Can I use the mpc1000 as an audio playback machine for live performance? I'd prefer this instead of using a laptop. Basically playback the songs without specific parts that we'd play live. It's 7 songs about 4 min each.
@@faitken193 as other chime in with their experiences, I'd say I prefer the sp-404 mk2 for this kind of audio playback. You'd have to check the manual to see if the mpc1k could even load that length of audio into one project..
You can also record into the three sequences in real time by pushing the rec bottom and twisting the parameter you wanna change, e.g. cutoff. That's the quick way...
I've had this since shortly after it came out and used it on every every album I've done since (Space Station Alpha, if you're interested). I've always gotten wonderfully lost just playing with the buttons--I take notes on each knob as I tweak to leave bread crumbs to get it back if I like it. I've never knew quite how to use the mod sequence, so thank you for that. If you listen to my songs, you'll hear a lot of A12 set on arp (and used without arp as a melody instrument), but I've used lots of others as well, many just cooked up playing with knobs. It's heart warming to see the pride and joy of my band here, handled so well by someone who knows what they're doing.
@@wm_shaddeJust following up to say these are amazing! It really helped my set up and I have been singing their praises to everyone with a performance case! Thank you for getting these back in stock!
If you recorded a 4 bar loop using a trigger into the record input, how well does it stay in time with the incoming audio? I'm curious if I could use this in live performance to capture a loop of a traditional 4 on the floor track, switch it over to full wet, change my patch (but keep tempo the same), and then switch it back to dry and have it all mix nicely without any weird flamming.
Hey will - how many inches does this lift the case off the ground? I'm interested in putting my 104 palette right in front of a lifted 7u case. Wondering if the dimensions work out?
The front edge of the case is almost exactly 2" high, not enough to put a skiff in front of it directly.. BUT I do have some future plans to make a higher set to accommodate a skiff or palette case in that configuration. No eta on it at the moment though.
That is a great question. I think you can get the functionality close enough to compare, especially if you have a crow as a helper. I will say that the immediacy of the LOOP is amazing with so many knobs and an obvious plus over the W/. But the W/ does so much more in other modes that I wouldn't sell the W/ to fund the LOOP unless that is all you use it for.
@@wm_shadde Have you run into any of the issues with W/ around writing to the SD card too much and burning it out? Only thing stopping me from picking one up when they get produced again
Thanks for the in depth explanation! One of the things I'm grappling with is when assigning one of the sequencer lanes to Amp level, I find that even when I have the knob for a specific step turned all the way down, there is still sound coming through (even though it is lower in volume) so I can't totally silence specific steps. Any thoughts?
Hi there! i fallow your channel, thank you so much for doing this. i just bought recently an mpc and fix it, and I tried to load some modular samples that are converted ,from 24bit to 16bit as is required, and I get some error when I try to play or load. i also try to load them unconverted but still the same problem.
Thanks for the follow! I recommend trying a free program called MPC Maid. Basically it is a utility to setup and assign samples, BUT also it will play samples if they are in the correct format (so use it to test your samples first!) Also you can use Audacity to export your samples because I've read they do need to be 16bit AND 44.1khz and wav format. Good luck!
Thank you. Would have been nice if you could record the sounds it creates from "line in" rather than from the air with the microphone, but I understand it would make the video much more difficult and lengthy to make.
Korg did some clever midi implementation in the late 90's and early 00's. You can use the MS2000 as a controller for other similar korg synths, especially the knob free Trinity with the prophecy board. As a midi controller, the knobs for the filter, envelopes and oscillators effect the respective parts of the receiving synth. Makes the Triton and trinity rack mounts into full blown knob synths!
