I lack the words to fully explain how much the portal games, and this ending in particular, affected me. I finished portal two close to the end of high school and it’s ending parallels the sensation I felt at the end of being thrust out into a world that’s very different from what you’ve known until then. There’s a bit of Plato’s allegory of the cave to it
i remember i got this game on my dads pc. Was the first video game i got, couldn't have asked for a better first experience even though i didn't understand most of the references or jokes as i was young, this will always have a place in my childhood. Thank you Valve for making a phenomenal game, wish AAA still made games like this....
I'm so glad Chell will meet Gordon and the resistance members at city 17 along with Arne Magnusson, Issac Kleiner, Barney Calhoun, and Alyx and Eli Vance. and Chell will use her portal gun to fight Dr Breen and the combine and save Alyx from the G-man with the help of Eli, Gordon, and Judith by using the borealis.
(after chell was released to the surface) Chell: (bumps onto Gordon) Gordon: (surprised to see her for the first time) Gordon and Chell: (picks up the companion cube and crowbar and walks to his house) (A few years later Gordon and chell are married and have kids of thier own) Gordon and chell: (sits outside and smiled that the combine is wiped out for good and humanity is restoring itself)
I never noticed this buy you can see one of those fucked up walking turret cubes Wheatley made limping around in the back right behind the small turrets lol
Part of this is a heartfelt send off by Glados. She had to set up all those turrets with speakers afterall. Part of this is also Glados saying that she couldve turned chel into swiss cheese a million times over too. But for once she chose not to.
🥰I think after chell was released to the surface she found Gordon Freeman and falls in love with him and they both later have kids of their own. With their world now freed from the combine and humanity slowly restoring itself.🥰
0:11 I love that little hesitation there. idk why but it feels so iconic to me. almost as if Glados was hesitating if she could really send Chell off like this
this ending is one of the many, MANY reasons Portal 2 is my all-time favourite game. a real satisfying conclusion imo. Chell finally got what she was fighting for all this time - her freedom
