesn't bond as evenly. I went back to using a regular ewg and I put a wacky ring around the tip so the tips don't rip off the hook as easily.
These are fun to throw, personally I use a #4 gammy ewg , another thing having a bottle of mend-it on the boat is a must when using these or a lot of other plastics , btw, they make a 2.5" version although I haven't tried it yet
Its not early ice anymore.....lol......jesus are you fishing in Hennepin County lol..... gross lol....been fishing the hard water for over a month if your north of HWY 2.....have 1ft of ice on the smaller lakes in the Marcel/ Big Fork area.....if you can hear the sound of lots of traffic driving by......your at the wrong lake lol.....overfished polluted city lakes always full of dinks and disappointment.....your not representing MN fishing very well here.....drive 3 hrs north and 30 to 40 ..... 10" to 15" crappies all day long.....is quite common....if your not going after 20" walleyes......
Brother I think you need to relax. In fact, yes I was fishing in the twin cities. This was an afternoon after the work day, just went out for a few hours. Check out my other full length videos on my channel and let me know what you think!
@joebobsbass counted 5 lol's don't get much more relaxed.....if you can't handle a little snack talk from other fisherman.....I suggest not posting videos on SOCIAL MEDIA of catching dinks in the metro area......
