As a fellow electrician and HAM there are simple ways to prove the earth isn't flat. When you communicate on lower bands you can use the ionosphere for long distance communication. This has to be done since the curvature of the earth stops line of sight communication. My mom had Psoriasis and I was very aware of how self-conscious she was. It was heartbreaking when kids would point and laugh. She tried to keep things covered up but that didn't always work. We lived in the San Francisco Bay area and best I can recall I NEVER saw another person with Psoriasis. This was back in the 50s and 60s. Today several ads are talking about specific prescription medications that promise total or almost total relief from Psoriasis. Maybe I missed it but I didn't hear you mention the ground connection. It is just as important as the long antenna wire. either a water pipe or an AC socket ground prong.

I was playing with the same 3 pin chip years ago, with about a 14 turn "spider Web" coil and got very good Short Wave reception. They are only supposed to go to 2MHz, but I was getting 7MHz. I'm sure it was getting regenerative (oscillating) The chip will drive a 200 Ohm hearing aid receiver with no AF amp. Very Cool.

This is a great radio built back when people had common sense and were not so stupid that legislation is required on EVERYTHING of everyday life. You were supposed to set this up, plug it in, turn it on and listen from a chair, not go trying to interact with things inside it to make it play 'better' while its on.
