Hey, I tried this many times - followed your steps but I am not getting any meters showing through my BS 15/ 16. I don't know if i am supposed to keep those unmuted but when i do mute/ unmute it doesnt change it. The only sound that does come through the X32 CARD is channels input 15=16 that are from my TV. I can mute them, or lower the faders but that doesnt change the same sound continuing to come out of the X32 Card. The only way to change the volume of the sound coming through the card on that channel is to lower the Preamp dial. Other then that, all my other IN's/ are not coming through the X32 Card, such as the Mac on my other two AUX in's & other instruments plugged into the mixer. What am I missing? My sound engineer is using matrix for our church livestream…however the bass is super low in the livestream…He said if I turn up the gain or slide the bass guitar channel up, it won’t affect the volume in the live. I’m guessing the di box I’m using is sending poor signal to the matrix..what do I have to do to turn up the bass guitar volume only in the live??? By the way, he created a bus guitar bus mix too
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse 12 дней назад
Thanks for reaching out. A Matrix does remove some of the flexibility of individual instruments into your livestream since you are using the main mix and/or buses to feed the matrix. That being said, you do have a few things I would want you to check. (1) Check the gain on the fader input to make sure you have enough signal coming into the board. Often times we have subs in our PA which require way less gain from kick drum and bass guitar and then we only turn up the gain according to what we hear in the house mix. That causes problems downstream and I tend to like having my input levels at -12dB on the input meter of the console. (2) Once you have the correct gain set, now move forward with making sure your house mix is still correct. You might need to turn down the input fader for the bass if it is too much now. (3) Finally, set the bass guitar in the broadcast mix if possible. You mentioned a guitar bus being used. If that is being used for just broadcast then that is the location you want to turn it up a little (if needed). If that bus is sending to your house mix and causing it to be too much then you might consider adjusting your house PA a little to handle the higher level of the bass guitar.

If I want to create a mix airbus for separate mixing for livestream. Do I need to get a Dante network for my x32 or can I use the USB?
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse 18 дней назад
You can have separate mixes inside the same console using MixBuses. The main mix goes to the house speakers, then you can build a Broadcast MixBUS for everyone not in your room. You can even use other MixBuses to build monitor mixes… all in one console. Dante is something completely different. This video here shows you how to setup the broadcast mix on the same console as your house mix. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pMnaiuC55RY.htmlsi=qwC_0bRUzJE4nm9v

@AllamHouse

If you want to have a second sound tech mixing your stream you will setup the MixBUS as Pre-Fader instead of Post Fader. This allows the inputs to move independently from the house mix. Then, connect your console to a network where you can install X32-edit on a computer (or use a tablet with the M32 app) and connect to the console. Here you can select the MixBUS for stream and then mix with faders and not interrupt the house mix. This video discusses the setup of X32-edit. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uijp9GD-gT0.htmlsi=UP0QFZ_DKn1SyHHR

@@AllamHouse ok, I’m going to set all this up. I do however have a bit of a worry. Our previous sound techs have setup a livestream output from, do get remove all of that first? Also once everything is setup. Which output am I using to connect to the live stream service?
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse 7 дней назад
Step 1 is to save your existing scene and note how your livestream is connected to your streaming device from the console so you can always go back to your existing scene by loading the old scene and setting up and cables in teh same spot. Step 2 is to save a new scene that you can begin to alter for this new setup. I always recommend using recorded multitracks from your group because you can work on this setup by yourself. Step 3 is to setup a stereo BUS pair, similar to the video I sent which talks about having it set to Post Fader. I usually go with all of my sending fader set at unity which is effectively a direct copy of the house mix and then alter from there. Usually you need to add some drums and bass guitar and remove (or turn down) some vocals. FX are going to be huge for refining the mix, but that is all a refining process once you have the general setup and mix complete. Step 4 is about routing. You had a Matrix leaving the console going to your streaming device. In this case, I would just remove whatever was going to that Matrix and ONLY send your new BUS pair into it. Make sure to turn off any FX, EQ, Comp, etc. so it is really just a direct pass through (unless you feel it needs a little touch up). This saves you from having to move cables or reroute anything.

I’m an X32 novice. Don’t even own one, just using one at a practice space. I’m having trouble routing a mix bus to the output in which I have a wireless IEM transmitter plugged in via XLR. I have it plugged into output 5 (maybe I should try output 1 first?) and when I select output 5 and then send to faders, the mix I’m applying isn’t coming through the IEM. Since this videos about 1/4 jack, I might try an adaptor I have for my IEM to just go that route. But I feel like my routing is wrong somewhere along the line.
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse Месяц назад
You are close for sure and XLR's are going to work just fine. First, go to Routing > Outs and make see what OUT your MixBUS is sourcing. This can be a confusing concept, but just go with it. Let's assume it is MixBUS 5 and you are sourcing OUT 5. Then go to Routing > XLR and make sure that OUT 5 is being sent to XLR 5. If this is the case you can then connect your XLR 5 to your IEM and it will have a mono MixBUS being sent to your head. Next thing to check is the setup of the MixBUS to see if it is PreFader or Post Fader. You do this by selecting the MixBUS and going to Home > Config and looking at the bottom left. See what the input tap point is set to and this will help you understand the setup. Usually IEMS will be set to Pre Fader. Finally, make sure the channels you are trying to send to your IEM are unmuted on the main layer that feed the Main mix. The Mute will impact all sends including your IEM. Last thing to check is that you are plugged into the left input on your IEM and then set your unit to Mono. I'm taking this as an assumption since that is typically how you would function with a mono setup going into an IEM transmitter.

@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse Месяц назад
The talkback mic is either routed to your broadcast mix or your house and you just can't hear it in the room (depending on how your setup is designed). 1) Are you using the talkback input on the back of the console or a different input and treating it as a talkback mic? 2) What signal are you sending to OBS? A copy of your house mix like this video explains or are you sending a MixBUS setup?

Can you daisy chain two p16 without the P16D?
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse Месяц назад
Yes, the P16 has a through-put cat5 connection so you can send your signal into one and then out of that one to the next one with no signal loss. Many people avoid this and use a switch when they run POE to power their units across the Cat 5 connection or to have flexibility from each unit and not have to rely on the others they are plugged in to.

Question: For some reason, when I plug the M32 into my DAW (logic), logic only registers 2 inputs (not 32). I’ve never had this problem using a behringer, but I think it might be a routing issue… any advice?…
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse Месяц назад
1) go to Settings > Card and make sure you are set as 32/32 2) go to Routing > Card and make sure those settings match Routing > Input 3) If you are on a newer machine running USB-C and converting with a dongle. Make sure it is either Apple or Anker branded. Other less expensive brands will only convert channels 1/2 4) go into the settings of Logic an make sure the inputs are mapped properly so the DAW has a place to send all 32 USB inputs from the console.

@princedavid6241 Месяц назад
Question: If your inputs are pre-fader and your routing output is post fader, will the FOH mix after the output of the Matrix Bus you used as an example?
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse Месяц назад
I’m not sure I understand your question. Inputs will jump directly to the Main BUS as Post Fader. That being said, if you have a Bus setup for mixing that has inputs sent to it (instead of directly to the Main BUS) Pre-Fader, this means that any changes you do with the faders for the Main BUS will not impact the Bus mix. This is used for IEMs and some live stream applications. That is the bus configuration being Pre-Fader, but also have other tap point options. Once you have a mix in this Bus you need to send that Bus out somewhere (Monitor, IEM, etc). Of this Bus is leaving the console you can set the tap point for the output as Pre-Fader, Post Fader, etc. where Post Fader will allow you to use the Bus fader to adjust volume control of the output.

Hi Allamhouse thanks for your video. Can I ask a quick question re the M32. In short: how can I route a local Aux input to an output of the DN32 to track in my Sampler/DAW via USB? I have an Akia one sampler connected to the DN32 so I can send 32 channels out from the sampler to mix on the desk, this works, the problem is I need to sample from a record player which comes in to the desk at the aux input, but I cant find a way to send the aux signal back out to any of the DN32 outputs which are connected to my samplers digital inputs via USB.
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse Месяц назад
The first thing to keep in mind is that you only have 32 channels you can run to/from USB. So you can run 32 channels from your DAW into the console and 32 channels from the console into the DAW. Once you add your record player into the mix coming through the AUX In on the back of the console you will now need to determine which two channels (assuming your record player is stereo) you will give up to be able to push these AUX In channels to your DAW for sampling. If we choose Ch 31/32 to substitute with AUX In 1/2 to move forward with the example then we would do the following setup. Go to Routing > User Out and setup your Out25-32 to have your first channels matching your existing setup (25-30) and then 31 would have a source of AUX In 1 and 32 would source AUX In 2. Once this is complete you will need to go to Routing > Card and set your channels 25-32 to the USER OUT 25-32 and the right window (when you scroll wheel down) will show that your settings look similar, but now channel 31/32 should have AUX In 1/2 as their source. I hope this is helpful, but let me know if you have other questions.

Many will use the deck link duo to get these same four outputs, but the extra cost didn’t fit out budget and we have to run wireless for our confidence monitor so everything lined up to use the blackmagic ultra studio to support out two additional needed outputs.

Thank you and this was helpful to see! I learned a lot from your x32 videos in the past, and it's cool to see you talk about the video side. Our church has been setup/teardown for 7 years, and starting next month, we'll have our own place, praise God! We're going to start looking at cameras, switchers, and cables soon. Great video!

Thanks for the encouragement. I don't dive into the video side much since it isn't my expertise, but I figure some of my heartache can possibly help someone else.

I'd recommend staying away from those flat network cables especially if its not shielded....they might work but being that the pairs of wires in those cables aren't twisted, you might susceptible to interference leading to dropped network packets and slower network speeds. That flat cable might never fail on you but if the goal is to reduce your points of failure...that would be quick little change. It's that one day where it's laid up just in the right spot where it's next to a power cable or some other equipment where all of a sudden, your connection is degraded.

100% agree. The flat cables can get the job done, but I'd be concerned about the durability should they get walked over or heavy gear gets rolled over them.

This is a great point and will handle that tomorrow morning. I didn't think about the twisted side of the twisted pairs... or lack there of. Great insight.

MXBus App will have monitor levels for each channels, not just the Bus
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse Месяц назад
Thanks. the MX-Q app also allows for adjustment of each input going into the Bus by turning the device into landscape orientation. This will allow you to mix the inputs for each Bus and then in portrait mode you can control the overall volume of the Bus itself.

Sir, you missed his point, he doesn't want to control the Bus, but rather the Monitor sends within the Bus.
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse Месяц назад
That is correct. the app I mentioned MX-Q allows you to control the mix going into the Buses on the console and will also allow you to control the overall volume of the Bus depending on the orientation of the device.

I setup multitrack with reaper and it worked but now when I go to Vmix, nothing comes out. Audio is not loud and I have mixbus 1-2 as my livestream buses. We have an s32 digital box so our channels 1-16 are all on AES and then 17-26 are microphones connected directly to x32. I used output 31 and 32 within user to output 1-2 which is my livestream buses but yeah nothing comes out.

For starters, make sure a mix is set to the X-USB audio driver. And understand that Vmix will be looking at whatever is coming across USB 1/2. You need to get that live stream audio set (using the custom user outside) to go out USB 1/2 and then you can fill in the remaining tracks you want to multitrack record. Since your DAW is working, I would get it setup properly for 1-stream L, 2-stream R, 3-input 3, 4-input 4, etc where you put your input channels 1 and 2 at the end of your list. Record into the DAW and then listen to channels 1/2 in the DAW to confirm it is your livestream mix (keep in mind you might need to pan them to sound correct). Once this is working you can load up Vmix and you’ll have your stream audio on USB 1/2. Also, keep in,ind the security settings where you might have to give Vmix access to your “microphone”

Yikes 10:00 "Outputs, User Output, Out2:Out05, Out Signal" Very confusing.

Yeah, it isn’t the easiest system to explain, but it’s the system we have to work with. I’m happy to assist further if you need more help. Many times it requires your specific setup to make everything concrete.

You Sir, are a magnificent gift! Thank you thank you, thank you. I was at my breaking point and wanted to go all caveman on my X32! I am just trying to monitor my tracks as I overdub to record track by track. There are many videos that show how to record and then how to play back and mix but not how to record whilst hearing a previously recorded track and that is what I do - until mixdown. Although this video was not intended to teach how to record track by track, it sure did!
