As a plein air painter and woodworker, I've been building and enjoying my own pochade boxes for years, while always thinking about how to make them. From my experience, I've designed a line of pochade boxes that incorporate all the features that I've always wanted. I'm happy to make these paintboxes by hand, following a business model that lets me interact with my customers personally and be responsible for the last details of construction and design.
Lovely pochads box and a design thats copied by others too. I think though, that lower magnetic panel holder would drive me mad. I like a panel that's held level - especially when the opposit one at the top is. It just seems a bit messy. I'd be tempted to drill a series of parallel holes that would accept two pegs shaped like chess pawns. They could be stored in the drawer.
Perfect design. Like it a lot. I have a lot art boxes but this is perfect to me. I design mine too but i wanna this. How much and how can i buy it? Any link,site anything?

You could put an additional palette on top I suppose, it has an auxiliary palette though that stores there and attaches to the other side of the box when in use.
my admiration for these boxes and there construction i do not have the words , when you paint with a quality item it makes the process more enjoyable , thank you ben and julie .
I noticed when you closed the pochade your finger once taken off,showed the lid buckled and a gap could be seen! Probably because it is a weak baltic pine top?. I like your design but I'm a little concerned about the lid not lasting. Let me know if you change that issue. regards

My sister gave me this box for my retirement gift, early retirement because of health. Now that I'm healed from heart surgery I pulled out my painting things and went to RU-vid to see set up ideas. What a great painting box and it is a wonderful gift.I put self adhesive wool pads if I want to use it for my table top easel and attached it to my camera's tripod. I attached a shoulder strap to the handle d- rings and run that thru a roll of paper towel for working it! The engineering and workmanship is amazing with many thoughtful options.

These are the best pochades without a doubt. They are extremely well made, look great and function extremely well. No others come close. I bought the Blackfoot and the Bitterroot about 8 years ago and they are still going strong. I had some glass cut for inside the box so clean up is a breeze. I see some improvements were made such as the grooves for the brushes in the drawers and the handle. Saving up for the Yellowstone and the Piggbackback adapter.
My Alla Prima Yellowstone pochade is GORGEOUS! But I am babying it...I don’t trust my tripod with it lol. Thank you so much Ben. “Aimee’s Happy Place” is perfect.

Hi Miguel, Thank you! Been building them for over 13 years now in my one man wood shop. I've spent a lot of time designing and redesigning to make the BEST pochade box I can create. This Sirui tripod is the Sirui AM-005K Ultra Lightweight Aluminum Travel Tripod with Ball head. It works fine but not my favorite. The center column is fixed and doesn't slide all the way down. Also the legs fold around it. These are small things but just enough to make it not my go to tripod. If you email me I can send you some links to tripods I recommend for my boxes. Take care, Ben

Hello Ben, I bought the 8x10 allla prima pochade lite box from you on this model, it was lighter, more beautiful and easier to transport. Now you've done 10x12. It was really good. Congratulations you are a great craftsman and with that you make the ideal and ideal tools for painters who practice plein air painting. the magnets that you put in your pochades are incredible, I really liked it. Ben, I wonder if you have a cheaper way of shipping to Brazil because I paid a very high tax here in Brazil to buy that 8x10 cake? because I had to pay the same price as the pochade I bought from you. A big hug and the question is is there a cheaper way to send to Brazil even if it takes longer to arrive? A hug.
