Wow, the quality was great! If that's 8mm it's amazing, Looks like 16mm! and the exposure is spot-on (usually the biggest problem with home (color film) movies is exposure.) This looks way nicer than even a good video camera from 10-15 years later!
Fantastic quality footage, do you mind if I use some of the Jumbo Jet clips for a video I'm making? I'd link back to the video and give on screen credit, please let me know, thanks!
Thank you! I have a feeling this was 1976, the first year I went there at 8 years old. Brings back memories. Riding the corkscrew was a thrill as it just opened.
Good old days. I can smell the french fries. See the old guys sitting on the benches. My dads work summer picnic was here. Free ice cream bars at the picnic area.
I remember going on our freshman trip to Cedar Point in 76. Then our senior prom in 80. What great memories! Thanks for sharing this awesome video, absolutely loved it!
399'S were the last of the 100-300 Series Projector in a Box Style 16mm Projector going as far back as the 1930's....They were superseded in mid 1961 by the Model 535 which was a completely new designed Projector that shared no parts or looks from the previous 100-300 series. They were Great Ole Projectors but continued using the same antiquated Governed Motors that date back to the 138A from the ladder 30's. All good things eventually come to an end. Metal Drive Gears/Rollers replaced with Plastic/Nylon, etc. Although B&H still made some Great Later Projectors; They just don't have the Nostalgia of the Old Ones that I loved. I have over 35 Running 100 200 300 Models and double that in Parts Projectors in my 16mm Projector Collection along with a Library of Films in the 100's ...
Now THAT'S how I remember Euclid Beach. Finally, photographs that show what made the park so special! The deep greens of the trees, the look of the wood, the uniqueness of the roller coaster signs and entrances. Thank you!
My first visit to CP was The Bicentennial Summer of '76.. Didn't ride the Corkscrew, being new I'm sure the lines were long. (Rode it in '82). But I did ride the Jumbo Jet with my brother. This is wonderful footage, thanks for the trip down memory lane!
I remember the Bell & Howell 16mm Sound Projectors when i went to Primary school and Secondary school which would have been between 1961-1968,i think the door was like light Blue or Grey in colour what size of Reels does this one take maybe 2000 foot.
In 50 years, i've never heard about an 8 mm sound projector. I know we had those plastic vinyle 33 rpm mini dics format that you had to set up with the record player and plugged to the projector in order to sync the sound and the image. But other than that i've never seen regular 8 mm gage films with a track tape hooked to the film strip. You're mostly referring to the Super 8 mm sound format system.
Pure nostalgia. I went there in 1979 as a jr high schooler. Thanks so much for posting! Here’s a tip for those of you riding the blue streak: before the bar lowers over your knees to secure you, lift your knees up. This will give you more room to move in your seat. On hills, you will feel like you’re about to fall out, because you are. #Old-school.
