paelour wasn't ever meant to be an industry unfortunately :/ I've been in parkour for almost 20 years and when free running came out I saw the writing on the wall: 90s rollerblading all over again. parkour was great as a personal discipline similar to martial arts, but. it's not just very marketable
Hi Giles, I would not completely agree with you, because I have been producing parkour clothes since 2011, and I think we have a completely different experience. Can you tell me why do you call the print on the T-shirt a "Clothing brand"? Since clothes/fashion design and graphic design are very different profession.
Love these thoughts. Definitely sad to see the giants go, and I also can't help be a little excited to see this rise of a bunch of smaller and more niche and diverse brands and teams. It's so much fun to roll up to a jam and see everyone in entirely different parkour merch, I think it'll be rad to see more intentional pieces from a huge group of teams as we sorta transition away from a number of great pieces from just a handful
Thank you so much for this! I’m starting to peak into this kind of territory and it’s scary but also exciting! This ramble of yours made it more scary and more exciting so thank you 😂❤
Thanks for the mention man, and great to hear your thoughts and opinions on this - You’ve mentioned some things I missed, or glossed over in my video (At around the 6 minute mark my brain started going into meltdown) Your experience & story is super insightful into all of this! nice one ❤
Love the ramble. Haven't watched Callun's video so I'm not sure if he mentioned it or not but I think another big factor is the price point of the merchandise. It's hard enough to buy food, gas, basic of hygiene and living, and pay bills in this economy. Most people can't afford to drop 60 to 75 dollars on a t-shirt and over 100 for jackets and trousers. I was pumped for the new Storror jacket, that is until I saw the price. Another thing, is you never know what kind of quality you are paying for. I have 7 storror shirts that basically sit in my closet during the summer months because they are so thick and heavy. Still pretty stiff after a bunch of washes too. That's deterred me from buying any of the last few drops. I know you mentioned in the join video "where's Drew" that there will be new options in the future. Looking forward to that.
The price point is a huge factor and is infact the great catch 22 of why it’s so hard to sustain a small/growing business, let alone a parkour clothing business. People want high quality at cheap prices. Two things that are near impossible when ordering products at low quantities. The only way huge companies can offer such low prices is due to the huge bulk orders they can place. I can promise you no parkour clothing brand is trying to oversell their products and make items more expensive than they need to be. This means super slim margins resulting in an equally small margin for error when it comes to any potential cash flow issues the company could run into.
@@_____GILES_____ its so hard to tell people the price isn't high cause of an overcharge or the merch extra - its that what people are buying in stores is often mass produced in conditions that aren't favorable Its interesting people will push back against high prices from creators and small businesses but haven't ever pushed back on the still increasing prices from stores and huge businesses who actually have the money to take the hit I love storrors clothing and I've found joy in finding them second hand since the quality is there and even the original clothing holds up over time - and I've only had one piece actually need a proper fix up which I'm gonna get round to (if you want to know cause you do help with storrors merch its an older jacket that i bough from Toby and the inside lining has just fallen apart at the seams - most likely due to age and the material I'm gonna replace it all with a fleece or maybe sherpa inside id be open to recommendations)
@@_____GILES_____ the cheap and the expensive is different in every country Giles. For example 35 euros are cheap if you live in sweden and have basic salary 4000 euros but if you live in greece with basic salary 600 euros is very expensive. Do you catch the difference?
Nice point of view. Funnily had a chat about pk clothes with a mate today. This input kinda helped me to understand more the clothing thing in pk. Thanks ! :)
Awesome riding ruined by some of the worst camera work and editing I've ever seen. Between all the quick cuts and horrible angles (half of the shot was cut off numerous times), it's amazing that I could see what Keelan was doing at all.
So - how much is Storror owed in taxes since you only registered in January? No wonder Drew is so busy! They'll probably have asked for back taxes, when in reality if you've all been paying individually for all these years, you must all be owed a small fortune right? All being fair (which the man is never fair about). Good luck Drew. It's a full time job dealing with the man.
All those evil comparisons clouding your thoughts and freedom was in partnering with the "competitor". You didn't lose to Storror, you dug yourself out of a hole of misery by combining your strengths into something stronger. Both of you win!

Seeing your journey is inspiring man. Excited for the book, excited for the podcast - The amount of growth I've seen from you over the last few years has been fucking nuts. Congrats man
Sonovabitch!!! You had me panicking with that title. I’m a 50yo guy that has just got into Storror over the past month - binged watched their content, became a joiner, and just bought a tee shirt - probably something to do with you! I moved to Horsham from Glasgow in 2007 and lived there til 2021 - and knew NOTHING of them. It was such a boring/safe place to live so it blows my mind that they grew this amazingly cool thing. It’s the camaraderie dude. You all make me miss my youth like crazy. I failed in a business I started in my late 20s… totally understand how wedded you get to it… but you are going to be fine. And fuck you for that title… I did NOT want to find out those guys weren’t every bit as good as they seem. 😂
Twenty years I was young and handsome. Now I'm bald and wrinkled 😅 You still have another 20 years before you become a train wreck like myself 🤣🤣🤣 Great video 👍
Thanks giles for your contribution to the sport and making so many amazing videos that ignites the fire and passion..looking forward to the book soeagerly as well as documentaey kind of thing about our sport of all the clips you have collected over the years❤🙌
