This week I see the real life implications of using a vintage car as a daily driver and all the issues that come with it. Sometimes it’s awesome and people tell you how much they love the and other times it seems like a never ending battle of fiddling.

I can give you the name of a man in California that's sitting on pretty much the largest parts supply for these left, he has fair prices and is well known to vintage toyota groups.

I think I've been in contact with him already, actually! I've already been on a few parts hunts.

@@aprillovesgolf7042 He is a pretty public man on the internett and since his name is under quite a few videos out there I dont think he would mind me saying it here. His name is Carlyn Dinkler and if you google his name you should be able to find a few ways to contact him. If not I can see if I can find his email somewhere in my papers.

I totally agree, newer cars are such a hassle!

Dig your old Toyota. We've been daily driving a '79 Corolla wagon for the past 8 years. Minimal maintenance. We've been daily driving a '72 Vista Cruiser for the past 25 years😅. Taking it on Drag week again this year. 375k on the odometer. We don't own a modern car.

Dang! That’s awesome! What’s under the hood, I can imagine if it’s a drag week car you’ve got some work done to it!

@redlineranch7261 Last year was a warmed over 350 Olds. We were the 4th slowest car, lol! This year will be a warmed over 403 Olds and 3.73 rear gear. Shooting for 12th slowest car this year!

My father had one they are a lot of fun to drive, he called his the gismo it only had a 1.5 but quite zippy, they were toyota's first world car even built them here in Australia.

There seems to have been so many variations of them too, they kinda made it to be whatever it needed to be for the market it was sold in. I see lots of them online in Australia, seem to be more common than in the states.

@redlineranch7261 she's a pretty cool old ride Buddy My Dad had one when I was a baby his was an early 70s Corona.Shes old Buddy a timeless classic.Thats when Toyota first came to the states.With the body work done fixing the rust on it .I'd take that deck lid off the trunk and get a st of body hammers and fix her back.Ive done it myself just have confidence in yourself. That car deserves it. I just would like to see you keep her around for a while and use your channel to fix her up a little at a time.Anyone can own a 67 mustang or a 69s anything but not many can say they have a 60s Toyota

You certainly can use a vintage car as a daily driver,as long as you have a friend with a tow truck follow you everywhere and your wife has a good supply of anti anxiety meds.

u forgot to tune the carb so it lost 30 percent power after u took it apart.
@redlineranch.
@redlineranch. Месяц назад
Not how that works, it taking a carburetor apart doesn’t change the tuning of it.

It wouldn't be a"hoot to drive" if this was the only car you had drive every day.

I can disagree, cars are fun and don’t need to be perfect to be enjoyable

Why would you weld the diff of underpowered 60 year old classic piece of junk? :D
@redlineranch.
@redlineranch. Год назад
Why not?
@nippe1538
@nippe1538 Год назад
@@redlineranch. What is the benefit? I can't think any reason other than just because you can :D . I'm just curious as to why. In the end you do what you want to your car that's how its supposed to be, i just was wondering. Great to see some old Toyotas in US, here in Finland majority has rusted away or been sold to Africa.
@redlineranch.
@redlineranch. Год назад
@@nippe1538 I did it Because I could and it’s not like a 65 year old car is the perfect daily driver, plus the issues I have with the car all stem from it being old, the drivability of the welded diff is actually pretty good
@nippe1538
@nippe1538 Год назад
@@redlineranch. Really, i would think that welding it would make it horrible at least in sense that it does not have powersteering so must be really hard to turn in low speeds etc. How's the partsmarket in us. Here you can get maybe sparkplugs and belts new. Everything else is either NOS from a enthusiast or you can't get it at all.
@redlineranch.
@redlineranch. Год назад
@@nippe1538 it weighs so little that the steering isn’t really an issue, parking in a parking lot has a bit more resistance, but it’s almost unnoticeable other than tight maneuvers, and even then it’s negligible. Parts have been all but impossible to find, which is one of the reasons I wasn’t too interested in a full restoration.
