Nice video ! Curious if these Mikuni TMX carbs came stock on these bikes or not ? Some blogs out there saying they did, and the Honda parts guys seem to have no idea, even when I give them the serial #... I guess I just want to make sure I'm getting the right rebuild for mine. It's the same year as your bike and appears to be the same carb, even though it doesn't specify with a model # ... Any help would be appreciated.
@@ThomasKuhar lol 😂. It actually wasn't the worst I've ever seen. When it gets real bad it smells like varnish. My local town actually has a yearly clean up day they will accept old paint, gas, ect.
The roller bearings you talk about at the end of the video, do you mean some needle bearings got misaligned, like 1 fell out of line with others? I have the same problem, last clip won’t go in no matter how hard I hammer the joint cap.
You got a sweet bike there good runners you will get them running my bikes have not been run in years there on jacks with blankets over them there both like brand new in my younger days I had my fun they was both used I never had any thing new but I fixed them back to perfect over time you will do the same there super hard to find and that bag behind the seat is almost impossible to find I love the seat cover with the kdx but I could not find them 20years ago so there just all black but I seen there is some places that have them now so I’ll get two of them black with white letters I subscribed and give you a thumbs up bro be safe and your part of the KDX BROTHER HOOD :)
One big problem on this bikes the magnets on your fly wheel pop loose and all go to the one side of fly wheel and you will run like shit misfires pops thru carb no high end you can pull the fly wheel off and glue them One by one back in DONT take them All out there in the spots there ment to be in so glue them Back in one by one in the same spot going clock wise you Chan Get glue that’s for them It’s like a black epoxy you mix it together if you check them and fix them back to there right spots your bike will run like a bear trust me I got 1984 kdx 250 and 1985 kdx 200 both bikes run but like half power I checked the fly wheel the magnet was all on the one side on both bikes I glued them Back it was a 150% different in power and start ups
@@teslamr7333 honestly, if it was only a year, if the tank isn't full, I would put a few gallons of high octane fuel in it and run it out . It takes a couple of years for gas to start to varnish.
They must be including a new connector with wires due to : 1. People mangling the red lock mechanism 2. Wire strands breaking off by the pins 3. Wiring insulation getting rubbed off by metal edges so shorts against it. My SMP instructions said to tap on the camshaft in case the end floated out towards the CPS. They also say to inspect the mounting surface for residue left by the o-ring snd shave that off with s single edge razor if any is present to prevent seepage. They slso said to torque the bolts to 30 (?) inch pounds. That's like 6 foot pounds. Ain't much but anything higher may crack the plastic snd strip treads. Usually you replace the target magnet on the back of the cam at the same time.
Found this while trying to diag my gl100. Can't move it as easy as yours when you first broke it free but it's around there. Mine is the exhaust valve.... Hopefully it's not bent 😅 but I haven't gotten that far yet
I need help with my transmission I can't fine the year by the tag I got it off ebay tag is f6zr 7003-ac res-aak0272 1381-001 85179k thanks if you can help
I know this is 4 yrs old, but I alway RU-vid my tasks. My 89 Mustang needs a fuel pump, so I'm doing this. The main problem is getting a decent hand pump, many out there are garbage. Thanks.
I have used it before in lawnmower ECT. But if it's real bad, I bring it to my local town , they have a hazardous day a couple times a year where you can get rid of old unused chemicals, paint ECT.
Thank you. This helps. But now do I burn off old fuel/bad gas? What about old gas in carb? Do I need to drain/flush all fluids in truck sitting 2 years? I appreciate your easy to understand video and safety tips.👍🏽
Think of all the bullshit they could have saved us if they just used points and condenser ignition with a normal automotive coil. More complex doesn't mean better. All this nonsense could be replaced with a simple magnet and a coil from a lawnmower engine too. Engineers need to be required to be mechanics for 10 years before they are allowed to design anything.
These quads are 40 years old, if you find a used rim more than likely it will have an old tire on it. So your back to where you started ,🤣. This is for people that restore old atv 's and want to keep the original wheels, not some hot shot who can't wait to go riding.
It's definitely easier in my opinion to remove motor, I would try something a little stronger like ob blaster if the wd40 isn't doing the trick . Definitely let it sit overnight
Whatever you have laying around, milk jug. Old plastic container. Old school . Once it's removed then needs to go into a container that your local hazardous place will accept it in. Where I'm from our local town has 2; hazardous days a year for old paint, gas ect.
@@Ryan-hi6zg I'll just take it your not a mechanical guy. It's okay.we all have our talents. I guess you have federally regulated gas containers readily available for all your gas needs ,🤣. When I recycle old gas they take it in old plastic milk jugs, they give you a sticker for you to put on identifying what's in the jug and it gets disposed of properly. Stay away from cars please.
I have a 1985 suzuki quadrunner 250 with all original tires. I was trying all kinds of tricks to get them off and I think this might do it thank you for sharing.
wow thank you very very much for a real good and clear video cause 'i have the same problem with my honda express nc50,i just never worked on it cause i dont know how..so it should be the same procedure on my moped right?thanks again and god bless you.......
A few major points to remember. Always change the fuel filter shortly after changing fuels. Also if it held ethanol fuel you may need to make sure that the various objects inside of the tank, mainly the fuel gauge float and the pump, are working properly and not seized due to rusting. Keep an eye out for signs of rust in your fuel tank as ethanol gas is hygroscopic and can easily rust the interior of tanks if left for extremely long periods., especially at lower fuel levels.
My car also has been sitting for 12 years. You have inspired me to try this method first. So relieved to see that the old gas did not turn to a solid yet. I bet it stunk!! How did you dispose of it?
Thank you for this. My outer bearing ring actually broke in the case so I couldn't separate with a bearing separator. Couldn't get behind bearing without beveled edge of outer ring. Had to do this exact procedure to get it off (just the small center section). However, if bearing is still good and intact, should always use a bearing separator tool. Makes life way easier. Either way, good vid if you're in a jam like I was.
