IMO, Apexi Res mid pipe alone is the best combination between exhaust and the induction noise. The midpipe alone isn't as fast as cars with full cat back but it is better than the oem for sure. I can now pass cars with 8th gear on the highway without downshifting. This wasn't possible before the installation.
Such a nice engine and style from Lexus thats it makes it that much more shameful that they only devided to give it an outdated torque converted auto trans. Such a shame!
80% less drone than the Apexi resonated midpipe + Borla, and it doesn't drone over 75mph on the highway, so I'm thankful for that. Realistically you can't remove factory cats, resonators and mufflers and expect 0 drone, so it all becomes what you can handle vs. what you can't. For me this combo is a great mix of sound and freer flowing tubing with very minimal drone.
@@FINALV8don’t get me wrong it’s a very nice car, I just think the lights are kind of the human eyes equivalent - a very important attention grabber - and cutting costs on this part is disappointing.
Nice video! It really sucks that exhausts cost mutliple thousands of dollars and you know within about 5 minutes after installing it if you like it or not. Trial and error gets very expensive with exhausts 😂
So far corsa are the only muffler I’ve owned that have zero drone. And i’m in my 50s now lol so I’ve have a lot of set ups. And I have their ‘extreme’ mufflers in my 07 GT500 which are their loudest. Borla touring didn’t drone much but was too quiet.
Oh that sounds lovely, definitely closer to stock, just a tad louder. I'm partial to the OEM exhaust tips, but the Revels look nice. If only I can get my paws on the RCF Titanium ones. 🤩 Looking forward to your impressions after the break-in!
More clips to come for sure! If you already have the Apexi midpipe, then all you need is an axle back and there are a lot of good options there. Any one you're leaning towards in particular?
I did a muffler delete on mone, and exactly from 2000-3000 rpm under load is very boomy. Not overwhelming but on a long drive it gets annoying. My shop is going to add in two small resonators. Otherwise the sound is perfect...just loud enough and at full throttle screams in a beautiful symphony. But that drone...it's gotta go. Those little stock mufflers were doing a lot of heavy lifting back there.
Try the RR bazooka. It’s valved so you can have it quiet and loud when you want. The only thing is when I looked at it once on their website, I think you have to buy their midpipe too. However it does sound great. Also I love the IS 500, I wish I could afford one. However recently I got a pre owned ‘19 ES 350 for a good deal and it’s plenty fast for me tbh, especially on the highway
I was considering non resonated because of you’re videos but I haven’t heard one in person but im thinking ima do a resonated mid pipe and keep the rest of the exhaust stock I love how the car sounds over 3k with the stock setup I just wish it was a bit more
Look into invida Q300 part# Hs14LRF3SH its for the RCF but it will fit the Is500 all the info is on google, there's a Forum about it. Type in q300 is500.

@@FINALV8 just an FYI for everyone: RPM is RPM, not RPMs. RPM is revolutionS per minute. RPMs is revolutions per minuteS which makes no sense Anyone that says RPMs doesn't know what they're talking about. It would be the same as PSIs. PSI is pounds per square inch. PSIs would be Pounds per square inches. Otherwise, great video and good personal insights.
Nice update man appreciate! I have a couple thousand miles on just Borla axle back with stock midpipe and it hits right where I was looking for. This helps me with any ideas of an aftermarket midpipe as I don’t want it annoying the neighbors or me inside the cabin.
Yeah it works great for me coz the stock setup was just too quiet for me but I didn’t want anything obnoxious either. Looking at getting a tune from Loi after I get a few more miles logged to fine tune what Lexus leaves on the table. Are you tuned?
@@bljtgill for sure. A few people have done the unresonated midpipe + Borla axle back and I believe most have uninstalled one or the other because it’s so loud. I can’t imagine that combo with how loud the resonated midpipe is with the Borla.
@@FINALV8I did a borla with my gt haus midpipe. It sounds loud and amazing and everyone loves it but I can say it did ruin the daily drivability a little with the extra rumbles and vibrations. Wanting to upgrade to the full gthaus cat back when I get enough saved. Wondering if that will fix what the borla failed at for me. Still love the sound with the windows open tho lol.

Hey there - the actual steering wheel is the wood/leather one from the IS 350 DHP and IS 500 Launch Edition, and the airbag cover was custom with stitching to match the OEM wheel 🙂
How's the drone with this setup if any? I have the 350 with the Borla, but I'm considering on getting the resonated apexi to pair with it. The borla itself has no drone but i'm afraid adding the midpipe would affect it
Hey there - I'd say it's a bit boomy from 1,800-2,200rpm, but not droney. Highway under 80mph is no drone, but at 80mph and above, you'll hear a very slight bit of drone. Good luck!
Sounds great! I just picked up a 2024 last month myself and installed the Borla axle back with everything else stock. I love it as it was just too quiet with stock mufflers and the Borla isn’t obnoxious. Like the plate too - I’m also here in Georgia in Fulton County.
How does it sound with just the Borla Axle Back? Did you have a video up on RU-vid? Did you have to change out any other things... i.e. sensors, or anything like that
@@somebody8411It sounds somewhere between the stock pipes and Final’s Borla+MidPipe - his is definitely slightly more aggressive than just the axle back with stock mid pipe but I love it. Changed it to exactly what I was looking for. It is still a luxury sedan albeit with a good heart! I will concur with Final on the 2200-2900 RPM range is pretty noticeable but not annoying in the least and above 4000 RPM it’s just music to me. Borla has a sound clip on their website with examples of the system with a soon to be available midpipe along with just the axle back on an RCF if you wanna check it out. No other changes needed - they bolt up right to the stock flanges and I had a reputable exhaust shop swap them out in 45 minutes.

@@somebody8411Sure thing glad to share - I have heard they were thinking of going electric or hybrid or turbo for 2025 but who knows. I have a 93 octane tuned 2012 Buick Regal GS with a 2.0 litre Ecotec turbo in it making near 300WHP and it’s pleasantly powerful and fun but slow running mid 14’s in 1/4 mile. I’m old school and bought this car for the 8 cylinder as it will be one of the last ones made in cars I can afford anyway. It’s not the fastest ride out there but it’s fast enough for me and it’s more about listening to the 8 cylinder for me versus being the fastest out there and it will go 300,000 miles. I wouldn’t wait too long as I don’t expect them to continue these with 8 cylinders for too long. Good luck with your decisions!
There’s a boominess to this setup 2,250-2,750 rpm but not a drone. Feel free to check out a few of my other videos, like the street drive, so see what I mean. Above 75-80mph I think there might be a slight drone, but I’m also not sure because I have larger tires and Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season tires and there’s a bit more tire noise with this setup than the stock Bridgestones. The fact that I can’t tell if it’s drone or tire noise probably tells you how minor it is…
@@somebody8411 I have 235/35 20 and 275/30 20 Michelin pilot PSAS4s that definitely make a bit more noise than the stock Bridgestones, but they’re a much better tire overall IMO 👍
@trilingualkid you do realize the older gsf still goes for 45-50k right? That's a 7 year old car. But personally yes, IS500 is kinda low for a dream car I agree.
