Just a car guy. I dive deep into various automotive builds, from full race builds, to getting vintage cars back on the road. Subscribe to follow the builds and see what comes next!
You obviously have skills . Being an 86 4runner owner and a novice mechanic, wouldn’t mind so more in depth removal replace content. Impressive how quick you tear down and put back
I have the 76, picked it up for 900$ 5 speed, spent quite a bit on it with parts, hoses, water pump, carb, exhaust...about 3K and it runs incredibly well...
Hi.. from Australia 🇦🇺 ... i have a turbo 3rz in a ke70.. there is quite a few corollas here with 3rzs and very fast corollas at that.... 2 youtube channels from Australians with powerful 3rzs are @nuggetgarage and @tunagarage... Also for more firewall clearance on ke30-55s there is 1" inch gap between firewall and heater box so you can dent/push it in... or if you wanted to go to extremes you can move the whole heater assembly 60mm i think it is rearward in to the car more and still fits behind the dash... this is a jz firewall recessing mod that gets done.. I also will be fitting a 3rz to a ke10 that i have which has tubbed rear to fit 12" wide wheels If you are rebuilding a bottom end.. it would definitely be worth puting better conrods as they are the weakest part and prevent you going much past 500hp... there is a company here in Australia 🇦🇺 making billet blocks if you wanted to go upto 1500hp..😂😂 That diff will last ok.. but with the 1st 30 seconds of your test drive.. it will last 3 minutes 😂.. That 73 hilux you have, has the exact right width diff assembly for this corolla 😂... and you need to fit tramp bars to prevent the leave springs tramping... i used 65mmx12mm (2-1/2"×1/2" for Americans 😂) steel plate 300mm/1 foot long and welded it to the diff.. face it forward for traction or face it backwards for less traction..😂 and i had it bolted around the spring at the end of it which almost made it a solid arm and used the opposite end of the spring for "springing"
Great job repairing somebody's elses screw up, I admire your knowledge of toyota engines . What impresses me most is your positive & upbeat attitude during the whole video . Congrats on a well done project 😊
I had a similar overcharging problem with my 1979 Toyota Pickup. Turns out that they made 2 different alternators and two different voltage regulators. The right voltage regulator has to be paired with the right alternator or else the alternator will overcharge the battery. Apparently one was a north american cold weather addition. It took a new voltage regulator and a couple of tries with the alternator to get it right. The numbers on the back of the alternator have to be right, not the wrong one with a wiring harness attached that supposedly switches the wires around. That did not work.
That is gonna be the coolest car! I do see a diff swap in your near future however from either the anticipation of the higher power of that engine or a mandatory swap due to the grenade consequences shortly there after resulting from power of said engine. 😂
Hey there! I appreciate you reaching out and sent you a message! If you don’t receive my text, I also have an email that you can reach out to, RedlineranchYT@gmail.com! I seriously appreciate the hilux and I’m honored to be able to give it the attention and love it needs!
Our first family car was a Toyota Corolla. Was one of the best cars ever, could drive it from hell and gone. In the 2010 someone stole our corolla and we never found it again.
I think it would be cool if people would take simple old "cars" like this and design their own mods. Make it a hybrid or mod the engine to make it better somehow.
RR, very nice work on all of the planning, checking, measuring, cutting, modifying and fabricating so far on this project. We'd like to see you build a driveshaft safety hoop and do some upgrading/modifying to the rear suspension to go with that major upgrade in power you've got. If you watch the video again you'll see that even with those stock Corolla tires on the back, when you did the burnouts those poor little weak leaf springs and shocks had no choice but to let the tire(s) jump all over the place like hyper rabbits. If you CAN, being as the car is nice, has no rust and looks stock (sleeper city!), put ladder bars on the rearend, better/adjustable shocks and widen the stock rear wheels for wider tires that are all the way or at least mostly inside the fenders...and of course a full exhaust because cops, keeping the sleeper stealth and preserving your eardrums. ;)
I had one just like it, mine had the infamously good, reliable, economical Toyota 2TC 1600cc (1588cc or so in reality) engine. I drove the wheels off mine doing nothing but good maintenance regularly. I always thought a '75-'79 Corolla 2 door would make a GREAT scaled-down clone-copy of a 1967 Ford Mustang on the outside (in every way, taillights, fenders, bumpers and proportions scaled down) with a hot 302 under the hood and a 4pd. I still think someone doing that with one would make a really cool, different, interesting restomod in a video series. ;)
That’s a 2tc is a really popular motor in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 is a hart really really economic beast like you said budget bild it runs with nothing and hit good number with some work
Had the 2 door (KE55?) In 2000 as my 1st car right after I got my licence. 1.3 L auto. Zero power but hardly ever had to put fuel in it. Rusted out pretty badly.
@@redlineranch.Not into the Taco engines, balance shafts suck. Besides The Puerto Ricans would Strongly disagree with you. 😂 They are cranking out close to 1,000 Hp on boost. The only common engines that will reach these numbers is the 2jz, 3sgte, Rb26 Nissan or the K20 and K24 Hondas. Didn't mention Mitsubishi because of their Love of Balance Shafts.
Got an old RAV4 5 speed and i managed to get a 3sgte in it the stock e250 js able to take the 260 hp andb i love seeing peoples reaction when rjey csnf cut me off and get gapped good luck brother it's a fwd version do it bro
Pretty hard to kill an old Toyota T-series engine. Water pumps, oil-pressure switches and timing chains. About all that goes wrong with them. And they were a hemi engine, from memory...
What got my attention firstly l am a Toyota fan boy because l own a 1997 Toyota Hilux with the 22R engine and you a very talented fabricator those engine and gearbox mounts also the sump excellent but my brother has a 1976 Toyota Corolla and doesn't appreciate what a great car they are he is meticulous about keeping it going and it is a low kilometre car about 170000 kilometres he gas a couple of crappy old British cars l gave them up in the 1970s
