I have to say that the ulanzi will fit on a case or rig and is well presented and the clarity or soft as you mention ion the sign is Mr perfection kicking in and in film, even at the cinema stage who sees that plus your going to watch this on substandard gear, so twice the price or more is Questionable.

For me and the level of production I'm at... THIS is exactly the case. Blackmagic provides me exactly what I need for when I'm having do to most of the work on the indie movies I have shot. At this point I go in assuming I'm bringing Camera, Lighting and Grip. Nothing too big but I'm providing all that and I have very little help. The URSA Mini Pro G2 and now the Pocket 6K Pro combined with the RS3 Pro and LIDAR are an amazing combo. I can go from my tripod to dolly to jib to handheld super quick! Usable screens on both cameras, simple menu system, false color, LUTS, BRAW, build in NDs, EF mount for my photo lenses/vintage lenses, easily swap to PL mount for PL Lenses all these things make them great cameras for me to actually own and not break the bank cause I know I'm going to be using these cameras for majority of the projects I shoot and don't have a crew to help. I would love to shoot ARRI at some point but until then if I'm hired and I don't have a crew, I'm using my BMs

I had to stop watching the film about 1/3 in. The low light was much too frustrating. I couldn’t see what was going on most of the time. I understand that people think that makes it “artsy”, but I saw no point in continuing to watch if I couldn’t tell what was happening. My eyes hurt trying to adjust to the low light for so long.

I heard the cable is usb-C on one end and usb-A on the other, which makes no sense, but is that true? If so do we need to be careful about what kind of converter to use? Thanks for all the info!!

Nobody said you need the best of the best to make movies, its just that if you want wide spread viewing over mulitple platforms you need the best of the best, some film festivals demand a certain type of camera, most streaming services have reuirements fro cameras, you cant just pick up and use whatver, but if youre shooting for youtube or vimeo anything goes. just dont expect a major production house studio deal thingy

I don't think it's so much that the gear doesn't matter. I think it's more that consumer hardware has gotten so good compared to professional hardware from decades ago, that you don't need modern top of the line equipment for most use cases.

@brunobilandzija1823
@brunobilandzija1823 8 дней назад
Exactly! If you use it all the time, it loses its effectiveness when really needed, so the film lacks visual dynamic and becomes flat in that regard. People use all sorts of things just because they're "cool", like wide aspect ratio that doesn't benefit that film in any way, and even worse, often it degrades it in many ways. Thanks for all the amazing videos! 🍀

I wonder if Blue Ruin (2014) even made it's money back? as even though the camera as prosumer, the production budget was $420,000 and the complete revenue made was about $1.3m, there are a lot of fingers on that pie taking a slice in distribution. At least it show what is possible for the price of a small house 😀

in 2004 i make a movie using Panasonic DVX100, then afterthat im doing many TVC using almost everry kind of camera, from ARRI SR II, ARRI BL 35 [celluloid] then comes digital world [which is many youtuber suddenly become filmaker] i use canon 5D mark i-ii, red,sony, alexa,BMPCC, Ursa,Lumix, Sigma.. then in 2020 i make movie using Red epic + BMPCC 6K, 2023 i make movie again using SONY FX 6+FX 3. in my opinion.. Canon is good at 5D MK II. after that Canon C 300 is too sharp, is very Video look.. idk, why millenials youtuber like to ddiscus about this Canon C 300. is not a give film look to me..

@impatrickt
@impatrickt 13 дней назад
a lot people keep mentioning the lens cost but its totally irrelevant - i was gonna rent the 75mm for this video and it would be been 600 for a whole week lol thats nothing. in fact, in part, you are right - thats why the creator looks good too. the lens but cost is not an issue with lenses because renting is so economical.

@@impatrickt yeah but The Creator also still has that Sony look which looks a bit mechanical. I own a A7S3 which has really helped me notice if a movie was shot with a Venice. "Crazy old like sony like handycam like things..." excuse me while I shrivel up and die. Also, Gareth was NOT shooting on a "handycam". It was the Sony EX3 (part of sonys ENG line of cameras) with a Letus35mm converter. This was our way of getting that cinematic look before the 5D Mark II came on the scene and really changed the game for low budget filmmakers.

One big obstacle that gets in the way of the Apple Vision Pro being a substitute for a trip to the movies: weight. Far more comfortable to watch a movie for 2 hours without something as heavy as the Vision Pro. If there was a way to have the Vision Pro suspended from a ceiling to prevent the need for your body to carry the weight, then it would be closer to being a legit substitute for going to the theater.

People like to obsess about gear because pointing out how Director A used hyper expensive camera Y is a convenient excuse for why they themselves aren't capturing Hollywood level footage.

Location/Production Design/Set Design/Set Decoration over everything else. Lighting is important but you can plan and frame around natural light. You'll blow through a lot of budget trying to fight the sun.

...and this is how and why most of the movies on Netflix and Amazon are garbage. Any wannabe with a cheap camera is now a director, producer, DP...shooting nothing with nothing subject in a nothing location, hoping to sell their POS creation to streaming providers. Also forgot to mention, get the hell off the WOKE bandwagon mentality.

the fact that you’d never know unless you read IMDb makes this irrelevant
@CHproduction94
@CHproduction94 23 дня назад
@@impatrickt Well it still makes it relevant, in terms of DI. There is much work being done behind the scenes in matching footage with different color sciences. Yes you can match any two cameras these days, but not everyone has the display prep pipeline that big studios have with the help of color scientists. It’s not like they are throwing footage in the timeline and matching it by eye.
@impatrickt
@impatrickt 22 дня назад
@@CHproduction94 the point of my video was not that you should shoot on a Ronin. It’s that you shouldn’t even think about the camera outside of whatever makes it easiest for you. Which is why I simply don’t care.
