Police details are the ultimate boondoggle introduced by good old governor Dukakis. And it's egregiously abused! They could get by with the third of the lights they have on for road construction, etc I see police details at the end of a dead end road, etc etc.
It's amazing that you can be born in a city and live there your entire life but also be the mayor of that city and not being able to pronounce the name of that city! It's almost like getting your own name wrong.
