You Can Sew This Cap ... A Tutorial

This is a step-by-step guide on sewing this cap. You can download the pattern below and then follow along as I demonstrate how I turn this pattern into a wearable hat.
I used parts from an old hat for the brim/bill and back snaps. It's a good way to recycle old hats. You can buy these parts new if you want too. Alternatively, you can also make your own with things you find around the house.

I love this video! I was going to suggest that if you had enough width of fabric for the sweatband, instead of piecing it together, maybe try cutting it on the bias next time. That always helps for curved pieces

Love your style and your work. Could you please provide more info about that plastic-like interface you used in this hat? Brand name perhaps?

Appreciate the tutorial! What seam allowance did you use when sewing the sweatband onto the hat? I tried it at 1/4" and it didn't work very well. Thanks!

Great tutorial as usual. When sewing the peak of the cap, I'm a little confused. You start sewing in the centre and go to the end, but how does it work sewing the other side? Thank you, Matt.
@CorneliusQuiring
@CorneliusQuiring Год назад
I flip it around the other way so the bill is facing inwards, I start in the middle again and work my way out to the other side. It's a bit trickier but still works.

Just a regular cotton twill fabric. This one had just a touch of stretch in it, but that's not necessary.
