I bought this game as more of a collectors item but then was pleasantly surprised but hope much I liked it. Me and a couple of friends were bumbling our way through it recently and I thought I could share some intel with you: On one of the later turns when you used Cloud to flip a card, you could have also used the Materia Effect to do the same thing again. Also, you may only use Materia Effects when you have placed 'Single Materia' cards, not when you place 'Double Materia' or 'Triple Material'. We learned from you too. We missed that you could only trigger the Bonus Action of the character played 'this turn' and that you could only trigger one Materia Effect per turn so we had some crazy chains happening. Lastly we didn't spot the flip cost on the purple Materia Effect. Thanks for the video.

I have a question, the card SNAXSCOPE can make player look at top 3 cards of any deck. This play can only look at any 1 deck or all decks?

Hello! There's a lot to watch for and be aware of while playing this game. It's complex, that's why I love it. You've made several mistakes of which a few were crucial. Let's be honest, you probably wouldn't have won this if you caught everything, but the most important thing is that you enjoyed your time and laughed a lot. This last part is what I find as the main reason of feeling myself good while watching the video. 25:14 We play it like as soon as you put the 2nd attack on the same villain you lose 2 health, get stunned and lose the 3rd attack. I guess that's a different understanding. Maybe my translation of the game states it differently. 30:47 Sarah couldn't have got attack on Josh's turn even from the proficiency. I know that's cruel, but she gained 3 attacks illegally. That means the Death Eater would not be defeated in the next turn. Irreversible chain reaction which even continued along. I prayed that you'd realize the Horxrux when Josh rolled for it, but you didn't. Oh well, that's what it is. I was so glad that you caught it several turns later. Unfortunately, you've already given dozens of tokens to each other until then. 31:25 Josh's correct, you can't choose an option that you cannot do. 33:37 I don't see why Josh lost 1 health for the new villain reveal while stunned, when previously he correctly didn't. :) 43:51 I would have transfigured the Bezoar, as it doesn't (and shouldn't) have any effect. Cannot heal, nor draw cards. 50:25 If I were Josh, I would not have discarded the Chocolate frog for being stunned, but for Transfiguration to search for a 3rd attack on the Basilisk and save the location. 54:58 Unfortunately, Josh forgot to discard his influence at the end of his last turn, therefore should only have 6 to acquire a new card with. 1:00:40 Missed to add a control for being stunned. 1:14:44 The cloak does not protect Harry from Horcruxes. Only from dark arts and villains. 1:18:38 Again missed to add a control for being stunned. 1:21:22 Josh did discard a card for the dark arts, so he should be stunned instead of being on 2 health. 1 more damage from Crabbe and Goyle and the Horcrux. Which means another control on the location, losing all tokens and half of the cards. 1:25:06 You do "discard" cards for being stunned. You gain the reward for every possible discards in the game. The rulebook states this. Even the stun condition writes that you "discard" half of your cards. 1:25:36 That's for each card, because each time causes you to discard "a" card. "A" means one. 1:29:35 I laughed so hard! :D 1:36:00 Sarah should not have been stunned, because you only lose 1 health for Voldemort, if you remove a control from the location. 1:43:17 Sarah should also have discarded all of her tokens. -3 attacks. 1:44:10 In this situation you actually can utilize COnfundus, because once you defeat Dolores, you can assign damage to Voldemort. 1:45:48 Josh should've been stunned at this point, because in the previous turn he gained health when Sectumsempra was drawn. Which again means another control on the locaion and discarding half of the cards. 1:54:00 Voldemort also adds a control to the location. 1:59:38 Voldemort would be defeated, because you forgot to give yourselves an attack for removing a control. I really enjoyed this whole series. I really hope that you will continue with the 2 expansions. Things get even more complex with those, but it's a great game. Let me give a few advices: -The most important thing would be to seperate played cards from the discard pile. Those only go there in Step 4, while you take hero actions in Step 3. These things are all listed in the rule book. Timings are very important in this game. Several villains activate outside of Step 2 and this might cause you to not get stunned by an Avada Kedavra for example, because the villain might stun you before you even draw that dark arts card. -Those cards that give reward when defeating villains, don't have to be played before you defeat the villain. And I suggest taking those rewards as soon as you put enough damage, because you've forgotten these multiple times. -Don't afraid of being stunned, especially if the location is already full or if you can remove the control you will add for getting stunned. Also, if you are on 1 health and buy a 4 or more cost card with Dolores, you just add a control and sstart your next turn with 10 health and 5 cards. Just pay attention to assigning your damage and playing all of your cards before acquiring a new card in this case. -With those villains' rewards that let you search your discard pile for a certain type of card and you don't have a discard pile, you may as well purchase something first, which you can then put into your hand. -If you have to discard a card, you should first check what you can buy before deciding. There are times when it's much more useful discarding an attack in favor of buying something valuable. -Don't always hurry defeating a villain or defeat more villains at the same time. If you have easy ones (for example some of these: Crabbe and Goyle, Quirell, Umbridge, Death Eater), I suggest that you keep them for as long as possible, giving yourselves opportunity and time to become stronger by purchasing powerful cards. If you defeat multiple villains at the same time, you might get 2 new ones that boost each other and hurt you badly. -There's nothing more important than keeping the 1st location. I hope I've mentioned everything I wanted. I wish you good health and a lot of joy in your life!

Hello! 12:29 I was really surprised even before this when Sarah bought Lupin over Fawkes with 5 coins, but here buying a Chocolate frog costing 2 with 4-5 coins, that's a huge waste. In general, when you have that many coins, don't buy something worth 2. That's perfect to buy if someone cannot generate more influence. Taking a damage from Dolores is not the end of the world. These 3 villains are easy, you can become stronger while they are out. Ofc, you have to defeat Barty to be able to remove, but he doesn't hurt you. Don't be afraid of getting stunned! :) (A little addendum after watching along, there were a couple turns where you threw away 4 coins each, because the cheapest card cost 5. How perfect would having a Chocolate frog in the market would be!) 14:56 In this situation if I were Sarah I would have given the 3 health from Lupin to Josh, the Chocolate frog to myself and bought Descendo. :) We at home usually give the higher health to the upcoming player, because most likely they will lose the most health in their own turn. 15:54 If I were Josh if would have taken the 2 damage from the dark arts, searched Nymphadora with Transfiguration, chose the 3 influence with her, added it to the influence Sarah gave me, played 4 Alohomoras, then bought Albus Dumbledore. :) 18:38 I disagree with Sarah. After playing dozens of (or maybe even a hundred) games I learned that you don't have to rush defeating people. You can keep the easy villains indefinitely to ensure you become stronger with buying more valuable cards. And with such high market prices, you definitely have to choose the 3 coins with Nymphadora. 21:01 Seeing that I won't be able to buy anything anyway, I would have thrown the cloak away to search something worth 5 of less. :) 27:57 I almost never discard a card while Crabbe and Goyle are out. 35:38 In situations like this, before using Transfiguration I my "draw a card" type of cards, to maybe draw the one I would otherwise search for. :) 48:25 Seeing that I would be able to buy Kingsley if I discarded Hedwig, I would have done that. 1:00:55 That's quite a big error here. I've already mentioned previously, that played cards don't go into the discard pile immediatelly, so it's not about this. But defeating a villain is still in Step 3 of your turn. It's not like that if you played all of your cards, you are finished. The rulebook states that you do hero actions (playing cards, assigning damage, acquiring new cards, using abilities, etc) in any order. You don't save cards for your next turn. You always draw 5 cards, than may gain additional ones on other players' turns. If Sarah took Dumbledore for Tom Riddle's reward like previously, she would have had to play him or discard him at the end of her turn.

Hello! You got very unlucky with the shop. I don't think a Harry-player should choose the Flying lessons proficiency. From the starting deck only Hermione can produce 5 coins constantly. In my oppinion, Bellatrix is one of the worst villains to start with. WIth 1 or 2 attacking cards in the starting decks, she remains a very long time and drawing at least 2 dark arts cards each turn has double the chance of losing the location. She's not that bad later when you've bough a few better cards. 16:48 Now this is an interesting situation with Defense against the dark arts proficiency. I think it can be understood multiple ways. Flipendo stunned Sarah which also made her discard. The way we do it at home is Crabbe and Goyle and the proficiency activate, then we carry out the stun sequence, which means, the attack gained from the proficiency is also lost for being stunned, because you received it before discarding half of your cards for the stun. 20:08 You could just take back Protego and discard that for Lockhart. You gain the same benefit if you discard it, that's why it's so valuable. :) You would then have 5 coins to buy the removing card. 33:19 If you defeated Fenrir before playing Butterbeer, you could gain that 1 more health. 42:11 Unfortunately, the Petrification dark arts event still prevents you from the Basilisk's draw a card reward. 48:41 Similarly to Game 5's last location, at this point the active hero does not have any cards in their hand to discard from. 49:08 Sarah's proficiency does not work when the location makes you discard a card. Only when dark arts or villains do.

Hello! It's such a joy watching you laugh! 22:58 Villain-combination time! If you discard a card for Tom Riddle, you also lose 1 health for Crabbe and Goyle. 23:38 Josh should have been stunned for either Tom Riddle or Crabbe and Goyle. With only 1 health he had an ally in hand. This would then start a chain reaction: discarding half cards, adding control to the location, Tom Riddle not being defeated, etc. Well, that's what it is. :) 32:40 This would have been a perfect opportunity for Sarah to make a tactical stun. With 1 health she buys a 4-cost card, becomes stunned with no cards in hand, therefore no discard and starts the next turn with 10 health and 5 cards. The location is not in danger and she will most likely be stunned in her next turn, or even in Josh's turn. 46:05 In this situation I would not have given the other player on 1 health influence, because they would most likely get stunned and lose them. 49:49 I don't see why the discarded Essence of Dittany wasn't shuffled. 53:36 We at home usually don't defeat multiple villains at the same time, because of this. 1:10:51 With Polyjuice potion you also copy the "If you defeat a villain..." part. :)

Hello! 1:02:46 Exactly what Sarah said. It's 1 life instead of 4. Even if you had 5 allies, you would still lose only 1, because it's the same villain. Well done! And it's even true through multiple turns. For example: You have the cloak in your hand when Sarah draws Morsmordre when the Death Eater is out. You both lose 1 health for the dark arts card and 1 for the villain. If you in yoiur turn then also draw a Morsmordre, you only lose the health for the dark arts even, because it's a different event (althought technically the same, but a different card), but no health loss for the Death Eater. It seems to me, that unless it's forbidden, you always draw a card with Reparo without even calculating what you could purchase if you chose the 2 influence instead. :)

Hello! I really enjoyed this whole video, especially that you laugh so much! :) I would again like to share a number of thoughts, some of which might help you in the future. Of these starting villains, I would have gone for the Basilisk, because that's the only way to remove control from the location. None of the 2 is the worst at the beginning. For Tom Riddle you can always discard cards. 21:34 I know, I've already talked about a similar situation under the previous video, but just for those who only watch this and want to learn: since you played Hedwig this turn, she's not in your discard pile in case of Tom Riddle's reward. 23:27 There is nothing in the rules saying that you cannot play a card. You can play Lumos, it just doesn't have any effect while the Basilisk is out. In this situation you did play 4 spells in case of Hermione's ability. 27:17 In a situation like this I would not have healed the partner, because she will be stunned on her turn anyway (very unlikely that she doesn't lose any health for 2 dark arts cards), therefore it's just a waste of the card. 39:38 Sarah (again sorry if her name is spelled differently) did not have to discard Viktor Krum, because according to the "Step 4 - End of turn" checking the location happens sooner, than the active hero drawing 5 new cards. In this situation she had zero cards in her hand, therefore she had nothing to discard from. 57:05 Similar situation to what I wrote at 21:34. The Hogwarts: A history is an invalid target for Accio, because it should be in your play area. 58:28 If you defeated Barty Crouch Jr. before playing Expecto patronum, you could have removed a 3rd control from the location. And unfortunately you forgot the 2 coins that the broom gives you when defeating a villain. It would make it 4 total. Putting the just played cards in front of you (apart from they just should be there) could help with these additional benefits. 1:07:27 I was very surprised that you prioritized Quirell over Lucius, especially 1 control away from losing. In this situation it didn't matter at the end, because Sarah couldn't produce 3 attacks, but in most cases it would.
@zsoltmautner3250
@zsoltmautner3250 19 дней назад
32:18 Unfortunately you didn't remember the Sorting hat to put the acquired ally on top of your deck. It would have been huge! 35:02 In situations like this, if I play Harry I usually give the attack I receive for removing a control to the upcoming player, because there are only worse villains than Crabbe and Goyle, so we can get rid of that one sooner. 36:50 Here with multiple villains is where the combinations come into play, of how they work together. Here not only you discard the revealed card and add a control to the location, but also lose a health for Crabbe and Goyle, because a villain made you discard a card. It is combinations like these I love this game so much for. :) 37:20 Sarah (if her name is spelled like this) took the extra coin for playing 4 spells, making her total number 5, but only used 4 of them. She could give it to Josh, but seeing how she healed herself over him, I was not surprised. :D 40:18 The bottom part does happen, because it fulfills the "if you defeat a villain this turn" part. You defeated Crabbe and Goyle this turn. You don't have to defeat the villain with those attacks you gain for the broom. It is not what's written on the card. 45:32 Now this is when it does matter where you put your played cards (I believe I briefly touched this topic under the previous video). Into the play area in front of you, not the discard pile. You cannot take back a just played card into your hand, because they should not be in your discard pile yet. In this concrete case Descendo is not a valid target for Peter Pettigrew's reward.

Hello! Again, I'm sorry if the mentioned things were realised in a future video, I just haven't got to it yet. 10:28 Sarah (I'm sorry if her name is not spelled like that) could have gained 2 more influence from the broom (because she defeated a villain this turn) with which she could afford to acquire a new card. I don't know if it's only just for camera-sake, but the played cards don't go directly into the discard pile, only at the end of the turn. I know my first point were somewhat recognised at a later stage, I just wanted the two points to stay next to each other, because maybe if you put your cards in front of you, you would catch the extra benefits on the played cards. :) 24:12 When we play at home, in situations like this we used to heal the upcoming hero, because most likely they will lose the most health during their own turn, especially if they have a nice hand of cards. 30:34 "I'm gonna risk it for a biscuit." Hilarious! :D

I only watched part of the run yesterday and stopped when I commented, just wanted to also comment about Echo Forming multi-cast. I believe you would multi-cast darkness for the first three energy, then the echo form WOULD have to be on a different orb. So it only works the way you played it if you have two dark orbs in play. That's how it would work in the video game anyway. But when you echo form a X cost card, the second time does play for the same amount of energy as the first one.

23:46 this is poorly worded if it means add two cards because it specifically says to add two “card rewards” which means you draw 6 cards and choose 2 of those 6 but you also can’t skip. That’s what the phrase “card rewards” means. So this was not correct and I figured I’d say something so that if you ever encounter it again you can play it properly and enjoy your card reward a little more from this event.

In the Slavers Correction post, you said "Josh should have taken 6 damage for being vulnerable". He actually should have taken 4 damage which he would have blocked. As per the rules, when a weakened enemy hits a vulnerable enemy, those effects are cancelled out and the tokens discarded (although the weak still applies to her because it was the same attack). I know this was 2 weeks ago but just wanted to clarify!

28:32 it’s very interesting to see it played this way. I read the rule book and saw this as an optional way to play but to me doesn’t it completely remove the whole “co-op” aspect of the game when you could all draw your cards and then decide what to do based on what everyone draws? I mean I can clearly see that some people enjoy it but at that point why don’t y’all just play by yourselves? Genuine question not hating.

That's what I was thinking as well. Retaining it can still affect gameplay in that some cards require certain things of your hand to play so the retain is still annoying but it doesn't mean you're stuck with 4 draw each hand.

It seems very reliant on the cards you draw, is there much way of planning ahead?

0:30 "Sarah (Sara?) what are we doing today?" Darn... her little squeal stole my line. ;) I finally got my game a few weeks back. Kept playing 4-character solo to try to get a feel of them all and to unlock everything. Still have one square left on the third lock. >_< That is likely because I think I reached the Act 2 boss once so far and didn't even face the Act 1 boss in at least one of my runs. I very much enjoy seeing the two of you play with not only more experience but also those remaining items unlocked. :)

52:00 I wasn't 100% sure of the question. I originally thought you were asking about Orbs, but then Energy was brought up. Re Energy: page 19 of the Rules says that "If the card has X in the Energy cost, the copies use the same value of X as the original." Re Orbs: even if you only have one Orb, it wouldn't make any sense to me if the Dual-/Multi-Cast cards would stop after the first use. To me a single Orb is "recycled" as many times as the Skill allows it to be used, then its destroyed when the card's effect ends, so If you extend the X Energy carries over to copies, I'd think Orbs survive until all copies are played as well. Good question either way.

A copy use the same energy. But you play it as a new played card. So after a first dualcast for example,the orb you multi cast is gone. Then you copy dualcast, but you can't dualcast the orb you just did, because it is gone.

@@arjanschipper3068 That would make sense. I've never had that situation happen, though I did have a run where I got Multi-Cast in my deck very early as a random Rare from Neow...and all but one time I drew it I just went "You're just a more expensive Duel-Cast, why would I use you!?" and ignored it because I had better cards which could use the energy. I might have used it if I had a way to duplicate it, but those cards never came.

@@ChimeratAlpha if you have 1 energy left, than dual cast is better than the multicast. But multicast works good with extra energy. If you discard tactician, you gain 2 or 3 extra energy. Than you could have 6 energy for example. After that a multicast+ and evoke your dark orb 7 times. That could be a big hit against a boss 😀

@@arjanschipper3068 Yeah... Is Tactician a Lv3 unlock? I haven't spotted it yet, but I know some of the cards unlocked in the first two tiers are cards I generally use in the video game and the lack of them in the deck really explains why my strategies didn't work. (It's why I'm trying to unlock everything to see how that process goes before I decide if I'll start with all cards when teaching others, or not.) I think the only use for Multicast was 3-4 energy on a Dark Orb, yeah. I didn't have anything in my deck to increase energy, but I think I might have had a Relic by then that boosted energy.

Hard to remember every little card in the heat of the moment, for sure. There was even a time in the last fight that you forgot to give 10 poison damage, but still an amazing run! Love the editing allowing us to easily read the cards; I know that takes a lot of effort! Hope to see more playthroughs.

This looks so good. Though as you mentioned you missed a few times moving the time piece up the pages. To the point I think when the cheese surge happens in the garden/courtyard area, I think you lost the game.

I love how you display the damage that should have happened to deca from the lightning orbs on the left of the screen. Yet as your playing She forgets she hits the row of bosses with her lightning orbs. So far when I commented here it's happend twice she's forgotten

For future reference Poison hits the enemies at the end of your turn. So if it is enough to kill them, they will die *before* they get to act.
