Hi, thanks for the video. My amp has XLR Balanced IR output, I am connecting it to my interface(Babyface) via XLR Output(mic.) output. I am not sure if I should crank up the input level on my interface or keep it at lowest in order to not have any distortion on my sound. But when I do it like that I'd need to crank up my amps Master to the highest level. Do you think I should find a sweet spot and just turn up the mic input gain just a bit also on my interface, do you think it will be %100 clean, as long as it's not clipping? Cheers!

This content is golden, i've seen mulitple videos on this topic, and while i understand them, they are always filled with too much filler and they don't go straight to the point, not only have you compiled most basic chords in one video (which i had to go through a few to see each one individually because they didn't contain all of them most of the time) but you also have displayed demonstrations in the most simple and optimal easy way to understand possible in my opinion, and not only that, but you also make what was learnt be truly solidified with your exercises. your channel is gold, keep it up once you are recommended massively people will stick around for sure. Loved it, also: 1 - D minor 2 - F Major 3 - Ebsus2 4 - Eaug ty for the exercise as well.

Thanks for reminding me no matter how self conscious I am of my musical efforts, and even if I am not rewarded with the fame and glamour that is given to DJ Khaled - at least I am studying, experimenting, and creating music. It’s a sad reflection of the society we live in where image or brand is considered more than the art itself, however at least nowadays there is alternative media entertainment and we’re not forced to consume from what is programmed to us. Great content as always 😊

Thx for this video! I connect my guitar to an amp modeler (Helix) and use it in 1 of 3 ways: A) to an amp B) to a mixer C) to a powered FRFR speaker. When connecting to an amp I set the Helix out to 'instrument level' and when connecting to a mixer or FRFR I set the Helix output to 'line level'. Question 1: Is that correct? Question 2: In all 3 scenarios I am using a standard TS instrument cable. Does that matter?
@arbitersofsound
@arbitersofsound 26 дней назад
Correct! That is exactly what you should be doing :D If you were connecting to the mic-pre of the mixer you would need a DI (but since you're using a TS cable I assume you are connecting to the line ins). Also the only time you would need a TS speaker cable would be to go from a power amp to speakers (which you clearly aren't doing). So connection is correct and cable is correct :D

I have had the Touche SE for 1 month. Bought second-hand. Then realised that Liè only supports VST2. Now came across your video from a year ago and now the current one from 2024. You make possible what Expressive E has not been able to do for 7 years. WoW! Thank you. Thank you very much. I'll test it out now. I bought you coffee after testing and trying it out. Remarkable work! BTW: Lie. support wrote to me a month ago that they are now working on VST3 support in Liè. But when that will come: Probably not until Christmas 2025. In the meantime, I will probably be much further along with your software. Once again THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU from Börlinn!

Hi, thanks so much for this! So if I'm using the S/PDIF in the studio, how would it connect up? A TRS to Coaxial cable? Or does the device need to have an S/PDIF connection? And is this to record into the interface, or to send out from it? Which way can/does the signal flow? Really appreciate your help!
@arbitersofsound
@arbitersofsound 27 дней назад
You can only connect devices that have SPDIF. Most commonly you will find them as a coax cable pair on studio gear. Each cable transmits 2 channels out and 2 in. So you could send 2 channels out from your interface to a digital effect with SPDIF on one cable (lets say the white one) and record the effected audio back on another cable (the red one in this case). I hope this makes sense :D

Great video, many thanks. Although in Instrument level (1:35) you say the cables to use are UNBALANCED TS, in Speaker level chapter (3:34) you say “commonly use mono UNBALANCED TS”, but you also say “ALWAYS use a SPEAKER cable, NEVER use an INSTR. cable”… Is this not contradictory? Which one is right? This also brings me another question.. how do you distinguish a BALANCED from an UNBALANCED TS cable?? Thanks!
@arbitersofsound
@arbitersofsound Месяц назад
So, a TS cable is always unbalanced (you need three wires for balanced, so XLR or TRS). As for Instrument cables vs speaker cables, on the outside they look identical, but the wires in a speaker cable are of heavier gauge to handle the extra power from a power amp. Hope this helps :D

is there a standard notation to know which triplets notes should be omited or not?
@arbitersofsound
@arbitersofsound Месяц назад
It would usually be shown with a rest in place of the note inside the triplet marking. If you're constantly omitting the same note (like in our example or e.g. Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Tears for Fears), then you start getting in the territory of swung regular notes, so you'll have to wait for the swing video ;) But generally swing is notated with regular notes and a pretty loose marking at the start of the score saying that the notes should be swung haha
