Why “Gimp’s Garage”? TL;DR version…. Let’s just say I wasn’t blessed with the best from the healthy gene pool haha. I’ve had more surgeries due to autoimmune diseases since I was a kid up to current day, than dozens of people will ever experience, combined! The main two that do somewhat limit my daily life and ability to wrench, both my wrists are fused, hands are deformed and I’ve had 5 hip replacements. Do I let that nonsense get me down, stand in my way or slow me down? HELL NAH! let’s get to wrench’n and rippin’.

Based out of Utah. Im just an average guy that does a lot of DIY garage mechanical stuff and I love to teach people. Even if I taught one person something new or how to do something, it was worth it. Thanks for being here. Please be kind and rewind, wait, scratch that, reverse it. Please subscribe.
I’m not a fan of the new look. Also not a fan of how all the gauges and the entire bike are controlled and confined to the infotainment system. If a gauge goes out on the 23’s and older, it’s a lot easier to replace yourself and not need the dealership to fix it
I like the new look . I’m the same about the gauges . That’s why I’m on the fence on getting a 24 or a 23 . How come all the way down in Florida? No dealers in Utah ?
@kevinmeehan4549 I got a great deal on this one. The Kraus bars which are $2,500 to do, came on the bike. And it wasn’t pre owned and only had 9 miles on it. It was overall $7k cheaper considering all that than buying new from a local dealer
s&s 475 has been around for a while now. But it sucks at low rpms and tends to choke out a little bit at low speeds. Like under 10 mph. Zippers makes really good performance cams and the lope on them sounds real good
Congrats dude! I love my 22 rgst, I've done quite a bit to it, but after 16,000 miles, it just gets better for some reason. Plenty of power, even when we tour with it. They are fun stripped down. And you got the last air-cooled pushrod bagger they'll probably make. One reason I bought mine.
lol I’ll take pissed off sewing machine over the wimpy sewing machine 😂🤘🏻 It’ll be free breathing with a full 2:1 exhaust once I break in the motor after 1k miles. At the Same time I’ll be doing the cam, throttle body, pipes and tuned.
They are garbage. They came on my previous bike. But had them laying around. No sense in buying nice slip ons just to do a full exhaust system in a month.
From the looks of it, They roasted my bike when it was stolen and afterwards, they stripped some of the motor and with how it was found, it looks like it was pushed off the back of a truck going fast. The cylinders broke loose from the crank case at the base
What about a vtwin, like 09 dyna ? I just picked a base map and rode it about 30 on a new stainless polished exhaust. The exhaust is golden so i know thats good so far?
Great explanation, got the Max and some SS 2-1 in my JP box.. Just need advice on how to get the investment by the wife...Im hoping it helps with my 103 running hot as hell!!
Sorry for the late reply. I would have your bike properly tuned on a dyno if it’s running super hot. One thing thundermax can’t do is properly adjust your timing. Which will ultimately wreck your motor if left without adjusting timing
How many rides/miles did you put in before doing your auto map adjustment? Just did a big bore kit with cams. Just got 400 break in miles. Thinking of writing the map
How well have those parts held up? I found their webpage and thinking about getting some of their black/orange parts. Did the clutch and brake reservoirs have any leaking issues after install or down the road?
The clutch and brake covers worked great. Just use your stock diagrams. The ones they send with their caps are garbage and melt. I had brake fluid leak all out one day.
@@Gimps_Garage thanks....i was afraid of that. Did the other components hold up ok though? I will pass on the res covers. But thinking about the shift linkage and shifter rod components with the black and orange accents
@@michaelhudson303 meh. The juice is worth the squeeze. Good things don’t come easy. But the process really isn’t all that bad. Especially if you don’t have a great dyno guy readily nearby
