When the artists started to wake because of awareness from the likes of Prince and Mike, labels switched to streaming 😅. Artists now earn nothing and are basically product billboards to earn.. Musical "artists" these days are just vehicles to anchor the marketing campaign to lol. The actual music is made by sound engineers and recording artists using their music software, they take samples from actual music from the past and manufacture the music for people to consume, there's literally no heart or soul even involved in the entire process. Technology allowed them to mass produce music without having to rely on musicians and bands lol, its kinda crazy. Streaming has also made almost all music the equivalent of fast food, no one LISTENS to music anymore, we just hear whatever they manufactured in the studio, let the AI recommend new "music" for us and start over. There's no talent required to become a musician anymore, you don't need to be able to sing or play an instrument or write, yoi just gotta be marketable enough and the studio will take of everything else for you.
