Unless you are in the wreath business those balsam fir are about as low as you can go on the timber scale, not worth much. This reminds me I have to get out and clear some shooting lanes, better now then the first week of November when it often happens. Seeding on bare frozen ground or even on the snow so you can see where you have been works fantastic, no messing with the soil to get the seed smashed in or anything, watering is taken care of as well, as soon as the temp get right it will sprout!

I’ve never tried tipping for wreaths before. I’ve been interested in trying it. But… yes!!! You better get that stand prep and food plot work done before it’s too late. I’ve found if you pick a very windy rainy day to trim shooting lanes and move stands during the hunting season works well because the deer are bedded. Also the heavy rains will wash your human scent away deep into the soil.

@@SpikesandGills The deer I shot this past fall was in a three day old stand, just put it up and cleared a quick shooting lane or two. It sure is nice not to have to disturb the area that close to the harvest. The Wreath industry sure has changed, the Balsam Valley enterprise took it up a notch Back in the '80's I used to make $100 a day rain or shine at 12-15 cents a pound. I think they get 50 cents these days not sure exactly but its gone up. .

@@downeastprimitiveskills7688 Nice! Congratulations on getting your deer! Your right wreath tippers get around .50cents per pound now. I’ve heard some people make out really well during tipping season.
