i think one more thing to rmb (dk if anyone has mentioned it yet) is that before this cb there was this mini arg where a twt user @/ymenehcra99 (same youtube acct name) started commenting cryptid messages on their MVs, live performances and qrting a lot of their posts talking about "believing in the power of the crown" etc. not long after there was another character called shasha that was introduced. and both were talking about how they were receiving weird letters and that people were knocking on their doors there was even a poll at one point where it was asked if they should open the door. the last post from ymenehcra was on the same day as the OOTD MV upload. to get into detail, the last post from ymenehcra is "Those of you who are watching this, are you also looking for that? Close your eyes and imagine. With that shiny/glittering thing in E's hands, a new T world unfolds... Come to me C. We will be here waiting for the 100th lucky person." and in the MV reaction that DC had posted today (29/28 depending on your region) the girls confirmed that the person at the end was not ymenehcra but shasha so the question now is where is ymenehcra? who is ymenehcra and are they someone good or bad or are they also a victim to this sacrifice thing like shasha?
The fact that this song/mv are SATIRE/Social critique, calling out all the fake , insta-people, influencers,etc. ❤ While at the same time making it a flex ❤ Whole album is a big SLAP in the face. Its soooo different and yet that makes it even more Dreamcatcher ❤ Handong and Gahyeon are HELLA AGRESSIVE in this 😍 SuA on that bike... nah im good OMFG😍 JiU letting us know she is a GODDESS is FACTS❤ Siyeon... bruh... You could think this is about them being proud and happy with themselves, about confidence. I don't think that is it though. I have no idea if my theory is correct, but the fact that the album is called VersuS VillainS makes me think it is not this simple. So I believe this song is meant as a criticism of narcissism, vanity, materialism and also (maybe) the fast fashion industry. "OOTD" stands for "Outfit of the Day" after all, maybe useless instagram influencers posting videos of their outfit of the day, which also promotes fast fashion. The fact that fashion is moving ever faster is the most destructive industry to the planet apart from the fossil fuel industry. The Aral lake has all but disappeared because of the cotton industry for example. It would fit to the Villain image, and you can see in the MV that they are acting. It is shown in the scene where Yoohyeon and Handong are fighting, but then the camera is off and Handong helps Yoohyeon up. The main reason why I don't think it is about confidence or their own success is the line "Driving on the highway, drunken everyday, do you feel like a monster?" and the album title. That just doesn't fit. And there was the ymenehcra account posting about touching a crown is dangerous and other cryptic messages before the comeback. It could also be a big and well-hidden F*U to the Kpop industry, like the Nightmare arc probably was. The narcissism and materialism is definitely criticized here, and Dreamcatcher have been criticized a lot themselves because of their rock/metal concept, while other groups have been celebrated for using a guitar riff once in a song. And Handong standing in front of the camera with bruises all over her legs seems to be a comment on the merciless industry as well. The music is highly interesting as well. There still is rock there, but dialed back. The song structure is not what you'd expect at all, for me it is punk rock meets K-Pop. Not their usual spiel, but a very good progression. It takes a couple of listens to really appreciate it.

This song hit me in the face, was not expecting this type of sound but after many listens, it's a groove rather than a head banging song. +1 to Kevin's comment below, this song has layers and it gets darker the deeper you go. The subtle editing of what you see, angles to hide what they don't want you to see etc. With the Nightmare series that you have already checked out, the other series after that start mixing in other genres for their own unique blend whilst still retaining their rock core. For OOTD, there hints and snippets at a grungy, punk rock guitar in the chorus. I was surprised by the b-sides though, 'Rising' goes a lot heavier and harder than the title track. Would suggest checking out the b-sides, even if its not for reaction videos, just for your own enjoyment. It's good study music or gym music :D
Dreamcatcher doesn't necessarily have a continuous lore throughout everything. There's separate series that link but the series don't link to each other. OOTD is starting a 2 part series where they are Villains using a narcissistic song to lure you in as a satire about the false image that is portrayed in music and other influencers. The design, editing and production shown throughout the video is a counterpoint to the song itself revealing some of the underlying truth. If you watch the MV again paying extra attention to everything that's shown you'll discovering things that don't quiite fit, an underlying darkness of tone, even exhibited in the music, images and story about chasing the crown. There was also a whole Alternate Reality Game on Twitter and other social media leading up to the release (and ongoing). The other series are: The Nightmare Series The Dystopia Series The Apocalypse Series. Each can be watched separately without any concern over cross-connections, unless you are just wanting to see the chronological progresion.
WELCOME BACK!! Yes thats Changbin :) This song has alot of word play with the Chinese character and Korean charcter between Rock and pleasure. These are emotions clashing together Joy,Anger,Sorrow but at the end through all the struggling and fears (hence the big monters representing fear) Pleasure wins at the end which brings us to the Chinese character meaning pleasure. I recommend you watch their documentary and the intro of mini album :D
Welcome back. Glad you had some fun catching up on things. Sadly I don't know much about IVE. They aren't one of the girl groups I really follow. But I can give you info on the Stray Kids video. I'll give you a long break down of the video. I think the giant figures represent Fear & stage fright. (They also seem to be based on Japanese spirits of drowned sailors called Umibozu) They dissipate when the words of the emotions in the children's heads disappear. I believe the floating characters are the words Joy, Anger, Sorrow, and Happiness/pleasure. (This is what I have been told. It seems to be a mix of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, and I can read none of those.) There are four factions for four groups of the members. Since the four factions represented emotions, the locations were different. Anger was at the bottom of the ocean. It's a dense emotion that we try to smother & it thrives under pressure.The members who represent this emotion are pirates. Joy was a bank. It's an emotion that we store & take out for special things. The members that represent this emotion are in denim, but surrounded by clowns who look like the ones from the Dark Knight. Sorrow was a stark place of floating ash and monuments that were like graves. The members who represent this emotion are in pale & washed out colors mixed with white. Happiness/Pleasure was in a fort of musical instruments. It's an emotion that's loud & messy. We hear it before we see it. The members who represent this emotion look a lot like people from Mad Max mixed with military. Now. Anger attacked Joy first. They bypassed Sorrow altogether. (You can see this in the map they showed.) But it didn't turn out. Anger was defeated & captured. That was the first word to dissipate. The next to fall was Joy. Happiness/Pleasure snuck in disguised as clowns & planted a bomb. (We saw I.N talking on a communicator & one of the clowns also had one. He later takes off the mask as he leaves revealing it's Han) The bomb went off. Since the bus was in both Joy & Sorrows' realms (Back half in Joy, front in Sorrow. We can't have one of those emotions without having felt the other.) we see the explosion as the camera pans to Sorrow, and the word for Joy dissipates as well. Sorrow falls & we see that Happiness/Pleasure is all that remains. They have gathered parts of the other emotions & folded them into their own. Happiness/Pleasure is very nuanced. It can contain elements of the other emotions and still be the same. Also. I think Lee Know said (In the video with them reacting to the music video) that the children are them when they were young. And over the years these emotions that they felt at varying times have been "defeated" and all that's left is pleasure in their music. The sequence of emotions & dissipation of said emotions seems to mirror their own journey. When they first started, everything was pretty evenly balanced. They hit a few hard times & anger kinda made an appearance, but then they started enjoying things more....Then Woojin left & sorrow took hold for a while. But they came out of that better balanced, and now are taking pleasure in their work once again. Currently they take pleasure in their work, it's tempered with the other emotions, but the dominating drive they have is happiness & pleasure. The lyrics of the song are about locking away your stress & meeting the world with fun & music. The bus is an interesting thing. As well as being between the the factions of Joy & Sorrow (The back part was fully in Joy's section....But the front was in Sadness. Almost as if it had crashed into it.) , it's actually a call back to their beginning. And it's not the one from District 9, it's the one from Grow Up that was heading to District 9. I do think the District number being 325 is significant. Since that is the debut date, it has now become the beginning district. It WAS district 9 for the 9 of them, but that has changed over the years. And it is no longer just them. They invited ALL of us in in Back Door. At the beginning, it was small & sheltered. They were very careful of their district. But as they grew in confidence, they threw the notice out to everyone who wants to enter...All we have to do is knock. And Felix didn't swear. Felix is saying the Korean word for Shh. I believe it's Swit? So it's a work around on the no swearing rule. Stray Kids love homophones. I mean, look at the title for the album & this song. It means happiness/pleasure in Chinese. But it sounds like the English word "rock". So the album is Rock Star, and it's all about emotions. Every song on this album is designed to touch our emotions in different ways.
Oh goody! I can tell you a bit. I've been a fan of Seventeen for about 4 years. They debuted in 2015. Most were together in training 3-4 years before that so yes, they know each other well and care for each other. They are a self producing group. They write and produce their own songs with help at times. Also choreograph their own dance with some assistance here & there. They are well loved in Japan and have amazing Japanese releases. They are actually well loved all over the world. And tho they are in 3 main units--hiphop, performance and vocals---they can all pretty much do everything. I can suggest some songs to get you started. Then, if you like what you see you could do a guide. World Rock with You God of Music (their newest) SVT music cover a wide Left & Right range of genres. "What" is still in my top 3 favorite title tracks. It's heavy for a Korean release and I love the syncopation in the second half of the chorus. Story-wise this is the first time they wear non-uniform outfits, which I believe is because they lost Yoohyeon (or at least her spirit) and are kind of broken. You can also see them search for her alone, not as a group. For me this is a song about the loss of a loved one and what that does to a group or family. I might be reaching, but this is the meaning for me.

They're important dates for Stray Kids. 03/25 is their debut date (Bang Chan and Lee Know's numbers) 04/04 their first music show win date (Changbin and Hyunjin's numbers), 08/01 STAY's official birthday (Han and Felix's numbers) 11/23 the date of their very first concert (Seungmin and I.N's numbers)
ik this was a month ago but i just wanted to mention that hyunjin was also street casted solely on his looks alone and he had no prior history in dance sining or rapping at all so he basically started with no skill or knowledge and look at him now😊

i honestly can't think of a single title track from them that I disliked! Their side tracks have some hidden gems too, especially because they are not afraid to try out many different genres and I'd really suggest to check them out (either here on yt or in ur free time whatever suits you best :D) My favorite songs are In the Frozen and Silent Night which have more of an EDM vibe. Dreamcatcher is really a one of a kind group in this industry, they're chemistry on and off stage is amazing :0

Piri is so good. It was the first Dreamcatcher song I ever heard, though I didn't know it at the time. I immediately loved it and when I got to a red light, I grabbed my phone and liked it on the random playlist that was playing. I then promptly forgot about it until I found them again about a year later. You're almost out of the Nightmare series. You've got one song left, Breaking Out, which is a Japanese release and an alternate ending to the Nightmare series. After that we have Deja Vu, which is a self-contained MV, not tied to any storylines, as it was a collaboration with a mobile game called Kings Raid. Then you'll get into the Dystopia Trilogy with Scream, which was my first official introduction to the group. Scream blew my mind and made me an instant fan. I've been following them ever since. Don't feel bad about finding them now, we've still got plenty of years left with Dreamcatcher as they just renewed their contracts last year, a full year ahead of their contract renewal date. They love doing what they do, and they have an excellent relationship with the company and their staff. I expect them to keep putting out bangers for several more years to come. Plus, just think about all the amazing music you get to catch up on. You're not even 1/10th of the way through their current discography and that's not even counting their amazing intros/outros on their albums, the fantastic covers they do, or all the new music they've yet to put out.
In their search for Yoohyeon, the members become trapped in a maze of dreams. Yoohyeon slowly catches the others to bring them to her, and in the end they are all together in the same realm. But still trapped. Breaking Out has a alternate happier outcome. In the mazes, the members experienced nightmares & fears of the others and themselves. SuA experienced the dolls watching her. (Handong's nightmare power) JiU had the guilt of feeling as if she started the whole mess. You see her with the veild figure that first appeared in Fly High when they were succumbing to the curse. She sees herself, because she blames herself for failing to prevent this & to save Yoohyeon. Handong is hounded by the passage of time, till she throws one of the clocks away. Seiyeon & Dami are constantly running in the maze, till both are taken & left in white rooms till the others are together. Gahyeon tries to reach out with calling on the phone, but is taken & placed in a dark room by herself. She can presumably see what is happening, but can do nothing. After Breaking out, I'm going to give you a video that has a full story breakdown, that is incredibly in-depth.
"Piri" is the last part of the Nightmare Arc (their Japanese release "Breaking out" can be seen as an alternative ending). In "What", the girls have been searching for Yoohyeon, and here they find each other again, but in the end they are all stuck in the white dimension. A Piri is a Korean flute that was used historically to signal danger, and that is what Yoohyeon does here when the members arrive. She is the one capturing them one by one, to rescue them and bring them to safety. They are together in the end, but still stuck. Dreamcatcher don't do happy endings. 😉
