FYI, the oil style one can take 6 months to a year to properly dry and cure! Make sure you keep it flat and open to the air, as boiled linseed oil can spontaneously combust when compressed in something like a bag or trashcan!
I wish my grandmother and mom where still alive. They could tell me, and even show me how this gadget works, as I've inherited this along with many other sewing items and 2 old singer sewing machines. 😊
Got both at the same time. Rotary came with full blades and I don’t trust it to invest. Will continue with my scissors until I feel a good reason to get another blade.
I DID IT! This is THEE best sewing video I've ever seen. Not once did I have to figure out what you meant or what you were doing. I've only ever done mock flies... but I'm never going to do one again!! This was just too easy and it looks BEAUTIFUL. ❤ THANK YOU! You are a lovely teacher!
This is her husband, Lou, who does woodworking and horseshoe art welding. Not satisfied with the SS ruler with the pocket clip, so after seeing this ruler, I just went on Amazon and bought a bunch. Looks like it will be a great tool and one that I will really use a lot. Have enough to give one to a friend.
Wow, powerful message! Everyone will hear this and understand the bits that are in them. Emotional, mental and physical injuries all foster these outcomes. Thank you for sharing the process you used to break free of the cage our minds will lock us into.
Coming from more of a woodworking background, I know carpenter's squares have holes or notches in them to sit a pencil into, then you can slide the square and pencil together down the length of the piece you're cutting to get one smooth line parallel to the side of the piece, and many micrometers are sharp so you can set them to a length, lock them in with the little screw, and run that down/across/around to score such a line. I wonder if anything on this piece is used in a similar way
I remember reading somewhere that Levi Strauss added the rivets as a joke because he was sick and tired of the cowboys complaining about his jeans falling apart. The rivets were for metal sheets originally, I think. So to use them.on fabric was crazy. But it ended up being the missing ingredient. I remember when Japan bought all the denim back in the 90s. There were "We buy jeans" signs everywhere!
I grew up around a lot of mennonites in Manitoba, and I never really gave them much thought. Looking back now they seem a little peculiar, but not in any negative way. Just a little out of the ordinary.
I am so glad to have found your channel. I learned so much from your sewing edges video! I am descended from PennsyIvania Dutch farmers and your videos seem so familiar to me.
You are so interesting, clever, likeable. That is your strength and your attraction. And you’re very brave to open yourself up to us. I wish you nothing but happiness. 😘❤️❤️❤️
I started watching this to help me with designing a nice modern tailcoat (I was also watching your video on that as well) but then started zoning out because your voice is so soothing
I just noticed there's no mention of a yolk. Would I do two separate pieces the width of the back of the shirt from the middle of the armhole to the top of the shoulder deep, copying the curve of the armholes and diagonals towards the top of the sleeve? Then cut off the top of the back piece, allowing 0.5" for the seams on the shirt back AND the yolk pieces? Thank you in advance.
We all make the fatal mistake of thinking that 1. we need to measure up and be like others and 2. allow what they think of us to determine our state of mind. Only through suffering and adversity are men, individuals, and even geniuses made. Every name you could mention from history, known for good or inventive things, was an individual made so by the petty politics of those who surrounded them in their youth. You, sir, are an enlightened, peaceful being because of your adversity. You found what it takes to succeed by your own measure, not by others and as such, are a free individual. Collective minds will envy you while they put you down. You are the measure many men should aspire to. You have my respect. Souls are hammered out on the anvil of suffering and made perfect.
I understand it can be used to mark out quilting hence pins in holes to slide for lines and circles. But if your an artist it helps with measuring proportions.
