I am assuming the decription #10 "second rendition" means a 50cc cylinder? You should not wait until the end of the description to mention a key modification and until the end of the video to mentio. "Meteor" aka after market top end. Also, people have to stop with this "346 XP" crap- either put "346 XP OE" or "346 XP NE" and give it a proper identity unlike a noob...

This was the first saw I started falling timber with in 1988. It was unkillable. I started with a 32” bar, but changed to a 36” bar. It was so much easier to limb with a longer bar. I fell timber full time for 14 months with it. Then I got an 064 and it became my back up. The 281 did vibrate a lot more. I cut for 4 years using 064’s and sold it to my father in law when I joined the Coast Guard to fly on rescue helicopters for 3 years. I got out and cat logged with him, and was using that same old 281. I put another 6 months on it before the oiler finally quit. The shop loaned us a 394XP demo, and we bought it. The 281 went to landing duty. Still on the same piston. The 394 was a lot smoother, but man was that 281 durable.

@@twowheelsdown2002The 181/281/288s were pretty much bullet proof if they had a slight "crack" at high idle. And of course, the air filter was maintained properly... You must have had the carb dialed in for your chains. I bought a 181 in '82 when they first came out. Used a 32". Mostly because I might be a little vertically challenged, lol. But,,, maybe it was that I would use a bigger power head with a 3 foot bar... 2100 to be exact. The 181 was a limbing mo-chine. They were my first experience with a zipped saws as well. Thank you for the inclination to "go Coast Guard" helping others is commendable. Thanks for watching also.

@@hotsaws101 I had multiple washable air filters and changed them every day, rotating them. I round filed the first 6 months and my bullbuck told me he saw that I was working really hard, and asked if I wanted to buy his Simington grinder for $250, since he was not cutting much anymore. I had no idea, but said ok since he said it would help me. Right after I bought it I got put cutting with a guy who had been cutting 30 years, since he was 17. He gave me a used grinding wheel and had me use it to set my dressers, and he told me to buy a roll of Oregon full comp. I did as he advised and he showed me how to grind the corner in right. Holy shit! My chains cut like a beast! I had been working like a dog trying to show I could keep up. After that it was everyone else trying to keep up. And that thing went through limbs like they weren’t there. One quick throttle burst and an ankle size limb was gone.

Howdy, ever have trouble with different saw's sights/handles have different points of aim, or slop in the bar mount changing it? Thanks
@hotsaws101
@hotsaws101 3 месяца назад
I have noticed it is hard to transition from saw to saw to saw. But it's mostly when stumping. The bias cut specifically. Generally speaking, the sights are 90° to the c/l of the bar on all saws. What differs is the handle bends, position, and distance from the pistol grip to front handle bar. A guy gets use to hand positioning on a particular saw. When changing to another, the "minds eye" aspect is off a little bit. So yes, I've noticed the handle bar orientation differential between saws. Mid sized Stihl saws & the upper Husqvarna saws have pretty consistent sized bar studs. 12mm & 9mm respectively. I have seem where the bar groove will be inconsistent though. Thanks for watching.

@@hotsaws101 I like Jonsered “straight across” handles, as well as the full wraps for the older huskies that were the same. 7900 pronounced handle angle is nice when standing or walking but throws me off in the wood. I may try adapting an old husky wrap.

I've run the 395 (mildly ported) and it has left my ownership now and the 592 has replaced it. For bucking big logs and felling larger timber, I just can't find much to fault...maybe if it were a pound lighter out front?..or came with a full wrap handle, out of the box?..skid plate? I don't know. There's just too much good stuff goin' on with this saw... Of note, the 592 is just under 93cc (if memory serves). It's definitely what you'd call a "healthy" beaver.
