Funny enough the Pentagon was willing to help make this movie but they asked the director to remove Area 51 references. They refused and the Pentagon bailed. In 2013 they finally acknowledged Area 51 is real.
My theory is that a lot of those stumbles are him trying to remember what his pandering goofball Boston persona would say. I think that’s the secret to his dynasty. He knows mispronouncing things is a cornerstone of Boston culture. That and he’s a dummy.
This falling sword schtick is stolen straight from an old Clive Barker movie from the 90s, Lord of Illusions, except in the movie it's actually dangerous and scary. Douchebag. I love how the crowd is so underwhelmed. Not only are the swords striking miles away from his body, but he isn't even good at pretending anything of significance is going on. Just poor showmanship all around.
@peppino1961 Surprisingly, he did take it very well. The guys goofed on the song, Kimberly, and he even couldn't believe he performed it. Joe got into some really awful details about Kimberly Driscoll, and how he basically raised their children (while having to pay her child support). At one point, Joe was doing his Jersey schtick and Norton jumped in. Norton said, "Gee Joe, I didn't know you were from New Jersey". Piscopo being a bit daft, didn't get the sarcasm. It's worth a listen to IMHO.
