Poor Jimmy Buffett, my favorite singer. I was a big fan of Jimmy Buffett since 2017. May Jimmy Buffett Rest in peace in heaven and have margaritas up there…
Enfin un vrai interprète qui incarne cette magnifique chanson de Jacques Brel contrairement aux chanteurs qui même avec des voix magnifiques n'incarnent pas le texte. Ici on le vit. Bravo
I just learned recently that this song was written and released in 1945 when millions of Americans were serving overseas in World War II. It added a new meaning to what this song must have meant to those at home who had loved ones serving in harm's way.
The irony of singing this song and dedicating it to gold star families of Americans (the same people who took the land from the Queen of Hawaii who wrote the song)
I was living Hawaii when he passed....was in the paper and on the TV news....such a great young man to have lost.....sometimes we loose our best and brightest....when I see this I know I need to be a better man in my life....God Bless all who knew and loved him....
This song touched my soul for multiple reasons. First of all, the song "Aloha Oe" was composed by our talented haku mele, Queen Lili'uokalani, who I deeply admired. Secondly, it was in honor of Army 1st Lt. Nainoa K. Hoe, who died while serving in Iraq for our country. Nainoa was a 1995 graduate of Kamehameha Schools and so am I. His dad was also a combat medic and I was also a medic in the U.S. Army. Lastly, Ruthie Ann survived that fatal crash that took the life of her daughter, Abigail, in 2018. Ruthie was also 7 months pregnant with their other daughter but lost that child also. Needless to say, I needed kleenex after watching this video. It was a truly a beautiful thing to watch.
"when the world's alive, with sound of kids on the street outside" "then you lift me up, in a wave of love" Yep. That's what women do for men, and men do for women. We build each other into things we could never become alone. This entire song is about love, kids, and family. Thank you Belinda, for writing these lyrics.
