Hi Allen, I don't cut glass, but the palette area is deep enough to accommodate glass and still have room to close up with wet paint. The Yellowstone Lite has a removable palette and that can be replaced with glass, a window place or framer can cut a piece pretty inexpensively. No specific tripod recommendation, but if you email me at ben@allaprimapochade.com I can send you some links to different possibilities. They change frequently so would be looking at stuff with appropriate specs for the particular box.
