@@Goodwood2010 All are accurate in their notes and pitch, but the GoPro one is somewhat too « clean » and a bit muffled. VBox is similar but slightly better as it feels more raw. Cambox (my Bahrain onboard from a year ago after Misano) is a bit over saturated, but I think it’s more accurate. The real thing hurts your ears if not protected, so the Cambox does it justice ;)
@@cedric1808 Thank you for your (very quick) reply. Do you find the difference between the different exhaust systems (such as the unsilenced Supercup exhaust used in the Middle East) noticeable in the cockpit, or is the sound dominated by other factors? Thanks again.
@@Goodwood2010 A tiny bit louder inside but not much. It amplifies a bit what’s already inside. Transmission is the very loud, very high pitch sound while engine is the lower, in sync sound you can hear if you pay attention. Both are right behind the driver so yeah… ouch 😅
question: isn't pressing the throttle whilest breaking a big no no? or is he useing some driveing teqnuice or driveing style that allows this to be quicker?
@@vam120thegamer4 The throttle gauge is bugged 🤷♂️ I do tend to make the mistake of overlapping pedals when switching between the 2 (left foot braking) but that’s not what we see here. Also, for those who wonder, the spikes in downshifts are the automatic « heel and toe » done by the car.
You take the cut on the second fast sweeper final sector. hm. Popometers fastest times go wide. i feel cutting the corner is faster though. You do the same. What gives?
I start braking before the curb (on it when the track is dry) and at that speed, if the steering wheel isn’t perfectly straight, the front wheels lock up easily without ABS, so I try to create a straight line by cutting
Thank you for sharing your experience and responding to comments from simracers as I have read below. It's always interesting to make real / game comparisons for us who can't access this pleasure in real life!
It can be installed, but in one make series (i.e only cup cars), TC isn’t allowed and only drivers in the AM class can have abs. I had neither in that race
Thanks. Although it’s actually very slow that way, and induces a lot of understeer. My onboad in Misano is more representative of the right way to handle the car ;)
Cedric, it is the CUP version (no TC) ? I got abit confused by the title (maybe it’s just me and this is how they’re actually called). I always struggle in the last corner (i could hear you lift as well), works flat only when i start really late the corner, where the kurbs on the left side end (maybe in ACC there are different kurbs as well). Cheers!
Yep, it’s the cup car. No TC no ESP and… no ABS 🥵 I’m pretty sure the last corner can’t be flat though. You’d end up in the gravel. Lifting, and sometimes touching the curbs, helps the rear rotate to carry speed on exit and counter the understeer. Really tough to get right, especially after a bad exit at the chicane
@@cedric1808 Wow, ABS also, it seemed to me you brake earlier and not that hard and massage the downshifts, but i put it on the diffrence between real and sim game. Regarding the last turn, you know, a sim game is still only a game.
Hi! Really a great video! I would like to have a similar pov video for my next track session. Can I ask you how you mounted your action camera on your helmet?
I get better laptimes than you, but your graphics and sound are amazing!!! On a more serious note, i use exact same gears as you, appart from the last turn, i stay in 3rd. I couldn’t be more jealous!
:) Cheers! For the last corner, I realised I could keep 3rd when downshifting. I knew my lap was correct given the intermediate conditions and was conservative at the end. Overall I could have been .5s faster on the lap, but it felt good, so I'm happy with that
There's a lot of "feeling" involved so it depends a lot on the driver and their setup. I've found that for me rFactor2 with the new 992 Cup car is the closest in terms of car behavior, tire model (temp, pressure) etc... ACC isn't bad at all, although I find the engine/transmission sound completely off, and that's enough to distract me as a mean to practice. Finally iRacing physics for that car specifically don't speak to me at all, but they're coming with a general GT3 update this month so we'll see :) I think sim racing as a way to learn tracks and techniques such as trail braking is good, but all the things you feel with your body in the real car have to be "translated" into some kind of force feedback in the steering wheel. That's why, as close as it gets, you can be good at one and not at the other. Still, real life track time is limited, so it's better than nothing and good practice to stay in "the zone"
@@Goodwood2010 this is as accurate as it gets. Actually, for a perfect rendition, crank the volume up untill you feel the need to cover your ears ;)
