I noticed this was three years ago. I have Cubase elements 12 running and have just bought a Roland Juno DS 66 key keyboard. I am assuming, hopefully that I can run 16 different sounds on different tracks in my Cubase like I used to back in the 90s with a basic Cubase program and a Roland JV 30. Thank you
You can do, but I don't think that Elements 12 has external instruments? (Comparison chart is not helpful on this topic). You can still send 16 different MIDI tracks on 16 different channels to the Juno DS as it uses General MIDI 2, and I'm sure you'll be able to access all the other sounds via MIDI as well (I've just had a quick look at the manuals and it looks like a bit of reading will be needed to get all this working from Cubase). You can then just route that back to Cubase as audio if you want to work further with it.
I have a question. Do You know how to get VST Control Room using Midi Remote? There is something like that under Generic Remote. It is useful to control CR's inserts. All the best
I've discovered a work around to the Arp situation but you need the new Halion Sonic 7 version which replaced Halion Sonic SE. 1.First right click on an arp variation in Trip's arp page and copy it. 2. Then click on the program tab in the edit window, and activate the flex phraser on the program level. 3. Paste the variation to one of the 8 variation slots. 4. Now click the "e" icon to edit. Now you have full control of the arp programming!!! Unlocking Trips full potenial. Only downfall is programs with 2 or more layers, you'll have to sacrifice one arp, because you can only use one arp on the program level. But just open up another instance of Trip and repeat if you want to use multiple arps.
Oh yeah and don't forget to turn off the flex phraser AKA arp on the layer level. This is done by clicking the Edit tab. Then click the Program tab. Then click the FlexP button on the layer you want to turn off.
The day these separators figure out how to sort the verb per instrument the quality with go up exponentially. That's what causes the lion's share of phasing/aliasing/gating issues imho.
Has anyone encountered a model that is able to separate snare or kick? If yes that will be a gating game changer. (Fadr+ and Spectralayers can do it - and maybe there's some obscurely named model out there for Demucs that can do it as well.)

Trip isn't listed separately in Download Assistant - I think it gets installed with the Halion Sonic Content. Have a look in the Steinberg LIbrary manager, you should see it listed separately in there. The way Steinberg does content is pretty confusing.
Hi me again... been watching.... beginning to understand - BUT at what part was say the Dorico/Elements trial loaded - you say open it - but when/how did you install it.... sorry to be a pain really appreciate your help so far!
You install from the Steinberg Download Assistant, so you should see your trial version in there (or the full version even, the licence will work for that and then expire at some point).
@@musictechtuition Really appreciate your help.... He did get it all going - but we now have the problem of sounds... It appears that Halion sonic se 3 no longer exists and for the life of 'us' we cannot find the good old piano, bass, strings guitar organs etc that we were used to... I have it on my Elements 10,5 and 12 (two macs) but not seeing anything remotely like 'normal' everyday instruments in 7 (then again I am trying to do this remotely with someone new to Mac AND Cubase.... Aaaaargh!
The only practical use for me would be splitting out drums for a nice usable drum pattern starting point, and using a DRUM REPLACER to get the MIDI of it and modify it all to purpose and of course just skip all the quality issues. I expect it won't be long, and we can simply directly get the MIDI and bypass the stem step completely via AI. In fact, I expect AI will just spit out alternate takes based upon that starting point, or even the ability to merge TWO drum "stems" (again, not really getting the stems as an interim step, but directly from two (or more) full mixes of songs) and have AI produce a MIDI drum track that is a random BLEND of those two patterns, sort of like MORPHING between them for semi-infinite variety with some knobs or sliders to vary the final output... We should shortly be going beyond what ReMIDI can do already in the MIDI domain and be able to use ALL recordings as sources to get not just audio quality limited stems shown here, but good quality MIDI from ANY INSTRUMENT in a full mix for repurposing. THAT will be fun.

@@musictechtuition He/we are getting confused with Download Assistant and activation manager... is there any part of your original video that he should be following... he got as far as seeing download assistant then got stuck... you say run activation manager as you would do normally - But he's never used it (and I dont have it on one of my macs with Elements 10.5 on it) I do on the other machine with 12.... This is how I'm getting confused as well.
Thank you! After removing/adding my input/output bus (to try to resolve another issue) I could not figure out why my VSTs weren't playing audio. The specific "edit channel setting" button with the "No Target" was the culprit! Harder to find since I wasn't working with audio tracks (which would show the output on the inspector) Appreciate the help! 🤩
I remember having this be a problem years ago, and it was the synth that was the issue - it was (if I remember correctly) the release portion of the notest that were responding to pitch bend (as they should, I guess). The way I solved it was by duplicating the track and alternating notes between them, so the next note happened on another track and the pitch bend for it wasn't changing the note before (as then there was a gap between notes).

Is the "not being able to turn off the arp" and Halion Sonice (SE) issue only, or is this how they actually make you buy the big full version, so you can turn it off?
Is there a de noiser included? I have used garage band with audacity for denoising the distant past, but audacity is not available online anymore. I tried the noise gate on garage band, but it cut my recordings to bits. TY
So when there is a plugin with a installer. I agree to everything enter password. And then says move to trash or keep. Is ok that I press move to trash. It is just putting the installer in trash right?
@@musictechtuition@musictechtuition I did download 7-zip, and tried a different unzipping program, but I couldn't get 7-zip as an option, and the other one unzipped it within itself, but I couldn't find where it stored it. I'll try again later, but I spent over an hour on it, downloading it twice, and that was enough time and data spent on it at the time. I have some old recordings of my band, so being able to separate them rather just remaster would be great. I'll see if that link is any different to what I used, thanks.
@@Dave-Rough-Diamond-Dunn If you're on windows, you should be able to right-click the file, and then from there pick 7-Zip > Extract To (folder name) and you should be good?

THANK YOU for Demucs GUI recommendation. Fast, free, easy and I got my stems. Amazed at remixing with complete separation of bass, drums, guitar and vocals. The size, the price and bigness of SpectralLayers scared me off. Demucs GUI...Done deal for free. Got near perfect drums from favorite songs to now jam to and extract MIDI from. Saved me money !
Saying continuously "Excetera" and "very quickly this" or "very quickly that" shows that you cannot be bothered in showing us much and that you don't really want to do this video. In fact you hardly explain anything. Your tone is very dismissive and off-putting. Let someone else do a better video if you don't fancy doing this.
very well stated thoughts on this topic, which IMHO will be the most controversial thme in mussic discussion at least this and the next year. so here are my 2 cents: I just created my 4th AI tune as some kind of jingle for a local cat rescue home here in my area in germany and everybody just loves it, they might put it on their website - if someone asks who is singing, I will say AI. before that, I did 2 birthday songs for friends and a promotional song for a charitable association, they all liked it. sometimes it was quite easy to get decent results from my prompts, sometimes it was very hard and I had to be persistant to get a nice result. if we say that that art is something that elicits emotional response, then my opinion is that AI creations are indeed art - I am reminded to the works of P.K Dick, who spend his artistic lifetime trying to convince the world that androids could be much more human than humans themselves in some cases - and indeed, my AI songs did elicist emotional response to my surprise. does this make me the artist? yes - I am determining the final result and the song is a product of my personal will.the AI is just a tool like instrumental plugins and sample libraries. I also have to say that while spending most of my 6 decades o life listening intensively to music of all kinds, while having no traditiional musical education at all. during the last 5 years, I made my own music with a DAW, sample libraries and instrumental plugins just for fun, but I did also some theater music for local university acting groups. I am glad that I don´t have to earn any money with my art... btw: you have a new subsciber!
Great video! But I still have issues. The drum machine that I am using is called Splat-to-Clat by GospelMusicians, and in it I can assign every pad to a mono output(between 1-16). When I activate outputs like you showed us, no mono channels appears. I am stuck using stereo channels for mono sounds, and even if I do that I only have 9 stereo outputs(including Main), but the drum machine has 12 pads.. What should I do?
Not sure but you may be able to change the channel configuration to mono ? In terms of the the pads maybe duplicate the instrument so you have more outputs? I might be totally wrong but just some ideas
