Just watched all three of your vids, man. You did a really good job with this series and it’s such a unique but very much needed take on tier lists that I’ve never seen before but I’ve sparsely mentioned. If you don’t mind, I would love to see you tackle Golden or Royal this way, especially Golden with Chie’s Black Spot hell and Yosuke learning very little physical moves overall.
Thanks! I'd like to someday do something similar for P4G since that should be pretty straightforward. P5R I would need to think about whether the jazz club would be in play and whether the run should be on Hard or Merciless.
who tf is most important to get the full story bru. i searched it up for every game just to make sure and it never gives me a clear answer. Which social link
There's no social link like Marie in P4G or Maruki in P5R that will unlock extra content, so you can just pick ones you like. If you just want social links for story, Hierophant, Hermit, Sun, Temperance, and Hanged Man are all pretty good. The Linked Stories are also all pretty good.
@@24hr-Gaming oh alright. Thank you. This was the only thing I was worried about cause in my first play through on P4G I completely missed Marie and Adachi so I didn’t get the true ending. And am currently playing both p5r and p3 r at the same time. (And yes it is a lot of hours being put into😭) but thank you.
Yukari: He does what I do! Ken: But better. Jokes aside, the choice between the two seem to be a matter of preference: Do you want a steady stream of healing at increasingly low costs, or do you want a generalist who can double as a late-game bulwark in a pinch.
Junpei really got buffed in this version. I remember people saying he was low tier in previous versions. The game could really use a superboss where you can bring your party members. Just so there's something your party members have something to use these endgame tools on.
@salami9701 I think the only enemy that would fit that is maybe one of the Greedy Hands. But in that case, physical would also still get bonus damage so I think the ranking would be mostly the same. Akihiko's 2nd theurgy might beat out Orgia mode, but a lot of the gaps are big enough where weakness bonus won't move the rank.
Really good video especially that part about yukari i might not use her in my ng+ playthrough because ill be rich however it is always nice to have party wide cleanse and heal for like 30 sp
She is good at the beginning, but the problem is almost all the things she's good at either stop being good or end up replaced by money, gear, or Ken. Even Sukunda gets replaced because Koromaru's trait is Auto-Masukunda. Party Concentrate is the one strength she keeps, but by the time she gets it, physical characters do a lot more than magic characters and she never moves from being the weakest in damage, even with her best gear.
Yeah people just see her characteristic and never take her out of the party or give Ken a real chance, she really isn’t that great end game. Ken is busted though, I’d say he’s the best party member but you have to learn how to play him.
@@Mikey_573 Yeah being able to use Divine Intervention every 4 turns and have his main attacking magic be 5 sp at base is really good. If he had a Pierce Boost weapon or if enemies were more tanky, he'd be in at least low S tier from my criteria.
There's a lot of old Nico Nico Douga videos that use text to speech for this kind of technical gameplay video. But subtitles is a good suggestion. Edit: I added subtitles incase the audio is too hard to understand.
I'll always love Mitsuru for being the only party member with charge skills (we don't talk about Shinji), but man, they didn't need to take Ice Amp from her 😔
It is a huge shame she lost amp. But even with amp she'd still be behind the physical characters a lot. What she really needed was her own personal damage modifier as her personality trait instead of a passive boost to crit which doesn't help her at all.
The Hermit boss isn't a big deal. The MC can solo it with electric break Mothman, but Fuuka won't let you go alone. I had Aigis, Yukari, and Mitsuru die in that fight so I could take all the exp for myself.
@@24hr-Gaming I guess the AI controlled party members in FES weren't very good. Around the mid-game, the player can start making personas that are immune to the attacks of many mini-bosses. A lot of the time I would fight alone and turn on rush and youtube.
Yeah fusion and well in FES the MC's theurgy spells are just spells you can use as long as the Persona are in your party. That and there's no guard so if you have a party member that's weak to anything, you're going to have a really bad time. The AI control is also pretty bad. There's no way to disable spells you don't want them to use, so for example mid-game you have some really bad problems with characters that learn Break spells because they'll use them even in situations where it doesn't make sense.
@@24hr-Gaming I don't think my level would be that high when Shinjiro is available, but I would like bonus exp when fusing chariot persona because all of them seem really good.
My mid game setup was koromaru (permanent), yukari and ken. It's a support build, especially for that siegfried crit build. The end game (just Adamah) was aigis, koromaru and junpei.
It's kind of an inversion of the common dynamic in RPGs where physical characters ultimately peter out late game in favor of casters. Near-purely physical Junpei and Aigis become very dominant while the mainly magic-leaning Mitsuru ultimately trails and Akihiko pulls a Mario and does well in both despite not being a specialist.
For most SMT games physical usually ends up stronger than magic. The main exception is Devil Survivor 1 because physical is pretty limited in that game. In FES physical was still very strong but late game you had access to busted spells like Thunder Reign, which ended up being more balanced. P4 and P5 are completely physical dominated, though the technical system in especially P5R does help magic a lot.
Sorry about that. You are correct. I use an AI voice to do the dubbing of the videos and the pronunciation of Japanese names sometimes comes out a bit funny.
Moon you'll be able to finish in the week and a half vacation at the end of December. Fuuka and Yukari being that low is a little rough, but you should still have time I think. Mitsuru is the easiest one since the week before exams in December she's the only social link available.
Yeah, I didn't consider that for this run. Though I don't think it would have shaved the turn count down by much. But, I did go back and test with at least Mitsuru since max strength would potentially make some of the phases easier for her and the result is also not much difference. She needs at minimum someone throwing concentrate on her every turn for her to try to keep up with the physical characters. She also needs the MC to constantly apply Ice Break otherwise it's impossible for her to get below two turns on the resist and null ice phases.
I figured this out actually. It mattered a lot in a lot of bosses for me, as I usually just saved Theurgies for those. It didn't matter in the end because I ended up beating the Reaper and I didn't know it gave so much EXP, so all my party went to lvl 99 xD and I also fused Helel and Satan and accidentally found out that unlocks a one shot Theurgy. Nyx was a breeze, mostly used physical attacks to one shot most phases and then Armaggedon the last phase of Nyx. This game has a lot of OP mechanics, was significantly easier for me than P5R
@@2amichaelj I see. Thank you for the clarification. So to get the colorless mask which is the fusion item, you don't need any of the linked episodes. However, to actually fuse Orpheus Telos you need Thanatos (Pharos), Asura (Kamiki), Chi You (Mutatsu), Metatron (Aigis), Helel (Hayase), and Messiah (Judgement). Fusing Metatron requires completing Ken's Linked Episode to unlock Michael which will let you fuse Metatron.
first person that makes a video this, so thanks for clarifying this for less informed players but sadly there's no possible way mitsuru will outdamage aki's or junpei's magic theurgy
Yeah. The potency difference and the gap in Buff Amp vs Magic Mastery plus Mitsuru not having access to Shift Amp means Mitsuru can never match Akihiko or Junpei. But it's not for lack of trying.
I'd have to double check but her both of her Theurgy likely scale off of both Strength and Magic. But the problem is Theurgy 1 is 180 potency which is lower than everyone else and for Theurgy 2 she has zero boost and amps for it which makes it the weakest of all the offensive Theurgy. There is no reason to ever use it over Theurgy 1.
Mitsuru's run was done last since I had to redo it. I realized having only basic attack as her other option besides spending a Concentrate stock which she needs every turn to keep up with the phys characters was unfair. However her only way to shave turns for her is the 2x charged crit Neuro Slash. Ice Break into Diamond is turn neutral because she needs that Concentrate for later turns. She has no options for 1 turning those phases without Theurgy unless you want to be nice and have MC cast Ice Break for her. And even then she can't guarantee 1 turn because she still needs someone to feed her Concentrate. Mitsuru needs help indeed.
Great overview. One thing I will point out is that Suemitsu needs to be unlocked on a school day despite being an outside school link. Hyper-optimized calendar runs will want to unlock him before summer vacation, otherwise you run out of links to do and waste about four days.
