Oh, that’s great! Glad to know you are all doing well! Maybe we’ll run into each other again sometime soon. Perhaps on a lake or out hunting somewhere. So, you’re slaying the smallmouth bass!!! I love catching them on a fly rod. I caught a few on the trip to the Kennebec. Have a great day! Stay in touch.
Thank you Jason!!!! We are catching some really nice brown trout and my friend caught a nice rainbow trout today. Are you and your family doing much fishing lately? Any good fishing stories to tell?
Sweet! I’m having great success with them. I actually bought two more a few weeks ago. I now own 7. I hope you enjoy it and have lots of hunting success!!!!
I think it was a young boar. Young slender looking face, with large ears. Also had a thin evenly proportioned body. Usually Sows are shorter length, and heavier in the rump.
Opossums do forage and so do a lot of other critters. This species of animal forages through the leaves most of the day. What would you guess this time?
@@ryansmith1926 Great guess! I was actually scouting for good places to hunt when I found this tell tale sign. It’s not Grey Squirrel season and I wasn’t after red squirrels. This hint should help you nail it!
Definitely a controversial way of going after bears. I personally don’t have the slightest interest in chasing bears with dogs. On the other hand I don’t disrespect those who do. It’s just such a touchy topic. We must tread lightly. I know what can and has happened to dogs during chases. I know the bears anxiety is through the roof and they can be extremely unpredictable and dangerous. Dogs and humans beware!
Yes. It would work best in center without the second seat. This way you would have plenty of room. I actually wouldn’t mind mine being installed that way. But I thought I’d be using it with my son. He doesn’t climb ladders and is afraid of heights.
This method is extremely debatable but it actually allows the person pursuing the black bears to see bears and to be more selective so they shoot an older bear. Unless a hunter traveled to Alaska or North to Canada to spot and stalk black bears in wide open country they will not see black bears unless using an attraction like bait to draw them out of the thickest of swamps and woods. In most of Americas black bear country the forests hide these critters extremely well and it makes it nearly impossible to spot one.
Thanks for watching!!! Really not a bad camera arm for the money. I feel like it’s decent quality and very affordable. Do you use any kind of camera arm for filming your hunts??? If so, what do you think of them?
@@jasongibson8295 You can film A roll, B roll and point of view clips, edit and upload fully produced videos all with a smartphone. There’s all kinds of fancy tripods for smartphones. I have one that folds up to credit card size and fits in my wallet. Some of my best videos that have earned me the most revenue have been 100% produced with my phone. You can do it too!!!! Anyone can as long as they at least have an Android or iPhone.
@SpikesandGills first I have to get good at hunting. Are filled with hours of watching squirrels and woodpeckers. Occasionally I'll see a critter but usually not 1 that's in season.
Very good tip on waiting for that Tom . I had a group of hens and they were being followed by big Tom but I couldn’t get him to come to me . The birds moved off to another area and I stayed and fell asleep against stone wall . 2 hours later I heard something coming in the dry leaves . It was him coming back to investigate. Game over 💥
Odd.....ive always had to go out weeks prior to opening day to scout for scrapes, trails, food sources, bedding, droppings etc to figure out where deer are traveling to anf from. Then set up a stand and go out at 4am before prime deer activity time and silence and patience was the only ingredients i needed. Never knew real hunting was this way...
You hit the nail on the head! Yes, this all applies when it’s go time. The GRIND is real!!! We can never overlook the importance of deer sign. Putting all the pieces of the puzzle together are what drives me. The hunt never ends!!!!
YES SIR!!!! There’s something said about becoming one with the forest and being the ultimate predator. Materializing into your surroundings and fooling the deer’s senses is so much fun and tricky all at the same time. Do you hunt with a bow or only a firearm? Are you one of those trackers that wait for snow?
I've seen some of those videos but I prefer Jeff Sturgis at whitetail habitat solutions.. it's great to see all the critters come in and check it out after putting work on the habbitat.
I love them guys over at Whitetail Habitat Solutions. I learn a bunch from watching their videos and lately I have been learning a bunch from Bill Winke. I appreciate you for taking time to watch my videos. I hope you’re able to get out there and do some whitetail habitat work.
@SpikesandGills I have been and got lots more to do. Just got to repair equipment. And got 1 new area to plant clover but the foodplots going to wait and plant fall blends as I don't have bow permit or equipment yet. So rifle season it is. Wich means planting winter rye in August and September. Yeah no problem. Glad to support your yt channel.
The $8.00 to $9.00 a month for this type of trail camera isn’t really all that bad when compared to others. You can just pay for one month, two, three months or year round. I’ve been finding that having many of these cameras like around 6 or 7 EDGE cameras that MOULTRIE will discount the monthly charge. Sort of like a promotional rate. They’ve been really good to deal with. I’m actually going to buy a couple of the MOULTRIE EDGE PROS this year.
Correct!!!! Hinge cutting done right allows the tree to stay alive. The cambium layer (the living cellular reproductive part of the tree trunk) continues to supply the sugar water to the branches and leaves. It’s a tricky business indeed.
Unless you are in the wreath business those balsam fir are about as low as you can go on the timber scale, not worth much. This reminds me I have to get out and clear some shooting lanes, better now then the first week of November when it often happens. Seeding on bare frozen ground or even on the snow so you can see where you have been works fantastic, no messing with the soil to get the seed smashed in or anything, watering is taken care of as well, as soon as the temp get right it will sprout!
I’ve never tried tipping for wreaths before. I’ve been interested in trying it. But… yes!!! You better get that stand prep and food plot work done before it’s too late. I’ve found if you pick a very windy rainy day to trim shooting lanes and move stands during the hunting season works well because the deer are bedded. Also the heavy rains will wash your human scent away deep into the soil.
@@SpikesandGills The deer I shot this past fall was in a three day old stand, just put it up and cleared a quick shooting lane or two. It sure is nice not to have to disturb the area that close to the harvest. The Wreath industry sure has changed, the Balsam Valley enterprise took it up a notch Back in the '80's I used to make $100 a day rain or shine at 12-15 cents a pound. I think they get 50 cents these days not sure exactly but its gone up. .
@@downeastprimitiveskills7688 Nice! Congratulations on getting your deer! Your right wreath tippers get around .50cents per pound now. I’ve heard some people make out really well during tipping season.
I actually am, lol. I must weigh about 250ish now. Almost the size of a big old black bear. (But I do know the real reason for your comment. I respect your opinion). It’s definitely not for everyone. It’s a real problem the lack of awareness and education on the subject of hunting the North American Icon. My family and friends eat bear meat every week until it’s gone. We enjoy the bear meat when out ice fishing or grilling in the backyard. It makes a mean cheeseburger and crockpot stew.

What a freakish strange winter. No snow. No ice. It seems like it lasted only two months. You could try some sort of down rigging for trolling for lakers.
@SpikesandGills yup would need a boat for that. I made it to east musquash once on the ice but no bites all day. So at least I got try fishing em once this winter.
@@jasongibson8295 Oh I see. East Musquash is where I caught my personal best land locked salmon this winter. I went back one more time and got skunked. It goes that way sometimes.
@SpikesandGills sure doeslast 2 years been first ice fishing I've done since I was a kid at that was more riding atv& snow sled than fishi ng. Cuagt 4 last year almost tripped that total this year. First smallmouth white perch and brookie.thru the ice this year rest were pickerel. And cousin didn't get any last year got 2 3 if if his line didn't snap. So better year despite the short season. Tight lines and happy hunting👍👍🤘🤘🎣🎣🦃🦃💯💯👊!!
Rick Cole: Your Dad says Hi, Not much Ice around is there or thick? Never forget Ice Fishing my self, to cold for old farts now lol the weather is changing to warmer climate sadly
I don’t think I know a Rick Cole, lol. Should I??? But anyway, yes this warm rainy weather just might end ice fishing for this year as we know it. The thickest ice I’ve seen so far this winter has been only 14”. After today that lake might only have 9” of unsafe melting ice.
@@SpikesandGills Your Dad lives with me and an other, I'm using a new computer, my hotmail ID won't change over, this is my Gmail ID from years ago so I put Rick Cole in so people who know me will
Awesome fish, my friend! It is super easy to confuse some trout with a salmon. So, you are not alone. This is precisely why they have documentation on this subject and, even then, it can still be confusing at times as you have found.
Thank you very much!!!! I have a couple buddies that are notorious for getting the fish identification wrong, lol. I hope you’re having a great year thus far! What’s your biggest catch?
It’s a male landlocked salmon! Did you actually watch the video all the way through? How to properly identify a salmon and brown trout is all in this video.
@@jasongibson8295 I fished East Musquash already this year and caught my biggest salmon. Nearly two feet long and just shy of 4 pounds. 23.5” and 3.84 lbs. we were targeting trout and salmon that day.
I've seen eagles and crows together all the time.but not a goose. Eagles and.crows show up all the time waiting for ice fishers to catch something and throw it on the ice for an easy meal. Had crows an eagles on trail cam totally destroying my bait sickle for coyotes last winter.
Oh yes!!!! That’s right, lol, I too have had eagles and crows circling looking for fish. Oh it’s totally nuts…. I was looking out my shelter window at the two geese being chased by the eagle. Next thing there they were making quite the commotion with one missing goose. That’s so cool you make “meatcicles” too for coyote and bobcat bait!!!! Very cool!!!! Have you had any luck so far this season????? I’m actually focusing more on ice fishing but will get out calling to coyotes when I can get away.
