Go miniled like a TCL U7N, love mine. Picture quality is great and you see so much improvement over a regular LED. I notice better black levels and a more uniform picture like your shirt and hat in the video. I can see more detail and what they are made out of
Author can you answer: why are LG's OLED TVs only getting worse? I liked the c6 model more in Dolby Vision than the c2!It seems to me that black used to be more pleasant, and all the colors are not so poisonous!! LG OLED C6 THE BEST 😁😁
Recently bought TCL X955 after owning 3 OLED TVs earlier, 77” C1 being the last. Do I prefer the inky black from OLED, of course. But with the contrast control and size of the mini leds, easy choice. Now with 98” I would probably need a 100+ OLED to make the next switch.
Thanks for your insight. I am stuck in FOMO! Ordered an U76N 100" ($2000) from Best Buy. It isn't mini LED but can't justify 50% more for U8 ($3,000) for mini. Do you think the U8 is worth the 50%? I'm not a gamer but do like old school (less than 4k) movies.
you win! yes, I was testing the noise removal tool to see how effective it is - essentially I had a loud fan blowing and then attempted to remove it in post to see how good it was. Did you hear the slightly low level noise still? Or did my voice sound altered?
@@stopthefomo Hi Fomo! Firstly thank you posting these videos. They are excellent and very helpful. 😊. I live in the UK and noticed a lot of the models you review are very different in the UK market, such as the software used and specs (i.e. Hisense has VIDAA instead of Google and ADS panels instead of VA). Would be great if you could include the different specs for different regions, in your reviews With regards to the sound, your voice was fine, but there was a background noise, which I'm now assuming was the fan blowing. It was distracting if I'm honest but I tried to zone it out of my hearing
I’ve had the Bravia for 3 weeks now and it has surpassed all my expectations and the black levels are insane. I honestly didn’t think it was possible to get inky blacks on mini-led but Sony has found a way.
Great info thank you! If I'm upgrading from my 2016 edge-lit LED Samsung to a new 75", would you recommend u8k or x90l in 75"? Both are on sale but u8k 75 has the ADS PRO panel instead of VA. - Thanks
Start with the 75" U8K because it does have better off angle color saturation, however, if you find the skin tones to be off (or motion having too much soap opera effect) regardless of the setting, then get the X90L as it nails skin tones out of the box in Custom Mode. Currently the 75" u8k is a great deal howl.me/cmNb4BebUOI
You are speading misinformation and adding to the confusion with this video the G4 is nowhere as bright as the bravia 9 nor is it the brightest OLED TV. The bravia 9 has an average peak brightness of 2400 nits, the G4 has an average peak brighness of 1500 nits. The Samsung S95D is actually the brightness OLED tv with a average picture brightness of 1700 nits.
Disagree, on the 65" side by side, the Bravia 9 simply cannot compete in brightness short of Vivid mode. I'm not talking static patterns which the B9 does do well but actual sports feeds (youtube TV) and movies (Kaleidescape or disc). As a matter of fact, at MWAVE our Sony team couldn't get the Bravia 9 bright enough to beat the G4 in Standard mode and in Vivid it was a near match. I have not tested the 85" personally so you may be right with that larger size. Do not trust static window peak measurements as ALL TVs will alter their performance (some worse than others) with real content versus "window measurements".
Great Video. If money doesn't matter, would you rather buy a) LG M3 (97") or b) Samsung Micro LED MNA101MS1BCXXE (101"). I never saw a Micro LED in real life, but I've heard a lot about it (both positive and negative).
101" microLED doesn't have the internal processing awesomeness of the LG M3 so many who've gotten the microLED also pay an additional $15K for the MadVR processor. I'd start with the M3 (less heat as well) and then go up to the 101".
Nice video FOMO with helpful info. Interesting that you say you would put the G4's and S95D's brightness up there with the Bravia 9. You should know since you've compared with the reference monitor 😃. Lots of folks still balk at OLED"s lack of full screen brightness compared to MiniLEDs and lower peak brightness (~1500nits OLED vs ~3000nits+ for MiniLeds). Are you saying that real world watching, the difference isn't that great?
Correct - full screen brightness (100% stimulus white) of the Bravia 9 is brighter but that does not exist in real content. The Bravia 9 is bright and arguably among the brightest on window stimulus tests but in real content the G4 and S95D match it scene for scene (65" size of course). ALSO, please remember that firmware updates may improve B9 performance or worsen OLED performance so things may change in 3 mnonths!
QLED isn't a separate technology though. It's just Quantum dot film on an LCD TV that can be either direct-lit FALD or MiniLED FALD. Virtually all MiniLED are also "QLED" today.
Agreed - It's an additional feature/technology to improve LCD image quality just like adding FALD or miniLED, and I did mention that in my video that if you're getting a FALD or MiniLED you have QLED (or quantum dot layer) in your backlight system.
When comparing Rtings's reviews for the Sony non mini-LED X90L with the Hisense U8N and TCL 2024 QM8, I'd still go with the Sony. After comparing the Rtings reviews, I'm still satisfied with my X90L even though it might have more blooming and its highlights might not get as bright because of its accuracy and the various other areas of importance to me it excels in all at once. I got my Sony 85-inch X90CL from Costco for $2,000 in December of 2023 and even after checking out Rting's reviews of the 2024 offerings, I couldn't be happier about how the Sony X90CL falls perfectly within that sweetspot of performance, size, and price. I still wait for its rival within this sweetspot, but none of the reviews have revealed such results at this moment.
@@stopthefomo It depends on what's more important I guess. For this price range, if deep black levels, minimal blooming, and extra bright specular highlights are most important, then the Hisense U8N and TCL 2024 QM8 would be the way to go. If pre-calibration color accuracy, shadow detail, gradient handling, and PQ EOTF tracking are more important, then for the price, I prefer the Sony X90L from 2023 which is still being carried over. At this price, we have to pick our poison. If money was no object, I'd have a Sony 85-inch Bravia 9 on one cart and a 77-inch Sony A95L on the other cart. I'd choose which one to roll into my viewing area based on ambient lighting, time of day, what I'm watching, etc.. While not many of us can afford it including myself, having a Sony 85-inch Bravia 9 on one cart and a 77-inch Sony A95l on another cart is perfection. My reservations about the LG G4 is its less saturated color due to its WOLED panel.
lol why does this comment section feel like it’s 2019/2020. People who overpaid for overrated inferior Mini LED acting like OLED and QD OLED are at risk of imminent burn in 🤣. We don’t all watch the news 20 hrs a day, What a joke. If you’re truly serious about your tv Get an A95L or G4 and don’t look back period. Go Bravia 9 only if you watch the news 20 hrs a day or you have about 8 plus windows in your watching space or can’t afford the G4 at 83. And if your space is truly dark the Bravia 8 or C4 would be the value play at 77-83.
What's the best option for watching movies /tv series in a dark room? No sports or broadcast television, I'm thinking about LG g3 77 for the black Friday, but that size is never in stock on the LG website
According to the secret Sony service menu I've got over 25,000 hours on my X95K. It was a best buy open box so I guess it ran 24/7 but I've been using it heavily for over a year now with zero issue and for $800 I'm not complaining. An LCD made with quality capacitors in the power supply is going to give you your money's worth no doubt about it.
I ditched my S95B for a Sony Bravia7. This is the most impressive TV I have ever had. My previous TVs were: Panasonic VT 20EA,LG B7, Samsung S95B. As you can see this is my first LED TV. Bravia 7 outclassed all those tvs except OLEDS pitch blacks but B7 has a very good backlight system even in a pitch black room, the blooming is invisible. Brightness, color saturation, shadow details, color accuracy significantly outclassed my previous TVs. I was an OLED fanatic but not anymore
@Icipher4 Color accuracy, saturation, higher color volume, way higher brightness. This TV reaches over 2.000nits in it's most accurate picture preset. The processor. Even sub HD images looks outstanding. Dolby Vision content on this TV dropps my jaw on the floor everytime.
@@cenktheangel very cool. I have an S90C 77 in which is basically the same TV as S95B on my main floor and have a 85-in Bravia being delivered on Sunday but have been second guessing myself and hoping that it will be at least as good if not better than the Samsung I currently have. Has your Bravia 7 been able to keep up in darker scenes? Are you really noticing any weaknesses compared to the OLED?
@Icipher4 My complaints with OLEDS were: WOLEDs lose alot of color saturation, accuracy and brightness under higher brightness conditions and totally the reverse on QDOLEDs lose alot of saturation, accuracy under lower brightness conditions. Due to self emmissive characteristics OLEDs are really bad in terms of shadow details (acknowledged it after I bought the B7) Backlight system of this TV is literally very good. I am a person who watches his TV mostly on a dark room and Backlight works extremely impressive, even on DV content never noticed any blooming or grayed black bars. The viewing angle of course is very poor compared to OLED but it is a no issue for cos I always watch TV directly on front of it. Contrast is very good but again not OLED level also not an issue cos it delivers really contrastfull, bright and accuratly saturated images.
Here we have a great video talking about use cases vs cost and here comes the OLED fanboys jumping in bumping their gums bout black leaves. Chill guys, not everyone wants an OLED and perfectly happy with their choices.😂😂😂 JHC🙄
