I didn't expect this from these two guests but it's shocking how lying has become so normal among some Ethiopian protestant preachers. The history of the Ethiopian Church traces its roots back to the Ethiopian Eunuch, whose evangelical journey wasn't stopped after returning to Ethiopia, he's commemorated every January 26th as a saint and he have eschatology significance within the Church. While Christianity becoming the official religion of the state in 4th century and receiving the gospel in 34 A.D is a different matter altogether. Both of the "doctors" need to stop undermining the true history of the Church. The other point is there is not a single Ethiopian scripture that designates St. Mary as a co-redeemer. I’m unsure whether this misconception arises from a deliberate agenda or a lack of understanding of the Church's fundamental doctrine; it is pure disinformation. I don’t know deeply about Aba Estifa (Stephen) but their case appears to be more political than religious. Him and his followers were not iconoclasts, in fact, their Gedel and monastery are full of iconography and does not reject the veneration or intercession of saints. And contrary to reformation they embrace monastic life; their monastery named GundaGundo, still exists in Tigray. It would be good to claim anything after visiting the site. I can understand that there is significant negativity from your base toward the Church but it's good to approach these topics rationally and back them on truth. The hosts should have invited a clergy from the Ethiopian Church to avoid turning the discussion into gossip. I hope they'll consider doing that next time. God bless you all!

Both 'docotrs' where did you get the idea that we worship St Mary , the cross , and saints?? We don't worship we venerate them. 'Dr Seble' where did you get the idea that we claim St Mary as a coredimer??? There is nothing which claims that in Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church! Do not talk about what you don't know. And the monk from the 14th century now that is a subject which you both really really don't know about!!!

You are very small babies to talk about Ethiopian Christianity .you are blind and liars. We know Reformation or Protestantism is not a faith or religion it is politics, business, prosperity, money . Protestantism is just wealth and health. Please people pray to the son of God and the son of Mary to open your heart and pray to our beloved mather holy virgin mery

These two ignorant remind me of Gregory Nazianzen (early father )who said "the strength of false teachers is false accusation" they are still blaming us for worshiping saint Mary or other thing. I know how you get your funds but, this is too much. We know protestantism is just simple philosophy not even enough to claim as a faith since every body has his own gospel understanding plus as it contains the 19th century curse the so-called "pentecostal".

25 years ago I heard Kevin Vanhoozer say we need people from all different cultures reading the Bible so we can fully understand what it says. I thought he advocated this because he holds to J Frame's perspectivalism. (The only reason Vanhoozer went to Westminster was to study under Frame and the semester he got there turned out to be the semester Frame began at Westminster California.) There are at least 3 links between biblical revelation and cultures. First, God himself - he does not change. Second, man - we all possess the same human nature and therefore in our depravity will all devise basically the same erroneous philosophies etc and share the same fallen desires. Third, sanctification - God is conforming all of his elect to the same image, the image of Christ, so as we grow in him, our minds will be renewed by faith and we should find greater commonalities. After all, there is but one faith (Eph 4; 2 Tim 1:13-14; 2 Pet 1:1; Jd 3). I thought things that were said here illustrated my point, e.g., people want the practical, the here-and-now. If a culture does not normally think about the future, those who come to faith will mature in their faith and think about the future - heaven - because the hope of biblical faith is eschatological/heavenly ... we see this from the beginning in Genesis and Job.

That is the wrong question. If anything is true or not can only so if the God of the Bible is there and has spoken. Without Him truth cannot exist and therefore no standard of truth can exist. I stopped using evidences for God. Presuppositional Apologetics is so much more biblical

MINDBLOWING!! For me this was highly radicle and to Ms Mburu's point that theology is being viewed through the unique cultural experience of people and this now offering a different perspective was so insightful. I am deeply challenged and motivated to think deeper and wider as I read, understand and apply scripture.

Being in the UK, I've found it challenging to share a belief/theology that acknowledges the spiritual realm, i.e., angels and demons, in light of the Bible's story. Some Christians strongly disbelieve that God has a council of heavenly beings and their active/passive role in the Bible. A discussion on hermeneutics is needed. People's filters for interpreting biblical text need to be widened.

I just realized that I intuitively see the past, present and future as manifestation of the present. I tend to think "the past" and '"the future" are presentist notions of the PRESENT. so, I can't perceive the future or past per se but the present, aside from how I likely assimilated into western notions of time, being adopted from Russia, which hamper my cognitive abilities apparently. however, this video is forcing me to realize I see the present as spoken from the idea of "past, present, future" paradigm.. a paradigm i don't always align with. to me, the present is the "past, present, future" but liminally indistinguishable aspects of the present. my notion of time may just align with my WM (WORKING MEMORY) and PS

Is it theology that forms the man of God or the word. I have nothing against studying church history. I tend to do it myself, however, the Lord says that he will send a helper and that helper will pretty much instruct you as to how you should go. Almost to the comparison of a child that is trained in the way he should go. While studying theology is great, it may possibly turn you into a textbook teacher/under shepherd. The combination of God's word and the instructions of the way, truth and life will guide you as to what you should tell His people. The God of Avraham/ Abraham & Moses that says what the great I AM will instruct through hem, is the same God now.

Ignorance always comes from west and our traitors. Ethiopia has a longstanding christian history throughout centuries. Just because you hate the existing foundation doesn't justify you right. How can you correlate the narration Act 8:27"there was a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was over all her treasure, who had come to Jerusalem to worship". As Sudan not Ethiopia. Shame on you. And why don't you worship God to your homosexual community there in your country and for those who publicaly established Satan Church. Agenda Of western missionary we know your routes and result ....

This brother presenting this video is totally wrong concerning the baptism of the Holy Spirit… The book of Acts speaks of five (5) clear instances where Believers were first saved, and then baptized with the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:4, Acts chapter 8, Acts chapter 9, Acts chapter 10, Acts chapter 19. Folks… Study yourselves, and don’t believe everything you hear!📖☝️

I have been listening to the White Horse Inn podcast for two years now, and I can't begin to articulate how much it has impacted my walk with Christ. I am a 23-year-old Ugandan who was raised in Word of Faith Pentecostalism, but I have since embraced Reformation Christianity, thanks in no small part to the ministry of Dr. Horton and the White Horse Inn podcast. Being a Reformed Christian in an environment dominated by prosperity preaching, Gnosticism, and anti-intellectualism amongst other things, is extremely challenging and often lonely. However, this recent series of interviews with African pastors and theologians, discussing the complexities of Christianity on our continent, has been both encouraging and edifying. It is wonderful to see that I have African brothers and sisters who are holding fast to and conteding for the faith once for all delivered to the saints. God bless you all!

The story Dr. Frew talks about the Monk Stephen (about the 12 th minute mark) is completely wrong. Stephen never rejected St. Mary or iconography. He never thought sola scriptural. He was quoting from many other books including Synod (which is part of the New Testament canon in Orthodox Churches). He never said the Biblical canon lists only 66 books. Please correct your understanding of history. Then you can understand Orthodoxy.

Thank you so much for the interview. My friend and I had the opportunity to meet Dr. Frew a couple of times. Although he didn’t know us at first, when we approached him with questions about our Christian journey, he graciously extended what was supposed to be a 5-minute conversation into more than an hour, explaining salvation to us. This happened about six months ago. Even after all his years of serving in the house of the Lord, He is incredibly humble and a true Christian❤

Dr. Frew was my Chemistry teacher at Ginir high school! I decided to follow Jesus after one of my best friends and classmate attended his sermon and told me about it. I remember the sermon was on the signs of the last days. it was 1992. I was 12 grade that year. Almost all students love Dr. Frew and Dr. SImon (the current president of Kalehiwot Church). They were dedicated educators! I am happy to see him here!
