Nice one! I know this tune from the great Nic Jones! The melody is very close to "The thirty foot trailer", a tune Ive heard from Eamon O Leary from the Murphy beds
What tuning do you use please? I used to capo on the 7th fret sometimes on my Stefan Sobell Cittern. I can't remember the exact tuning but I know it was tuned in 5ths from bottom string up to top string. I really like the sound of your 10 string. It's very... how should I say... Harpsichordish come hammered Dulcimer.
@@dannyboon9444 thank you! I use DGDAD pretty much exclusively these days. Tuning these in 5ths is a little bit more of a stretch but a lot of people do it still but you also can't get the same sound that you're taking about. It's the droning high "DAD" strings that really make it sound like an "Irish" bouzuouki.
nice . i love that song. me and a pal went slucing and panning one summer in the seventies in british columbia when were were out of work. we shifted alot of mud. made a little bit of money. now all those creeks are staked with the price of gold the way it is.
What an excellent comparison video. Thank you! And, your skill level is above the average demo given that I have seen, so much appreciated! I think you've helped me determine that the OM is a much better choice than the bouzouki.
Haha! Agreed. It's easily the most beautiful instrument I've ever put my hands on, although currently it's in second to top slot for favorite instruments to play, just after the big cocobolo Sobell
So so so beautiful looks and warm sound .I love traditional irish instruments and European traditional instruments .but from where do I get this types of traditional instruments?? Love from India..so beautiful peace of music
Thank you so much for your kind words! 🙏 I bought these second hand from various places online, sites like mandolin cafe. I actually have this older one for sale also. There are plenty of makers throughout the world as well. One of my favorite builders is a Canadian name Lawrence Nyberg. He had a great RU-vid channel and website also. Definitely check him out. Thanks again! By the way, India is in my top 3 places is love to visit. I'd love to come see your beautiful country some day
🥰❤️ You must welcome I really appreciate thankyou for your response. sure I will do ,check him out Thanks for you support I really love this Instruments, I love European traditional instruments because it's so warm novel, epic and medival sound right that's why😊 👍 Thankyou
This one was made by Nigel Forster who now lives in Australia. You can check out his website. There are also quite a few other makers out there as well
Good reviews, I'm a devilbiss man and I've tried them all, iwata uses more paint, pro lite is the nicest gun in the hand and in the right hand it's unbeatable, the x5500 is nothing special and feels like a brick in the hand and then you've got the price tags, No brainer
It really is, I couldn't play it as fluidly or gracefully as Sky plays it, so don't feel bad 🤣 Of all the different versions I've heard, the way Sky plays it is definitely my favorite, without a doubt
I did at one time. Not sure if I still do. I worked this out by ear but I did put it into tabledit software once for some friends who had asked for it years ago. I probably still have it somewhere, I'll give a look
I canot afford a sobell , however I have two amazing Irish bouzouki, one a natural wood and a large pear shaped mando/ bouzouki sounding very similar, plus I can go on holiday with all the change 😂😂😂😂
