I was left with Complex Partial Seizures or Focal seizures I think they now call them in 2004 after numerous blows to the head which damaged the "left temporal lobe" during a Domestic Violence incident. I was left with a Traumatic Brain Injury at the age of 43. In 2005 I was having two seizures six months apart until the doctors started me on Epilim which I stopped suddenly in 2007 because of the side effects which then increased the seizures. This then brought the seizures monthly so I am now having anywhere from 2 - 5 seizures a month at approximately the same time every month around the same time when my hormones changed. It is unethical that I was never told about the keto diet before trying me on medication as it may have stopped the two seizures a year. In 2007 the doctors decided to start trying all sorts of different medications again. This went on for about six years with no change to the seizures, in fact the medications were making the seizures worse. I have around 20 - 24 seizures a year which I have documented for many years. I decided to stop all medications in 2012 because they were not making any change to the amount of seizures I was having. I am still refusing medications and started researching the keto/carnivore diet about two years ago after one of my first bad falls in June 2022.

Our baby has been on a carnivore diet since 4 months old, starting with pureed steak. We fortified her food with ghee and beef dripping. Now at 8 months, she has 4 teeth (2 top, 2 bottom), and her height and weight are equivalent to that of a 1-year-old, likely due to my husband's genes. However, she developed eczema, which concerns me. I couldn't exclusively breastfeed due to low milk supply despite following a lactation consultant's advice, so she was on a mix of breast milk and goat milk-based formula. We've recently cut out dairy and switched to calcium-fortified coconut milk, and her eczema has started to improve with the addition of non-dairy probiotics. I was initially worried it was her meat-heavy diet, but she’s thriving otherwise. Has anyone had a similar experience? I was hoping a clean diet would prevent eczema. Any insights would be appreciated.

Seed oil fearmongering too. Oh dear. Shame on you David for peddling myths about childhood cancer to parents trying to do their best. No, you won't get fired for demonising foods, so you can claim anything you want with no repercussions! I encourage viewers (& David) to look at the evidence hierarchy. Expert opinion is lowest & AFAIK David's a lawyer, not a Registered Dietitian?? Be selective & intelligent in your research folks. @hannahmitchell87 good question, and thanks for sharing it - I am keen that the science we discuss is sound. I believe he is referring fructose being converted into fatty acids and triglycerides (TG) in the metabolic pathway known as “de novo lipogenesis” Fructose drives de novo lipogenesis affecting metabolic ... Increased de novo lipogenesis after excessive fructose intake in parallel with a decreased fatty acid oxidation is thought to lead to hepatic fat deposition, or fatty liver disease.

I am trying ketovore and doing a trial on myself for seizures started in 2004 after a TBI caused through DV. The meds made the seizures worse so I stopped meds in 2012 & suffered the seizures. I have been slowly researching the keto/ketovore diet for 2yrs after a fall. The doctors wanted me back on the same drugs. I thought if the keto diet was used on children why not adults. Anyway I was going to try to find out before even thinking of drugs again. I started the keto diet myself after a dietician started me on a low carb diet for 3 months when I had asked for keto. The dietician doubled my vegetable intake & started me on many vitamins she was selling. I have started a few different variations since Jan 2023. I am on high proteins & various oils including MCT & Coconut oil. The seizures were getting better my friends told me as I never knew I had them. For the first two months of this year I had not had a seizure when I normally have anywhere from 2-5 a month or around 24 a year. They seemed to come when my hormones changed, I am 63. I had changed the diet slightly in Sept 2023 and added a few low oxalate vegies. From Jan 2024 I had gone two months without a seizure then tried 85% - 95% dark chocolate over a few weeks with about 6 chocolates. I stopped all chocolate from that day. I have just gone nearly two months again without a seizure.

Sorry to hear this! We cannot provide any medical advice on here, and it would not be fair to you to get standard info when you need specific support . Fatty Liver in early stages can be reversed with diet - depending on severity and any other contributing factors and medications taken. I would suggest working with your medical team closely to monitor, as well a nutritionist that you are comfortable with to make the food changes needed. Keep a close watch on symptoms, and get checked if they get worse. I offer nutritional consultations claire@leafie.org Or you may prefer to see someone local to you. Take care!

I'm not sure that food IS something that should be enjoyed. My mother used to say quite often, "Do you live to eat or do you eat to live". And we rarely used food to celebrate things in our family. Now it seems unheard of to not bring food to every event that takes place. If you really think about it, especially if you're a carnivore, it's a necessary bodily function that's not real pretty. Sort of like taking a shit.
