I am just wondering how about to those occupations that needs a positive skills assessment as what I know other's should have a 3 or more years experience to be able to proceed with skills assessment and then apply for a 482 visa after November. So I thinks the change would benefit the students who will be finishing their studies in Australia and also for the occupations that doesn't require a skills assessment. Am i right?
@techvisa_
@techvisa_ 3 месяца назад
Thats correct! This will greatly benefit international students who complete their studies in Australia as well as occupations that do not require a skills assessment. If you have an occupation/country of passport that requires a skills assessment for a 482 then nothing changes in that regard.

Hi Iam Under 482 visa for 3 years after 3 years if the employer not ready to support for 186 . What gonna do?
@techvisa_
@techvisa_ 5 месяцев назад
Hi Priya, it is the employers discretion as to whether or not they decide to support your permanent residency applications. If they are not willing to proceed with the 186 visa, you could possibly explore independent options i.e. 189/190. Alternatively they could sponsor you for an additional 482 if they would like to retain you as an employee but are uncertain about PR right now. I hope that helps

@techvisa_
@techvisa_ 5 месяцев назад
Hi Jack, granted you meet the relevant requirements etc. The 186 is a great option as it can offer a direct pathway to PR. Also the Employer Sponsored subclasses provide more certainty opposed to going down the independent/state sponsored routes. Feel free to get in touch with our team directly if you do have any specific questions.

Hello, I have got an opportunity to work for an employer for 2 years under 482 visa. They said, they will support for 186 visa after 2 years. So i am confused that, if my visa expired after 2 years, how can they nominate me for 186 visa? Will I be able to stay in Australia?
@techvisa_
@techvisa_ 5 месяцев назад
Hi, great question. The department allow you to apply for the 186 TRT visa 3 days before the 482 expires. This essentially gives you a 'grace period' to avoid having to apply for an additional 482 visa in order to meet the 2 year mark. There are a number of boxes you need to tick to ensure you meet the relevant eligibility criteria with these time frames. Feel free to get in touch with us directly if you hav any further questions that relate specifically to your application.

Thanks for the video! This 3 year work experience requirement is unclear. As 186 is not a point tested stream, do you mean its ones overall work experience or the number of years that has been equated by ACS? For example someone who has a total work experience of 5 years as ICT BA but ACS has assessed it relevant for 2 years only due to non-ICT qualification, what will be considered by DHA for 186 processing.
@techvisa_
@techvisa_ 7 месяцев назад
Hi Deepan, THanks for getting in touch and great question! The three years is in relation to all post-qualification experience. If the skill assessment is completed by ACS then the requirement is that you have at least 3 years of employment AFTER completion of your degree as experience at the appropriate skilled level and relevant to the nominated occupation. For 186DE you can ignore the part where it says 'The following employment after X date is considered to equate to work at an appropriately skilled level and relevant to ANZSCO Code XXXXXX' as this is only relevant for 189/190 visas. I hope that helps and please don't hesitate to get in touch with our team directly if you have any further questions

Hi Sambath, thanks for getting in touch and great question. From the information we have right now, the department are allowing applications for the 186 TRT visa prior to reaching the two years BUT only 'a few days' prior i.e. 3-4 days short of the 2-year mark. Therefore, your company would need to sponsor you for an additional 1-year 482 visa to cross the 2-year mark and then you can apply for PR. I hope this makes sense and please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any other questions.

@techvisa_ 7 месяцев назад
Hi Chris, thanks for getting in touch and great question! As per immigration policy, the department is allowing short-term 482 visa holders to lodge their application for PR (186 TRT) a few days prior to hitting the two year requirement. Please note, the time spent on the COVID visa does NOT count towards PR. We actually just published a video answering this exact question, go check it out on our channel if you want some more info and please feel free to get in touch if you require further clarification.

That first 8 months, will that be considered part of the 2 year period before I can apply for PR or not? @@techvisa_ thank you for your response. You do a great job and your videos are really informative. One more question if possible. Should I earn at least 70k per year being on 482 or this salary level should be shown in the application for 186TRT? @@Mirinemiya - We're glad you're finding the information in the videos helpful! The old Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold is applicable to your 482 visa. The new threshold of $70,000 only applies to NEW 482 visa applications and when applying for PR through the 186 TRT stream you will need to be paid above $70k in that nomination.
