Los Angeles based drummer for Kataklysm & Hiss From The Moat (ex Hour of Penance and Vital Remains)
My channel is about drum related stuff that I do, from my work with bands like Hour of Penance and Vital Remains, my current bands Kataklysm and Hiss From The Moat and drum lessons on technique, coordination, indipendence, fills but also management and music business!
If you're a drummer who's struggling with something in your playing or career you can find a lot of information in my videos, but if you already watched all the possible videos on RU-vid and want to have a one-on-one confrontation to solve your problem, check out my instructional website jamespaynedrums.com to find more info, send me personal video questions and book Skype or in person lessons in you're in the Los Angeles area.
If you're just a fan of extreme metal drumming, you're still more welcome to stay and check out my video performances!
In any case, if you enjoy what I'm doing, subscribe to my channel!
Hey James, great video. When you perform the ankle technique on the pedal, do you keep your leg slightly elevated by having a static contraction of your hip flexor? So the upper leg is still fully relaxed, just "kept in the air" basically
Hey James ! Thx for your Videos!! Gave me a big Help to develop swivel. But I have serious Problems with combining both legs. Im able to Play Them synced, but playing a real doublebass is pretty hard. Could u make a Video about practicing/developing both feet ? Thank you !
possibly get a feel for ALL BPM's to play them all properly. I find 160 BPM to be the most complicated to control 😂 Everything slower & faster then that seem to work out easier. 🤷🏻♂️🤔
I do not feel comfortable playing anything smaller than Vic Firth American Classic Metal (which are 2B + an inch) I find it possible to play ANY genre of music ,from whisper soft to Extreme metal with this size. this is just my opinion & I am sorry if I have offended anyone I LOVE YOU
Fantastic, been watching your stuff lately, and you are a true inspiration, made me focus on my basics technique, progress starts with a good foundation.
As someone with a learning disability, I was hoping for some clarification. It looks like you are slightly rotating your wrist (counter-clockwise from the viewers' perspective; clockwise from your perspective) and shifting the sticks forward by a couple of centimeters. Is that correct? Love the content James, thank you! ✌️
